7 Top-Rated Motels in Bavaria

April 25, 2023 Kelli Reichel

Known for its beer, sausages, Oktoberfest and lederhosen, Bavaria is Germany’s largest federal state and one of its most popular tourist destinations. It's also one of the most independent-minded regions. Home to cities like Munich (the capital) and Nuremberg, Bavaria is also cherished for its hilly countryside, where such gorgeous sites as Hohenschwangau Castle, Neuschwanstein Castle (the model for Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyland) and Linderhof and HerrenChiemsee Palaces can be found.

Good value for money.

Great value for money. Very attentive service checking in. Convenient room and bathroom, not big but more than enough. Location near subway. The only thing is three elevators are not enough for such a big hotel so it is very crowded in the morning to take breakfast. Breakfast is very simple, nice but they should offer some warm options. Also orange juice is missing and they do not refill. No towels change. No options for dinner except Form some sandwiches (the ham and cheese spicy is very good). Nice terrace outdoors.

Excellent budget hotel - clean and modern with very good transport links to all of Munich right outside the door. Hotel very quiet despite being right next to the railway line (you dont hear the trains unless your window is open and even then theyre not very loud). Wifi worked in our room as well as hotel Nice bakery adjacent to hotel for breakfast at a sensible price too. This is my second visit to this hotel and will definately look at this hotel again in the future if I am in the Munich area again. Hotel has a secure parking garage but I am not sure if there is a charge for this or not as we didnt have a car

Perfect pit stop right off the freeway. Newly renovated and very nice, clean room to a great price. Free parking and TV-survailiance were just two other perks. Fast food chain right around the corner. Only thing it lacks is a microwave for heating baby food for example.

Does what it says on the tin

Fair play if you're tired and want somewhere to sleep on your journey, this place will do the job. You have to book your room in the middle of the service station shop, so queue up with your coca colas. The prices are cheap as chips but you get a room and breakfast for your money. The room was okay, the beds are very old. Mine had a big dip in it where your hips go. So I tried to take comfort in the fact that many many people had been in it before me. Bathroom very basic but clean enough. Breakfast system was a bit random, you were given a ticket but woe betide you if you chose an almond croissant over a standard one because they are apparently not allowed. Luckily I got away with it!! The lady we booked with was very pleasant. To sum up, very basic if you're desperate but don't book this as a pre planned holiday stopover

Great breakfast, unforgettable chef and dog

Reviewed By player296

This was straight out of a film noir. Arrived late Sunday, just after Covid lockdown ended, roads up in this tiny hamlet, but finally got to the car park. Sign on door said “ heute ist Ruhe”, not what we wanted. The door was unlocked, I entered to meet an eager Westie terrier and a person in an off white vest who looked at me with astonishment, then gave me my bill and a key, and on my enquiry( all in German), said the only food was schnitzel. We had driven from Esbjerg pouring rain. Anything would do. By now the Westie dog was our friend. The gentleman turned out to be the chef ,produced perfectly respectable schnitzel, draft beer,a vodka shot “ Kein Tonic”,and the dog ate part of my wife’s schnitzel but with a calm gravity befitting the situation. No one had dusted our simple room since before Covid, but we were so exhausted we did not care. In the morning a Ukrainian lady produced a fabulous breakfast with delicious hot soft scrambled eggs that Claridges would have been proud of. There was no sign of the chef, but he had made sure I paid in full the night before. The feeling we were unwitting actors in a weird Hitchcock movie stayed and we looked carefully to see if we had dreamt this, but then the dog reappeared and indicated we could leave.
