Reviewed By MagicCatToursWhat a stunning hotel! So much attention to detail in terms of customer care and interior design. Food was also incredible as were the delicious cocktails. My husband and I were thrilled to be staying in one of the gorgeous villas looking towards the see, which coming from a number of days in the ‘hill country’ it was a welcome view change. The whole vibe is chilled but super professional. We wanted to cancel one night of our next destination and stay another night at Malabar Hills as we love dot so much but sadly the cancellation policy didn’t allow for that. I would have happily moved in there! It might be more expensive than some places but worth every penny. Can’t wait to return. 5 stars without a doubt.

Reviewed By 498rustysI recently stayed with my wife and 2 year old at 02 villas for 1 month. There were so many little nuance things I liked about this place. In no particular order here are some of them. My child is not an easy sleeper and having the beach so close was a God send both for naptime and night time sleeping. You can actually see the beach from the property gates. The walk is maybe 50-100 metres across a railway and then a main road. This part of the beach is super quiet and perfect for putting babies to sleep. The walk there and back always reminded me of the railway scene from stand by me. The gardens the property is set on are also amazing. Litrally on the banks of a river. Which naturally brings a lot of nature and wildlife. The birds that nest in the trees around produce an amazing orchestra of sound at both dusk and dawn that will give you jungle feelings. Sometime a night walk around the garden would be enough to help the little one sleep. The property is far away enough from the road that you cannot hear any vehicles. Yet the sound of crashing waves can be heard in the distance. The hospitality shown to us by the owner Jeewan and his family was emence. I felt like he went out of his way to accommodate us and help in any way possible. The villa is set on the land where he has his own family home, so immediately you feel like you are amongst a local community. Jeewan who is born and raised in Weligama litrally knows everyone and everything about the area and is able to advise and direct you in your needs during your stay, with great wisdom. The level of the finish on the villa is outstanding compared to other properties I have seen in the area. There was even a jacuzzi in our apartment. Fully functional with party lights and a radio/speaker system. The apartments are very well equipped, with comfy new furnishings. The beds in our apartment were the best beds I've ever slept in. The wife agreed There are always people on the property which made it feel safe, not that it is needed. This part of the world is super secure and we regularly slept without locking the doors and sometimes forgot keys in our bike etc. I also really enjoyed the views from the roof which showed river to oneside and railway to another. This was a good spot for early morning yoga. Squirrels climb off the over hanging coconut trees and run around on the roof. Added bonus! I also enjoyed the walk from 02 Villas to the best surf point on weligama beach infront of W15. The walk takes approximately 15 mins. Not only was it a great warm up and cool down before and after surfing, but also a very relaxing walk home. After the fisherman's boats, there are hardly any people around when returning from town, leaving you alone to your thoughts. A few small coconut shacks and food spots along the way, incase you need some fuel. Highly recommend a stay at 02 Villas.

Reviewed By romainm96Amazing place to stay in Weligama The owner and the guys who are working there are just amazing , they just helped me many times because I got a sea urchin injury on my foot They bring me to the clinic and to a local healer (it was half an hour from the place) AC room are very comfortable , cannot complain about nothing Thanks a lot for everything guys Romain

В доме живет милая семья с двумя детьми, они очень дружелюбны и приветливы, самое приятное впечатление от проживания у меня сложилось именно от ощущений, вызванных этой семьей)) Комнаты сдаются на первом и втором этажах. Наша была на первом этаже, хотя всегда предпочитаем комнату повыше, но в данном случае это был идеальный вариант: вход в комнату рядом со входом в дом, очень близко холодильник и питьевая вода, которую можно купить у хозяев, своя маленькая верандочка, которая по вечерам почти всегда свободна, если она и была занята, то только самими хозяевами, которые проводили вечер в кругу семьи, но не другими гостями дома. На втором этаже общая кухня, есть столовые приборы и посуда, общая веранда с балконом. В нашей комнате была кровать, сетка, вентилятор, окно, шкаф, сушилка, стул, стол, туалет и душ. Все очень чисто и аккуратно, по вечерам достаточно тихо. Дом расположен близко от разных кафе, рынка, автобусной станции. Есть WiFi, можно сдать в стирку вещи, оплата идет за вес. Огромное спасибо за прекрасное время, проведенное в этом чудесном доме))

Reviewed By Laia BIt is a very clean place, nice host who cares about everything you need all the time. It's cheap and comfortable, near the center of the city and of the beach! They have a really good breakfast and cheap and also if you need to cook, he can let you his kitchen. I would recommend the stay here.?

Reviewed By French70My partner, my two boys and our friends with their daughter, arrived at villa pelena on Boxing Day 2016. We stayed for 12 nights and it was 100% a slice of heaven. We had the three top rooms. All en suite with a communal area and kitchen in front and private balconies at the back. On our first morning, we were woken by a very loud noise on the roof which we thought was rain. We all ran outside and it was monkeys! Loads and loads of beautiful grey langur monkeys. Every morning and it didn't get boring! In the afternoon a different family of monkeys arrived. Little brown ones. Sitting down by the river at 6am was mind blowing. The kingfishers and red tailed beautiful birds and the sound of the village opposite waking up make for a magical slow wake up. The train track is near and even that was stunning. Walking up the track in the morning, saying hello to every family you met was the happiest feeling a person can have. Ranga and his family made us so welcome. The children instantly made firm friends with theirs and were inseparable. Their breakfasts were simple yet tasty but when Ranga cooks, wow!!!! We never wanted to eat out! He also has THE best laugh in the world. Welligama beach is a 5 minute walk but we found that it didn't have enough to do on it so we made the daily tuk tuk ride to Mirissa beach (10 mins £1.50) where the surf is fantastic and a lot of bars/restaurants. It's beautiful. Trust me. In conclusion I can't recommend villa pelena enough and I can't wait to go back and take Ranga up on his tours to the hill country etc.

Best food and amazing views

Transfer was arranged from the airport at a great price, comfortable journey down to the south coast with AC and space to stretch out after a long flight. The location is amazing, from the restaurant and roof top terrace you can see for miles and miles all around. Watching the sun go down with a cold beer after eating the best local curries I have ever tasted was a highlight of the trip. Namal is a brilliant host and his wife Sudu the most talented cook. Breakfast everyday was huge and gave plenty of energy for surfing and exploring. Every evening meal was a different dish, fresh local ingredients and so so tasty! Can't recommend enough, come stay and you will see.
