Just at the northern edge of the Ala Too mountain range lies Kyrgyzstan's lively northern capital, Bishkek. With numerous green spaces, parks and gardens alongside Soviet-era buildings and monuments, the city retains its former Soviet Asian flavor. The city is home to many monuments and cultural institutions, including the National Historical Museum and Ala Too Square, where the changing of the guard takes place daily. The Dordoy Bazaar provides ample shopping, especially for Chinese exports.

Asia Mountains felt like our little home during our stay in Kyrgyzstan. The family room was clean and spacious with two separate bedrooms. The staff was the highlight -- They are fantastic. Recently my wife and I came down with a stomach bug and at midnight Doran who was on night shift voluntarily ran to a pharmacy to get us some medicine. This was reflective of the quality and helpfulness of the staff through out trip. Thanks Hotel Asia Mountains!

Hotel Astor located in central part of the city in 10 minutes walking distance from central square Ala-Too.
OK. Please listen to my honest review, both negative and positive, but most importantly, the first. This hotel is basically not-functioning. There doesn't seem to be any real staff present and it looks abandoned. No maintenance (as you will see from the pictures) and no cleaning. Sadly this was once (and recently it seems) a very elegent property, however the photos don't reflect the reality anymore. The room when I entered had sunflower seeds over the carpet and the bathroom hadn't really been cleaned to a hotel standard. Likewise the room had noticeable spots of dirtiness, especially the carpet, and people had evidently been smoking in there. In fact, for my 8 nights, the smell of smoke was continuous. Additionally a women started banging on my door at 2am and tried to open it (she found better luck next door... If you know what I mean...the paper thin walls didn't hide much). Basically this hotel is no longer functioning and is essentially abandoned. My room was never cleaned during the entire stay. The kettle had a different pulet to the wall and the white "gowns" were stained with brown patches. I don't recommend staying here when equally priced, yet better alternatives are available. I have since moved. The positives are the design, which is why I chose it, the room, which, although not maintained, was very elegent and very comfortable. The bathroom had underfloor heating too, which one could alter using a thermostat and the air con was good. There was also a fridge.

We returned to this hotel every time we were back in Bishkek. It’s super clean and the staff are really helpful, particularly the guy on reception who speaks perfect English. Highly recommended. Note that only the rooms upstairs have AC.

Booked for one night through Booking.com at US$37–a fairly low price for Bishkek. The owner kindly arranged for pick-up, which I accepted (10 US$ instead of the standard 9$ taxi-fare from the airport but the place is hard to find so I didn’t mind—and the driver got the whole fare. The hotel is located on the ground floor of a large apartment block in the midst of a grey soviet-style compound with trees and wild plants growing everywhere in the yard (“Good bye Lenin” atmosphere). The owner, Nura was quite welcoming and babbled away in fluent English. My room, a re-designed appartement room was large, clean, comfortable and well furnished (I would have wanted a bed-side reading lamp but it is not very common in Central Asia). The en-suite bathroom was perfect. On the other hand breakfast was a bit disappointing (2 puff balls, a cup of tea and a banana) and served on a tray in the room. Since I asked to prolong my stay, I was offered to stay in a studio near by. I accepted and was quoted a price that I understood to be $18 a night ( really dirt cheap in Bishkek where hotels are rather expensive. It turned out to be 34, still a fairly good deal given the property). I was moved in the late afternoon to a large studio in a fairly luxurious new building, with a balcony facing the Ala Too chain, a full kitchen, a full bathroom, including a washing machine), a hallway and of course a big bedroom. For breakfast, I will have to prepare it myself or buy a large cappuccino from a store by the university building nearby. And like the hotel proper this is within a five minutes’ walk of Chuy Avenue, one of the main streets of Bishkek.

Newly built nice and comfy hotel in Southern part of Bishkek. Comprise of 10 twin rooms en-suite bathrooms, TV, air conditioners and wireless Internet access.
Hidden down an alley off a side street far out in the southern suburbs, it offers hostel-style narrow bunk beds and limited service. Breakfast is good, but no other meals are offered and shops, restaurants and public transport are a long walk away. Rooms are clean, but not serviced. Rear rooms overlook a metal workshop. Bishkek has many better and more convenient options. ps US$10 laundry bill for 2 items, unpressed!

i have been at this hotel with my husband for couple of hours only. we were about to book for one night but unfortunately, it is impossible to stay even one hour. why? because of non working air conditioner and millions of mosquitoes. their window netting was totally broken! in 15 min i became totally red! even though they do not provide something from mosquitoes. i came out to a russian lady (admin) i have asked discount on paid money. she refused to give, moreover, she said that window net is broken beacuse of guests and thats it! no apologies no tryings to solve problems. she told me that if she will make discount, the owner of the hotel will take this money from her salary. i will never recommend this hotel to anyone!
