5 Shopping in Robertson Quay That You Shouldn't Miss

April 5, 2022 Fernanda Pittenger

The Singapore cityscape looks like it was ripped from the pages of a science fiction comic book. If you’re hungry for a true Singapore experience, sample the myriad street foods or take a cultural cooking class. The Botanic Gardens and the Gardens By the Bay offer a slice of horticultural heaven, and the observation deck of the Sands SkyPark makes you feel like you’re high above the clouds. The banks and walkways along the Singapore River bustle with local activity.

While in Singapore on a recent business trip I stayed at the Peninsula Excelsior on Coleman Street. Just minutes from the door, at #3 Coleman Street, I spotted The Silken Treasure and decided to venture in to see what was on offer and spent a very pleasurable hour assisted by the extremely affable and helpful Raj, the owner, reviewing all the different materials I could have made into a custom handmade suit. A mere 24 hours later Í took delivery of one of the smartest business suits I have ever owned! Top quality fabric, exquisitly crafted. And the price! A third of the amount I could have spent in London. I cannot recommend Raj and The Silken Treasure highly enough for the attention to detail, the very enjoyable shopping experience and the efficiency of the whole operation! Be sure to make it a stop on your trip to Singapore. He has just recently moved to this new location in Coleman Street, very easy to find.
