Second only to Berlin in size and population, the city of Hamburg is home to one of the biggest harbors in Europe. A stroll along its many waterways and canals illustrates why it has been called the "Venice of the North." Don't miss a trip to the local fish market (Fischmarkt), the Merchants District (marked by its imposing red-brick architecture), a fine dining experience along the river or a night out in the university quarter. And did we mention the Reeperbahn (red light district)? It's quite famous for its… red lights.

I arrived the hotel very late evening. There were construction works going on, therefore most of the roads were blocked. Nearby, car repair services are located, so there is no good look from the hotel room. Reception guy tried to be nice. But the reception area was very crowded. The room was cold and I switched on the room heater, however, was not able to heat. So I spent my two nights in the cold room. Breakfast was so-so.

Rooms are spacious and modern but bathroom tiny. Shower is good. Beds and pillows were comfy enough for us. The area around it is a bit boring but there are shops and restaurants in walking distance. We slept very well as it was so quiet, no road traffic outside so thats a plus. Only some guests decided to stand outside our window to chat and smoke in the early morning, to our annoyance. But that’s not the hotel’s fault. There is free bottle of water in the room, but coffee cost extra, a bit disappointing but ok. Breakfast was okay for the price, its included in the room price. There could be some more variety, and I missed peanut butter but that’s just personal preference. Staff was friendly to us, nothing to say about them. Only thing with this hotel is that the parking can be full if you arrive late at night. In short, I would recommend this hotel if you need an affordable place to spend one or maybe two nights around Hamburg, or if you need to catch a flight the next day. We chose it mainly because of its proximity to the airport combined with the affordable price.

This is a small accommodation spot. The rooms are clean and have all that you need. There is wifi and the 'honesty' breakfast system was a real treat, with a lovely choice of things to eat. The staff were friendly and very helpful too.

I read up on the reviews after booking this place and instantly regretted it, however, once we arrived that completely changed. This is a 2 star hotel and less than €100 a night. For the price it was very pleasant. The hotel is clean and the interior modern. The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom had everything you need and the location was great too. The staff were lovely and friendly like all the other reviews say too. Zero complaints.

Durften nicht einmal was drauflegen.

We stayed here in the middle of July. After a few days of looking for Hotels near the city centre but not wanting to pay a fortune to ensure we had a private bathroom (Trust me, it's near impossible... Feel free to search) I came accross the Stadthotel. I was a bit dubious to begin with as the Hotel is a good 1.5miles from the 'heart' of Hamburg. However..... After realising the nearest S1 station (Berliner Tor) was 5 minutes walk from the Hotel we were delighted with the location. The Hotel is easily missed but does have signage advertising it. The interior is very nice and appears freshly renovated. The check in was straight forward and friendly. The receptionist explained clearly the facilities (including a boxing ring and gym facilities on the 2nd floor). There is no 24hour manned reception but Hotel is secure via Card entry system and a contact info card given - we did not feel unsafe at any point. There is a small lift in the guest entrance and old fashioned floating concrete steps should you choose to climb to any of the 4 floors. There is a nice, fresh modern and contemporary look to the corridors and rooms. We stayed on the 3rd floor amd could see down in to the gym and accross the SBahn tracks and area. We got the Sun all day! The room was very nice and came with a fan which was needed due to the humidity! Little sweets greeted is on our pillows and tea/coffee facilities were provided. There was a fridge and safe and complimentary toiletries. Tv with lots of channels (news, sport etc) for those who like to spend their holiday watching tv.... Overall the Hotel was very good. The only interaction we had with staff was at check in and he was pleasant. We would definitely stay here again. If you do.. Make sure you remember Berliner Tor station is well serviced and dont be put off by the distance. It takes less than 5 minutes on the S1 to central station and services many other parts of the city!

We spend 1 night in this hotel in South Hamburg. We 've been facing a misunderstanding with the reservation that was problematic (no bed for our son!). The man at the reception made all he could to find a solution and succeed. Very good service!
