This hotel is less than 5 minutes away from the station. You can see the hotel from the station entrance so you cannot miss it and go the wrong way. The reception is on Level 2 which is also the lobby ,there are 2 ways of getting there, either walk up the stairs or take the lift up which is easier especially if you have luggage. The check in process was quick and the staff explained that we had a free voucher for a welcome drink at the restaurant. The staff also advised that there was a small laundry on Level 3 if need to do any washing. We then went to our room and found it to be quite roomy and bigger than the usual rooms which was a surprise. The bathroom was big also so could move around easily. The room was comfortable and also had nice view of the distant mountains. The laundry on Level 3 consisted of two washing machines which could wash and dry. It cost 500 yen for 5kg wash and 400 yen for a 1kg wash and 100 yen to just dry. You had to make sure no one else was using the machines before you wanted to wash yourself. After settling in we went down to the restaurant to have our complimentary drinks. The staff member gave you a menu which told you which drinks were complimentary and then could order them. We chose the cappuccino and it was hot and creamy and it was very enjoyable. There were quite a few restaurants within walking distance from the hotel so we're spoilt for choice and decide what you wanted. There was also a kitanoyatai just 5 minute walk from the hotel. This hotel did not have complimentary breakfast so you need to go out to find a cafe. All staff that I came in contact were friendly and went out of their way to help the best way they could. If I had a chance would return to this hotel and stay longer instead of two days as enjoyed this hotel quite much .

After a long flight from Australia this was our first hotel and a very good choice. The setting is beautiful. The breakfast room overlooks a forested garden and is a delight to watch the birds and squirrels running around in the morning. The staff were helpful, but English is not widely spoken in this part of Japan. The Onsen was very good and hot. The mineral waters slightly brown are supposed to relax and beautify at the same time.

出張利用 Business Trip

Location is about a 5-minute walk from the Obihiro station, and like other Dormy Inn hotels, it has hot springs, Yonakisoba (complimentary soba noodle), laundry space, and other services that are welcomed by business travelers. I was very happy with the hot springs, but it would have been nice if it was an open-air bath with a view of the sky. Breakfast was also good with Tokachi's famous pork bowl and local dishes. Perhaps because of "the state of emergency" was lifted, I saw many groups of office workers who seemed to come on business trips.

Spacious room and free parking

Reviewed By SnoopyCHAN

We stayed in a triple room for one night. It appears that the hotel is converted from a residental apartment building. The room is spacious, with one double bed and two single beds. The toilet is separated from the bathroom. The bathroom is very big, with a bathing tub. Hot water is supplied steadily and the water pressure is enough. The room is functional, clean and tidy. The hotel is located a bit far from the JR station, about 15 to 20 mins walk, but the plus side is it offers free parking. However, parking lots are limited. Suggested to park your car to the 1/F of the carpark where you can directly access the hotel through its side entrance. However, be reminded that there are steps in front of the entrance, so it may be a problem if you have big baggages. Anyway, there are also stairs at the main entrance. Breakfast is included in my room rate, there are plenty of choices and the food is yummy. At night, there is free udon noodle provided, you can cook your own udon noodle and it tastes good too. This is a good hotel if you drive, the room rate is reasonable and there is free parking. However, if you visit by JR, I would suggest you to stay in another hotel nearer to the station, this hotel is definitely a bit far from the station and is not convenient if you are carrying many luggages.

When I visit Obihiro, I stay at other hotel and I use the sauna here. But this time I stayed here. I booked online requesting a nonsmoking room. I received message back for the confirmation. But they put me in smoking room. I complained. They said they would give me a non smoking room, but ended up another smoking room, but this time they put air cleaner on. Basically they lied to me. I won't stay here again. But breakfast was pretty good.

Hotel makes the best out of ageing property

Reviewed By kwsg

There used to be two hotels here at Lake Shikaribetsu, but when the Fukuhara shuttered a couple of years ago, the Fusui was the last one left standing. It is an old property that doesn't look like it has seen much investment in the past decade or so, but it is well maintained. Service is pretty good. There was someone hanging around the front door observing if guests are coming in, so that he can jump in to assist. A cute touch at check in: the clerk will bring out a little flag on the counter, indicating your nationality. We were escorted to our room and was shown how everything works. All rooms here are lake-facing, with a choice of the three-storey main wing or the newer (or rather, the not-so-old) eight-storey annex. For this stay, we splurged a little and picked the "special room" in the annex on the top level. This has a special entrance (the Japanese sliding door leads to little rock garden), takes up one corner of the floor, and comes with windows on two sides, offering 180-degree views of the lake. It's huge, maybe 50 or so sqm. One note: although this is a smoking room (I believe all rooms are) we couldn't detect any lingering smells. Our rate included two meals, both served in the room. The dishes were tasty, but quality isn't as top-notch as the more high-end ryokans. But what they lacked, they made up in quantity. We are used to kaiseki dinners, but the number of dishes served here is really something else. For the first time we had to leave food uneaten. The onsen is located on the ground floor of the main wing. The outdoor section is relatively small, and even with the -15°C temp that night, the water here seems to be hotter than the usual. There's a laundry area near the onsen with two washers and two dryers. So the reason we stayed here is, of course, to visit the Kotan ice igloo village. We were considering doing a day trip, but the ice bar and concert hall were only open at night and we wanted to see those. The hotel is conveniently located just steps from the venue; you can literally see it right outside your window. During this festival, you could also book a night in the igloo using the hotel's website, but the option is not easy to find. Bookings don't open till quite close in, if I recall correctly, and it's all in Japanese. Look under the "notices" section (use Google Translate). We toyed with the idea but didn't go for it in the end.
