EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE

we had a last minute emergency and the property honored our reimbursement. Other properties were not as understanding. In this day and age with everything going on in the world, more places should operate with the excellent customer service and human understanding that Camino Verde does. We did not get to take advantage of this beautiful property but we plan to certainly return one day and we will absolutely make up for this loss. THANK YOU AGAIN! <3

Beautiful, magical Caribbean style guest house and grounds

We spent six nights at Playa Negra Guesthouse and absolutely loved it! The owners, Marise and Pierre, are kind, very helpful and knowledgeable of the area. They are enthusiastic in pointing out and teaching about the animals and plants on the property. We saw sloths, multiple bird varieties, frogs and heard monkeys. The gardens with pool area is stunningly beautiful and peaceful. The Playa Negra beach and ocean are just steps out the door from the guesthouse. Our room was lovely, meticulously clean and refreshed every day. It was an easy walk to the amazing Parque Nacional Cahuita, multiple restaurant choices and small grocery stores. My favorite memory is sitting on our veranda in the morning, drinking coffee, and listening to both the ocean waves lapping the shoreline and howler monkeys in the trees! We did not have a car and didn't need one. The owners arranged for a driver from San Jose for us. One day we took a local bus to Manzanillo and Punta Uva. It is also easy to arrange for a cab. We LOVED our stay at Playa Negra Guesthouse!!

Villas Kalimba ... Paradise on earth

My son and I stayed a Villas Kalimba for 5 days at the end of May and I can not say enough good things about it. This Small boutique hotel across a tiny (not busy) street to the beach, has everything one could want for a beach vacation. The villas are well appointed and very clean. The staff (especially Diego) are so accommodating. Town is easily accessible by foot yet the Villas somehow seem removed. I can't wait to return.

Almost perfect!

Lovely hotel, great location, delicious breakfast, great rooms, super clean and tranquil. The beautiful pool area felt like a premium experience on a reasonable budget. Staff were really helpful when it came to arranging excursions and airport shuttles. My one complaint is that there are no reception staff at night and after 9pm you need a key code to get back in. This wouldn’t be an issue except that one night we got back after a power cut earlier in the evening and the keypad had stopped working even after the power came on. We were locked out of the hotel and it was doubly stressful as it was our last night and we were due to be picked up at 6:30am to be taken to the airport. So all our belongings, including passports, were trapped inside and we were trapped outside. We called the only contact number we had for any hotel staff and there was no answer - and it was only about 9:30, not the middle of the night. In the end I managed to climb into the hotel by scaling the 9 foot door in the perimeter wall and crawling through a small gap in the top of it, and letting my boyfriend in from the inside. However if this happened to a party that didn’t contain someone agile enough to climb the gate and small enough to fit through the gap above the door, it could have resulted in a night sleeping on the beach and a very expensive, long journey back to the UK if we’d missed our flight. I only bring this up so that the hotel are aware of it and can come up with a solution to the problem (maybe an emergency number that guests can call outside of reception hours) as it was an otherwise perfect stay!

You’ve got to let your SOULSHINE!

Reviewed By 108JessicaKramer

I stayed at SoulShine for a total of 4 nights in May 2022. I chose it due to its proximity to a nearby retreat resort that I was attending; I also chose SoulShine because they serve breakfast/lunch onsite and they have rave reviews for their food - for good reason! It is fresh, healthy, and delicious! Thank you! The accommodations are perfect; each, its own little casita. The bed is comfortable and the room is well-appointed. SoulShine provides bathroom toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, and shower get so you do not have to pack those. There is an outside kitchen where you can prepare your own food or refrigerate any items that you need. I was very well pleased with the arrangements and was very well-taken care of by the owners, Jael and Rory. The grounds are beautiful with lots of floral and fauna. The pool is a relaxing area with a covered lounge area and places to sunbathe. SoulShine is a short walk to the beach and you can also arrange surf lessons should you desire. There is also a small market nearby. I will certainly return to SoulShine. Everyone is very friendly and more than happy to help you with anything that you may need. I am grateful and appreciative of my time spent here. Thank you!

Absolutely fabulous experience - one of our best ever!

Wow, wow, wow!! The ‘EXCELLENT’ reviews for Casa Batsu are overwhelming and raving - and this is another. Our host Carlos and his lovely family were the most gracious and hospitable hosts we've ever experienced. Everything about Casa Batsu - the room, the grounds, the setting and the delicious breakfast were spectacular. Our breakfast was servered by Carlos, who is also the chef, in several small courses, beautifully presented and so very, very good. Carlos even took us into town which is a couple of miles from Casa Batsu to find a restaurant for dinner. Our room was perfect with fresh flowers and petals everywhere - in the shower, on the bed. It was so very charming. (So many flower petals, we left them a message?). The room was quaint and very comfortable with a bath much nicer than most resorts. Our only disappointment is we were there for only one night. Had we known what an amazing experience it would be, we would have changed our itinerary to stay longer. This is the only place to stay if you’re visiting Monteverde. Thank you Carlos and family for our memorable stay!!

You Have To Stay Here!

The best hotel in San Jose. The indoor garden and koi pond are a delight to sit by during their incredible complimentary breakfast of poached eggs, fruit, fresh made toast, and jam. Other items also available they will cook up for you individually for a small fee. The darling dog Violetta calmly keeps watch over the lobby and is delighted to take pets from passerbys (but is even more delighted when you bring home your leftovers). See that? I just used the word home, because it felt like home. We were stranded for 5 extra days in San Jose after the DHL plane crashed in the one tarmac available at the airport. The owner of Casa 69 took great care of us as we sorted out what we wanted to do, allowing us early check in, and easing our anxieties. He is a brilliant and delightful man, who is well traveled and probably speaks more languages than I can count, I am just guessing! Haha. The rooms were impeccable spotless and fresh, with king sized beds, large mirrors, and excellent bathrooms. The staff were so attentive and kind. There is even a great rooftop to hang out on, and little balconies outside the rooms along the way up. I would probably not only enjoy staying here but working here as well. Thank you for saving us Casa 69! We appreciate you so much and would come back in a heartbeat.

Amazing experience from beginning to end

Reviewed By ginkybiloba

My daughter and I booked this last minute to recover from our hike the previous day. We were warmly greeted by a lovely lady who thoroughly explained the facilities. We chose to have lunch there, which ended up being a great idea (more on that later). The facilities are absolutely beautiful, and while they may not be as large as Tabacon or Baldi, I found that they were quieter and more enjoyable. We arrived shortly after they opened at 11:00 and nearly had the entire place to ourselves. The change rooms and washrooms were very clean, with private showers. The pools are gorgeous with all sorts of hidden grottos with smaller pools. There is a swim up bar with some very talented bartenders. We had a delicious 3-course lunch, with the most amazing pumpkin soup I have ever tasted. It was like velvet. For the price we paid for the day, it was an unbelievable value. It was truly a highlight of our trip.
