This is another great spot to visit when in Ostragotaland. The ruin will present you with opportunity of nice pictures to bring home. Though very beautiful to see, I doubt there would be sense to make special trip to Alvastra unless you are going by.

We offer guided tours of different themes, an exhibition about lake Tåkern and we welcome you to look at animals and plants in our laboratory. Watch the 14-minute-long movie about Tåkern (in English) or just have a coffee by the Panorama window in front of the vast reed beds and breeding colonies of black-headed gull and common tern. Take a stroll on the nearby wetland pasture accompanied by lapwings and marsh harriers. We have a three story high bird tower and walking trails around the area. Welcome!

Regardless if you are interested in birds or not; visit Tåkarn. Amazing and very nicely build place. Opened in 2012 by our king. See the 15 minutes film describing the history and current fauna. A must

Even if you are not deep into Scandinavian history and culture, Rokstenen is a very recommendable place for a stop if you are travelling in Ostergotland. To see the beautifully preserved rune stone, to make a visit to the nearby church and even to buy some rune-related souvenir along with your ice cream on warm summer day will only add to pleasant travel impressions. Maybe not so great in winter or late autumn.

It's not, but it does have a magical feeling to it.
There are various trails you can take (from 1 to 27 km long).
Took the blue trail (6km), which takes you to the highest point of Omberg and to the steep cliff, bordering the lake.
Take a pleasant hike in this viking forest.

Named after significant swedish author, this place lives up to that name. There are guided tours of the beachhouse, which start, if I'm not mistaken at 11am and 2pm, costs 20kr.
But It's really nice to just go down by the lake, sit down in the patio and relax.

Omberg Zipline är beläget vid Stocklycke vandrarhem, några kilometer öster om Hjässan (Ombergs högsta punkt). Anmälda grupper samlas vid "Zipline-boden" för information om aktiviteterna samt utdelning av aktuell säkerhetsutrustning. Ta på oömma kläder, för dels kryper och kravlar du dig fram beroende på teknik och förmåga, dels kan du fastna och riva sönder plaggen om du har otur. Evenemanget tar ca 2 timmar, beroende på vilka delar man väljer. Kamera kan vara kul att ha för att föreviga det som sker. I övrigt ett glatt humör och lite dj-ar anamma.

Välordnat med bord och bänkar. Bra parkering. vacker utsikt över Vättern. Vi gick en promenad runt området, i skogen och genom kohagar. Lite svårt att hitta markeringarna på träden ibland men annars väldigt trevlig stig.
