Mount Juliet brings the rich history of its estate to life through its luxurious rooms, a Michelin-starred restaurant and world-class golf course. It offers all of this and more, tied together through the care and expertise of its close family of staff

Excellent as always

I have stayed at Mount Juliet several times over the past year. Each stay seems to exceed the previous one (which is impressive as they are consistently excellent). The Lady Helen is outstanding (food quality, service, and atmosphere). The Hound is also excellent in the same regard. The rooms are beautifully maintained and house keeping is as close to perfect as you can get. The most outstanding aspect is the staff. Across the board, everyone seems to excel at customer service. A special thanks to Laura who is the Front Office Manager for her commitment to insuring each guest has an outstanding stay. I am really looking forward to my next visit.

The Tower House B&B

Clean basic rooms ( not for cold nights) miserable breakfast offering

Reviewed By Templegreen

The rooms were clean and a decent sized bathroom with wall size hazed window onto the courtyard made it feel a little exposed (but thats the prude in me perhaps) That aside, I didn't like that fact that the rooms open directly out on to an outdoor balcony (courtyard). It was freezing the night we stayed - evening with the heating on - there was a torrid draft under the door. The breakfast room was also cold (forgiveable perhaps in COVID times) but frankly it and the carpet felt unkempt and unclean. (The sugar dish lid was also covered in greasy finger prints. The breakfast, (served by hands covered in coal or wood dirt by the way) offering is described in the brochure as "glorious" - it was very basic, with two miserable and I mean tiny slices of toast. As Irish brekkies go in B& Bs - this was the far short of the norm especially given the price of the room in bloody mid January - it was almost 130 euro. Our host was a friendly enough gentlemen but didn't seem to be aware of masking requirements indoors. Some might say that is petty, but that says a lot to me. Charm is often code for not so great and that is the case here. Will I be back - simply - NO. There are many far better B& Bs far more deserving of the business. I fail to see how this place gets such glowing reviews.

Ballyduff House

Ballyduff House, built in 1760, is set in glorious parkland overlooking the river Nore. It is the beautiful home of Brede Thomas who, as well as running the B&B also farms. The setting is totally unspoiled which is almost unique in this part of Ireland.

Wonderful visit!

While vacationing in Ireland (from the USA), we were treated to a 2-night stay at Ballyduff House. So, so wonderful! The home is beautiful & peaceful. The room was huge! Brede was a wonderful hostess that was joy to interact with. And the breakfasts were beyond delicious! Make it a point to stay here if ever in this area of the world. It it’s a wonderful experience!

Wonderful place, wonderful owners

So, I’m going to to say this first of all. Carrickmourne house is not ultra modern. Don’t come here if you’re wanting a large tv in the room, a rain attachment power shower or bland white decor. This is not the place for you. However if you want to stay in a lovely homely home, run by some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, in a peaceful location with stunning views, then this is the place for you. The breakfast was superb. Hearty but not too much. Fresh tasty produce. Plenty (lots) of toast, bread, cereal & fruit. A lovely pot of tea with a view over to Thomastown. Comfortable & very clean rooms that are a great size. Tea, coffee & water facilities in the room. Really great living room. Ample parking. Beautiful gardens. We had two great nights sleep & I have no hesitation in recommending Carrickmourne House. Hospitality at its best.
