Renovated but dirty, very dirty.

The hotel room looks renovated recently, it was a tatami room in the 14th floor, looks where very nice. From arrival there was no possibility to early check inn, even offered for parents with children we were very tired after a long flight and the front desk just said no early check in without not even making an effort to see if a room was available. Staff speak very little English. Biggest problem is the dirtiness, the room felt dusty from the first moment. On the first night my 5 months baby started sneezing frequently, we thought it was an allergy but after 3 days going on an about in Tokyo we realize she didn't sneeze outside, only in the room. I then inspected the room better, there was piles of dust in corners, behind beds, on top of TV and lamps, behind curtains, the carpet on the entrance was the worst. The bathroom was not clean also, there was mold growing in the bathtub joints with the wall and in the sink. The in-room refrigerator was also moldy. We then complained to the front desk and asked to deep clean (in Japanese and English), they cleaned the bathtub mold, and the air filter, but still there was hair and dust accumulating in the corners. I then complained to night staff manager and he offered a new room but he wanted to check, from my room I could hear the managers cleaning the next room, when they offered I then checked and showed that there was still parts with dust and mold, they cleaned a bit more and apologized saying that the room will be better cleaned next day. Deep cleaning never happened on the following days even we complained every day. One day they left us a vacuum in our room to clean ourselves (I took this as a mistake, but it was clearly for us to deal with the dirt). They offered breakfast tickets as compensation, we tried the breakfast one day and never came back, the breakfast was so bad that even as free I prefer to eat somewhere else. The manager has apologized by email and offered to return about 100$ of the cleaning fee (from a reservation we have paid more than 1000$), we have not yet seen the refund after 10 days. Good things, location is very good and Wifi is also good.

A Very Good Hotel in Quiet Yotsuya

Reviewed By HelloKittyTravelPro

We stayed at the Tokyu Stay Yotsuya during the Rugby World Cup in October 2019. While Tokyo was extremely busy, Yotsuya was relatively quiet. It’s rather central but not as crowded as the more popular tourist-oriented districts of Tokyo. The hotel is 5 minutes from the Yotsuya metro station, which proved to be very handy. All the staff at the Tokyu Stay Yotsuya were very polite and helpful. Miss Goda, who worked on the reception desk, was extremely helpful when we needed to extend our stay due to Typhoon Hagibis. Our room was a reasonable size with a large bed, small sofa, wardrobe, desk, etc. There was also a small kitchenette that was equipped with a fridge, microwave, saucepans, plates, utensils, etc. There was also a washer/dryer. Best of all there was a small balcony with a wonderful view across Tokyo. On a couple of days we could see Mt Fuji from our room! Brilliant! Unfortunately, there are few restaurants in Yotsuya that have much for vegetarians on their dinner menus. There is a Family Mart right next to the hotel and you can find just about everything you need for snacks, a light meal plus beer and English language newspapers. We heartily recommend The Rising Sun pub nearby for an excellent pint, grilled cheese sandwiches and chips plus excellent rugby camaraderie!

convenient location, well-desgined room

Reviewed By Sunnyslope2009

This hotel used to be Mitsui Garden Hotel Yotsuya. I didn't know until I was about to book a room that this hotel changed hands. I felt it was a little overpriced back then but now the management is different, the price is lower and more appropriate. The one unique feature of this hotel is a very long desk in the room. If you are here for research or for business, or even for entrance exams, this helps a lot. It is not a big room, but a well thought out design for a solitary business guest. Most of the rooms are not big enough for a couple. Some regrets are 1) they don't offer real coffee--drip packages or pods--in the room to use with an electric kettle. Who would want to have instant coffee? But then there is a Doutor coffee shop right across the street. 2)there is no English language TV channels. I didn't have time to watch TV, but it would be helpful for English speaking guests to have some basic English channels. Overall, this hotel is very conveniently located and very very affordable. I will stay here again when I have to come to Tokyo next time.
