Relatively new hotel, close to two subway stations so the rest of the city is within easy reach. Stayed in a King room which was quiet and comfortable with a good, not too firm bed. Luxurious atmosphere at a reasonable price.

We went for our anniversary, it was a cold rainy day. but the room was very comfortable and the view out over the bay was nice, but limited due to the rain. The next morning the rain stopped and we could see more clearly from the 25th floor.

A veritable Metropolis of a Hotel, but a Very Good one, but with some caveats

Reviewed By Safariholic

We, a RWCup Tour Group, stayed here twice – 4 nights, then Kyoto for 3 nights, then here again for 5 nights, so we got to know it quite well. We came by Coach from the Station (Bullet train from Osaka to Tokyo) and it quickly became apparent, due to the numbers of Police & Security Personnel, that something was amiss – it transpired that the Pan-Asian Summit had just finished & about 60 Countries’ Heads-of-State, Royalty, Premiers, Presidents & Dignitaries, were all decamping from the Hotel. The 1st impression is its scale – 1500+ Rooms and 39 Floors in Twin Towers, incorporating a Office Block, innumerable Restaurants, Bars, Meeting/Conference rooms, a veritable Shopping Mall, a Rolls-Royce showroom, Gym (expensive Extra), Outdoor Pool, enormous gardens with super water features & hundreds of huge Koi Carp – the Lists goes on and on. Oh and Location - excellent Rooms, which were a challenge to find, as one had to be certain to use the correct Lift in the correct Tower (there were several banks of them), were extremely good, well-appointed and all with fabulous views over the City, if a tad snug. Breakfast was a tale-of-2 extremes – First was in the Restaurant in the main cross walk between the Twin Towers, the Shops and both Receptions (Yep – both) with a gorgeous view over the Gardens (window seats were much prized). Buffet style with No Cook-to-Order Chef for eggs was disappointing, as was service, selection/ choice, quantity (they could not keep-up, though I admit the Hotel seemed at capacity, but then again - that was hardly a surprise, what with a world Cup in town). Bottom-line was quite poor, exacerbated by the lengthy queue. 2nd in the Restaurant (to one side of the Northernmost Reception) was so completely different, it was as if we were in a different Hotel. Still ostensibly Buffet-style, but queue (5 mins in 7 visits), excellent service, far superior quality of items, broader choice (fruit, yoghurts, Juices, Bakery items), Chef ‘On Duty’ for eggs-to-order etc. Very well run and staffed. Trader Vics - booked a Non-Smoking table for an adult Cocktail before going out to dinner. Arrived, shown to our Table, ordered our drinks, only to find 6 gentlemen sit down at the next table and light-up. Query to the server elicited the following – “You’ve got it. This is it.” The other 18/19 tables are ALL Smoking, so we were surrounded. We drank-up rapidly and left, reeking of nicotine, & quite disgusted. How absurd. Restaurants – we looked, read the Menus, saw the prices, gasped, and left. Gardens were superb, proved a very photogenic setting, delightful scene, stunning backdrop for the posers & selfies – you name it. Location – Hotel is in a super spot with an enormous array of Sights, Places or Attractions within walking or short tube ride distance. Staff were incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and many spoke incredibly good English. We did not always ask the Concierge, as they invariably had a queue. In Summary – Very Good, but if it was not for the aforementioned caveats, it could, and frankly should, have reached Excellent. For the Business traveler on expenses, it’s a no brainer. For others, I would still commend it, since the Pluses way out scored the caveats and the Location scored very highly. A suggestion - make it all Non-Smoking ? The Smoking Rooms off the main walkway enable a powerful aroma of nicotine to pervade everywhere.

Always the place to stay in Hakone

Reviewed By edt0

Each time we come to Hakone we stay at this hotel. Although it can be a little isolated, it is the perfect place for a walk early in the morning and a great view of Mount Fuji on a clear day (see picture). The rooms are big by Japan standard and comfortable. We booked the dinner inclusive package and dinner was great. But it can be a little monotonous if you stay longer than 2 nights as you will probably be bored with the same spread. They have the shuttle service to/from Odawara station. So that makes it convenient for travellers. Be warned. They are very strict with the number of people staying in the room, as with most Japanes hotels.

Hotel is very near the Hakone Ropeway (a few minutes drive) with an excellent free onsen!

Reviewed By mpenzakc

Location is great and you can book rooms which come with private toilet. Bath is at the free onsen. For the Japanese-style rooms, we have to lay the futons ourselves. I would suggest getting the breakfast and dinner bundle with the room as there are no dinner options nearby.

Lovely Rooms

Reviewed By lorrainey819

This ultra-modern, Japanese resort has rooms which are decorated with abstract artworks, western-style antique and modern-European furniture, and nice marble soaking tubs (located near the terrace of the room) so guests may appreciate the view of forested mountains and Mt Fuji (stayed in 302). The complimentary mini-bar is stocked with an assorted selection of French and The Hiramatsu’s own brand of mineral water, plus some bottles of French fruit juice. Assorted teas and coffee are also provided. Upon arrival, we were greeted very cordially and presented with a variety of French fruit juices from which to choose while registering. The large, waiting lounge area is decorated with modern-art paintings and antique British furniture. Dinner was held on the first floor, facing a lovely lit terrace with torch-like lighting being reflected off a pool of water. The morning view of the same area during breakfast is of a beautiful forest on the other side of the water display. For dinner, very creative French/Italian dishes were served (7 courses). Please see the pictures. For breakfast, we were served fresh orange juice, a healthier-style of a creative Eggs Benedict, a tomato-based dumpling type of soup, a variety of freshly-made French bread and sweet rolls along with honey and fruit jams, a steamed green pea and basil-sauce savory custard, a small dish of rice gruel with vegetables, and a dish of fresh fruit with yogurt. One’s choice of coffee/tea followed. If you have any food allergies, please inform the staff in advance. Note that you should inform the staff in advance of how well-done you would like to have any meat dishes cooked since we had not been asked for our preferences. (a bit too raw for our tastes) If one needs to monitor salt content, please inform the staff in advance. I found some of the very creative and artistic/well-plated dishes to be a little salty for my own taste buds since I tend to cook with only a little salt at home. The beauty and health benefits of the in-room, marble-soaking bath was really appreciated. A separate shower was also located in the room. Please note that the tubs have 24-hour running water, so bring ear plugs if the sound of running water disturbs your sleeping pattern.

次回に期待だが。。

Reviewed By ayleeds
