Reviewed By lucyroserobertsLoved it here! Was a great hotel with cute little quirks that show that the hosts love the local area. Was sad to leave and go back to Tokyo. I have allergies and told them in advance. The food was incredible. I find it very rare for allergies to be catered for in Japan so it was a wonderful surprise the effort they put in to the food. The meals were incredible and so much food! The host speaks very good English which is a handy plus if you are a tourist.

warm, cosy, close to beach
Reviewed By lpincher94a 2 minute walk from the beach, and across from the road of an impressive shrine, close to convenience stores and next to a bus stop, this inn is well located for all your needs. staff are warm and friendly, beds are comfy (and provide hot blankets in the winter which were a godsend). Breakfast is pretty good, standard Japanese-western fare. my favourite bit was the 2 private onsen you could use, both warm and without a roof, so sitting back and watching the stars at night was absolutely amazing in the cold. definitely would stay here again if I ever went back to Izu.

Reviewed By CathyinHamburgWe were delighted to find a spacious, tastefully decorated suite in this remote location. We sat for hours reading and looking at the sea. A perfect break from the big cities. The dinner was fabulous. Only downside: inflexible meal times; breakfast at 08:00 or 08:30, dinner at 18:00/18:30. Day trip suggestion: the 7 waterfalls at Kawazu

Reviewed By miniminoWe got a triple room and it comes with a loft which you can lay a futon. There is a huge private outdoor bath in the room with a big tub. You can adjust your own water temperature to suit your needs. The hotel is new and the room actually have a ipod/iphone dock which you could play music from. Both the TV and the beds are huge. The 2 single beds is perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids (below 6). Dinner and breakfast is buffet style. Highly recommended accomodation in Shimoda.

Great spot, 2 minutes to the beach
Reviewed By danielley974The hotel is very close to famous Shirahama beach, which is fantastic. You need to be good on foot as you have to go up and down a hill. I was there while almost nobody visited this area coz of the recent emergency state. The staff at the hotel was not very friendly. They didn t serve breakfast, not even coffee, nothing. So i had to go to the convienient store three times a day. I almost had the feeling they were not happy about me being their guest.

Reviewed By esimbilloI dont usually write about the places I stayed to but I just thought this one deserve a review.. also to help others who is thinking of booking this villa but having second thought just like me since it doesnt provide much photos. Im a kind of person who gather information first before making decision... with this one i cant get that much info or review but book it anyway since it is only for a 1 night stay.. so we stayed there for a night and i must say my family and I loves the room we stayed too. aside from the clean room, the man who assist us was really nice up until we check out and waited until we go.. wave goodbye at us and my kids wave back to him and they were smiling... felt like u just went to a family vacation house and a family is waving bye at u saying see u soon... but anyway this is my review... dont get discourage by the apperance of the outside & the lobby it may not look fancy but for us it looks fine I provided some photos... anyway when we get to the room I was amazed because its very clean and spacious it felt like it is more than what I paid for. I didnt expect too much because I know I chose the cheapest place that I can book since we just need a place to rest after beach and before a long drive the next day but it exceeded my expectation... their very generous with their amenities they have instant coffee and electric kettle, theres also a fridge where you can put your food, with us what we did is we already brought some food so we dont need to buy outside after beach because there is no restaurant close to the villa but if u didn’t brought food there is a close convenient store at shirahama beach where you can buy food and bring it at the villa they have table and couch too inside the room... oh I love the shampoo and conditioner the brand is shisheido (so generous) the bottles were big that even you stay for a week it will be enough they provide shaver, toothbrush and toothpaste too and the towels are white/clean... I love everything about this place the only negative thing I can say is that the top part of the shower curtain has little mold but we didn’t mind since the shower curtain is clean just only the top part maybe because its not new but like i said we didnt mind, because bathroom is so clean... Were planning to go back shimoda again next year since 1 day is not enough to explore it and we will definitely book this place again... thanks again to the man who assisted us. He is so nice...

Reviewed By Von1955Such a wonderful relaxing place. Very comfortable, spotlessly clean and the best food. The young couple who own this ryokan are enthusiastic about everything they do. The food was superb and every dish was explained to us in perfect English. The bedding was the best we have had in our 3 week tour. The location is quite in a small village which adds to the magic of the place. I’d recommend hiring a car if touring this area I hindsight we could have done a lot more with ease if we had taken this option.

Shirahama Mariner is a guest house of Izu Shirahama Beach in Shimoda. It is with fine sea view cafe, surfshop and hulashop. Free rental bicycles for guest . We have rental surfboard, wetsuits and bodyborads. Surfing Shoool is held. Every day is opened. Along Rote 135. It takes 15 minits from Shimoda Station by bus. Bus stop is Shirahama Kaigan(beach).

Reviewed By cafe-orange自分の家みたいにのんびりできます。海の目の前にある宿泊施設は、お部屋が４つくらいで、みんなで使うお風呂とお手洗いですが、海遊び好きならこの便利さと立地は素敵だと思います。下田駅からバスで１０分くらいでしょうか・・。夜遅くお食事するには車がないと近隣でいろんなものを見つけるのはできないので、コンビニを利用するか、もしくはどこかでお食事してから宿泊がいいかもです。１階のカフェは２１時まででした。サーフィンスクールは提携の宿の温泉付きでいいかんじです。
