Ritigala is one of three strict nature reserves extending a land area of about 60 acres of prime Ecological wonder in the dry zone. This forest land is strewn with ancient archeological remains, lakes and forests which is a unique nature reserve of it’s own, not found anywhere else in the island. The Ashram is located amidst a serene natural environment of semi forest and medicinal plants to create the right atmosphere of making you feel relaxed and bonded with nature thus helping you to rejuvenate your mind and body taking out the stress of your usual busy lifestyle. Dr. Hewanayaka, Shiron and their family (especially sweet Dulara) and the entire staff made our stay incredibly special. We really felt like family. They were so incredibly helpful with scheduling and with our son so that both my husband and I could receive the treatments regularly. The Yoga classes with Kingsley were wonderful. He was so patient and caring, even when our 6-year-old popped in and out of class. The meals were delicious, the service unsurpassed. They asked us regularly for feedback, and always explained all of the food dishes with pride and patience for our many questions. They set up special events for us like a Kandyan dance class, a boat ride on the lake to see lots of lotuses and flying foxes, a trip to Ritigala monastery and even came with us on an elephant safari which made our 6-year-old so happy! This stay so far exceeded our expectations, I would give it 10 out of 5 stars if I could!! The traditional food, the Ayurvedic treatments, our wonderful therapists, the kitchen staff, Shiron's wonderful service-oriented presence, the fantastic Doctor, all of it. We have missed it there since the day we left. But we left there feeling healthy, balanced, light-hearted and stress-free. Thank you so much to everyone at Athreya! We could never thank you all enough for making our time in Sri Lanka truly unforgettable. We hope to be back someday!

Besides, full of trees and brushes you may feel the cool and windy climate though it belongs to the dry climatic area. Habarana is probably the best destination for safari, wildlife, bird watching, nature lovers and situated in the centre of Sri Lankan cultural triangle.

Its location suited us perfectly as Habarana is very centrally located- and gave us fast/ easy access East (Anuradhapura, Mihintale, Ritigala, Wilpattu NP), West (Polonnaruwa, Trincomalee, Kaudulla & Minneriya NP) and South (Sigiriya, Dambulla). The room was "grand" very nice and spacious (very, very easily fitted the two, full sized, beds), with a very high ceiling. The ensuite was also large & very nice (both functional and functioning). It was all beautifully clean with nicely tiled floors.. We had a nice verandah overlooking their large front garden. The food was excellent, The price (food & accommodation) was really good and they took full care of our driver (apparently for free). The staff had excellent English and were very attentive, caring and helpful The aircon and wifi worked well too.

Reviewed By CatalinaC866We stayed there for two nights. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable, giving us a good night rest. In the morning we had a delicious breakfast with honey/coconut filled pancakes, coconut bread, egs, coffee/tea and a delicious fruit juice. The host was very friendly and helpful. The garden was absolutely incredible, with a lot of plants and flowers and we also saw squirrels and butterflies.

Excellent breakfast included, our host Bandula drove us to local restaurants each evening and returned for us after dinner. Our host also provided transport to attractions in the vacinity at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Amazing guesthouse
Reviewed By EwaForeverMy friend and I stayed at Homely Guest for two nights in February 2020. We loved everything about this place. It has a beautiful garden with sitting outside, perfect for relaxing. The room was nice and clean but most importantly the lady who runs the guest house is super nice and very helpful. She prepared our room super quickly as we turned up without booking quite late in the evening. In the morning we got amazing breakfast with coffee which we ate sitting on the terrace and chatting to the super friendly owner. This place is really amazing and good value for money too. Location is perfect:quiet but close to the main road, town and a bus stop which is located when you walk up to the main road. We got help with renting a motorbike and booking a visit to national park. We would recommend Homely Guest to everyone visiting Habarana. Excellent service and 5* stars from us. Flo and Eva

Reviewed By kaymY726EPWe were recommended this restaurant as being well known for excellent, authentic food. The recommendation was spot on,. The food was fresh, delicious and plenty of it. The chef asked us how spicy we like our food before she cooked it and it was wonderful, just as we asked, not too spicy at all. Each dish was explained to us and there was a local dessert but we asked for fresh fruit, which came from the restaurant garden. The people working in the restaurant were so friendly and accommodating, it was a great experience and we will return next year. The wash rooms were clean and well maintained.

A great family, very helpful, most amazing food (best of the trip) and loads of it (great value too, 4 huge meals for 1 adult 3 kids was £45 in total – not sure of individual prices). She was happy to tweak the food to what my kids liked best (egg fried rice and egg fried noodles were a hit with them, with small amount of the various curries). Great breakfast included, with delicious tea (or a packed breakfast if you are setting off early - we ate ours at the top of Sigirya!) We had the 5 person AC room which was simple and comfortable. Totally recommend. The family were so helpful - arranged a safari for the afternoon we arrived, a tuk tuk to get to Sigirya, made sure we got on the right bus to Pollunawaru (45 mins by bus - a great way to travel), took us to the lake (5 minute walk down the road opposite). The 2 kids are lovely. Definitely stay here if you can!

"Kamatha" is a wonderful place where you won't feel the day go by. Every minute every hour it's a diffrrent vibe & different adventure. If you are a nature lover or a person who likes to go off the edge this is the place for you. Me and my family spent a weekend in Kamatha and it was the best weekend ever. Waner, the guy who accompanied us for Nature walk, cycling and kayaking. If you like to live on the edge, off roading with him will give you the best experience that you will never forget.
