Hotel Livemax Sendai Aobadori

Excellent no frills hotel with reasonable prices.

Reviewed By fymkong

A fairly new hotel in a quiet corner. Walkable to Sendai International Center - roughly 15 minutes at strolling speed. They gave me the corner room which looked slightly bigger than the other single rooms. Staff spoke limited English. Hotel room is compact but functional. Expect a small bathroom for the prices. Stayed four nights there. Cleaning services are performed if you remember to place the request magnet tag on the door. If not, you will find a bag hanging by your door with fresh towels and pyjamas. Great value but again, don’t expect concierge services if you speak limited Japanese.

Modern, big beautiful best hotel in Naruko Onsen town

Reviewed By SerCh11

I think this is the newest hotel in Naruko town. This town has steam coming out from manhole and sulphur smell is strong here. Hotel room has air purifier but I can still smell the sulphur. We were staying on the highest floor with great view of the town. Hotel is located on the highest location in the town. The narrow streets make it a little hard to find, you just need to head up the hill. Other hotels around this town look old and dated except for this modern hotel. It is quite big with 4 private bath. You don’t need to reserve and can use it as long as it is empty. At the bath common area, there is extra service of free yakult drinks. I tried the common indoor bath which is huge and the smaller outdoor bath also has free apple juice beside the bath. But the open air bath is a little walk from the indoor bath and you may catch a chill if you are not careful. Dinner and breakfast are served in a hall. There are large variety of food (buffet) and if you pay extra, you will get buffet alcohol as well. You have a lot of privacy as you eat in your own cubicles in the dining hall. This hotel provides good friendly service but not much English is understood. They have a corner with a large variety of pretty yukata that you can choose from (1 per customer). There is a well stock gift shops. I bought a lot of delicious and reasonably priced snacks and souvenirs during the discounts time when I saw the advertisement in their lift. On the whole, I would recommend all to stay here if you were to go to Naruko Onsen.

The hotel is satisfactory, but probably will try another place if go to Naruko again

The hot spring water is supposed to not be clear. However, i noticed while bathing a leaf came up out of the water, so I was thinking that they could keep it a little cleaner. The food was good but could offer half-buffet for dinner and i would rate the hotel better. There is not much of a view from the hotel and it seems like it is a older hotel. Although, the hotel is satisfactory, but nothing outstanding to make me not try a try to find a better place in Naruko if i go again.

The hotel is very nice. Don’t expect a shower in your room. You have to use the common shower in the ground floor, which to me was a nice experience. Love the sauna and the jacuzzi. The food was also excellent and the drinks selection was also excellent. The single malt Japanese whisky was so good. Would love to come back here and stay a bit longer. An overnight stay is simply not enough. So much to explore and to try out.

Wonderful place to stay

We stayed for two nights at this great hotel in Matsushima. The owners are really welcoming and very kind. We don’t speak Japanese, and the owners were great at communicating with us in English. They were so lovely and told us all about the town & where to eat/what to see etc. The rooms are a good size, and have good amenities- everything you need. There is a Japanese public bath as well, which is lovely. Thankyou so much for a great trip. Sarah & Chris x

Hospitality at its finest!

Reviewed By Youko F

Went to Daikon no Hana for summer vacation with my friend, who went two months ago for her birthday with her family. The staff there were very quick to recognize her, greet her warmly, and ask about her family. It made the first impression already very welcoming. The hotel itself is a wonderful compound of cottages connected by wooden walkways, surrounded by nature. What surprised me were the amazing amount of amenities, such as free drinks for 24 hours in the lounge, DVDs to borrow, a beautiful reading room, a separate cottage for sauna, and the fact that even the public baths were 24 hours! The cottage was so spacious it was almost too big for two people! Beds and pillows were the most comfortable I've had in a long time. All the cottages have a wonderful view of the forest outside. The meals were not only delicious but gorgeous, and the restaurant boasts their vegetables are fresh from their own garden (which you can see at the compound). Serving staff are the same as check-in staff, and they are ever friendly and patient. The private baths are traditional, beautiful, and immerses you in nature with its proximity to the woods and the river. It's a serene place to sit back and relax. This place definitely gives you a sense of not being at a hotel but an exclusive club, as there are only about more than a dozen rooms, so staff attentiveness is a guarantee. During my check-out a staff member walked my friend and me to our car and waited in the rain to see us off. On a whole, my experience here was so relaxing and pampering without too much frills, I can't wait to go back when it's covered in snow!

Good hotel with friendly staff

I was given a gigantic room, very comfortable. Good breakfast and kind, helpful staff. Matsushima is hillish, but they picked me up from the railway station and drove me back there when I left. f you have no luggage, you reach the hotel in about 10min walking from the seaside. There was something poetic about the room and the view over the bay. I would stay there again. The only negative point: very bad internet connection, and only in the lobby.

Good value for the price

This was a last minute booking to one of 3 most beautiful places in Japan, according to most ratings. It is a short drive out of town and is very easy to find. There are only 4 rooms with a nice public bath and 2 co-ed, private baths that can be reserved for 50 min. We were greeted with our name in Romanji on a reader board next to 3 others all in kanji. Our bags were carried upstairs and placed in our room. There is a nice walking trail near by that goes along a bluff and through some woods. There is also a small marina nearby. On the negative side, two railroad tracks are near and the trains can be heard in all rooms. A traditional breakfast and dinner were included and the food was excellent and plentiful. All of the ingredients and fish were fresh with a wide variety of dishes. The town of Matsushima-shi is a 5-10 min drive and is beautiful. A boat ride through the islands is a must. There is a 40 min ride and a 1hour and 20 min ride. We found the shorter to be plenty. There are also several hikes/walks around islands connected by bridge. They are beautiful and easy. In the towns there are plenty of restaurants of all types and many shops. There are also several temples and shrines. This is a great place to stroll. We did, however, find the night life limited. The whole place shuts down. We had to go to the fringes of town just to find an place to have a drink. We will return here.
