I made my reservation thru AirB&B and did not have any problems. This place is magnificent. The beach is steps away from any dome. The dome we stayed was clean, it had its own bathroom and A/C unit. Our host was super friendly and provided information as to nearby areas that we can visit. We also enjoyed a delicious breakfast.

Great value for one night

Very nice owners, good wifi, cute common areas, and tidy room. You get what you pay for in terms of the room, but was totally fine for one night. Was worried with no AC but the room is mild since the temperature outside isn't high. However, no hot water in the showers so be prepared.

Unique Island resort

This is a very cool, tranquil glamping experience. The tents are seriously impressive and cool with bathroom and shower. This is the one and only resort on this tiny Island, about 10 minutes by boat from the mainland. Great for those who like peace and quiet, and nature.

Pros: Very good wifi Super helpful and friendly staff Great location: restaurants, stores, etc all within a 10min walk Lovely room w gorgeous view to the town and the ocean Small kitchen area w fridge, microwave and kettle Tasty breakfast Cons: Towel hangers were all broken in the bathroom A small part of the bathroom window was missing so it couldn’t be closed properly and it got cold during the night Paper thin walls… we could hear everything (!!) the neighbors were saying and they kept us up until late at night Strong, loud winds in the area—another thing that kept us awake at night

Charming cabanas with warm hospitality

We spent one night at La Pradera during a recent trip to Monteverde. We were greeted warmly by Tony upon our arrival. He showed us around the property and pointed out a baby sloth sleeping in the tree by the reception area. This is a family run business located on a beautiful farm property with lots of birds and wildlife. They have a hiking trail around the property with signage about the local flora and fauna. Our cabana was very charming with comfortable beds and all the essentials we needed. Breakfast was excellent - made fresh to order and served with warm hospitality. My son and I have celiac disease and they were very accommodating in providing us a gluten-free breakfast. We enjoyed hiking around the property, meeting the other guests and seeing the birds and animals.

Stayed here as part of an organised tour. We loved our stay here! We were in the bottom bungalows which were clean and spacious. We had our own private garden which we often saw Toucans in which meant we had some great pictures and videos. The room had a double bed and a single bed in, No air con, but I don’t think we needed it. Bathroom was clean and had a jacuzzi bath in, which i did try out! Wi-Fi was great as each bungalow seemed to have their own router in the room. Breakfast was one of the best pancakes I have ever tasted! A huge thick soft pancake with syrup! Was gorgeous! The only downside is the hotel is quite isolated so there isn’t much around it apart from 2 restaurants which can be quite pricey, but this isn’t a negative of the hotel

Bad Security - Risk of Theft

The hotel was lovely. However, my laptop was stolen out of the room, even though it was out of sight. Since they are all separate units, it is easy for people to see if you are in your room or not since cars are parked outside of the rooms. Also, there is no good security. Brian at the front desk was helpful, as was the police, but the owner of the hotel treated us as a problem that wouldn't go away when we tried to figure out what happened. The groundskeeper said the window had been broken for 2 years. If you have no valuables this is a nice place to stay but beware of leaving anything in the room. A rainjacket was also stolen.

I do not recommend it at all if you wanna have a good surfing experience

Reviewed By Coriilu

Had a terrible experience! It’s really unorganized but if you wanna party and don’t care about anything this might suits you but if you wanna go for the surfing it’s definitely the wrong place. As a surf camp to have one surf coach seems a bit like a joke and it definitely was. I’m an intermediate surfer and thought I could improve a bit here. In my first week I didn’t even get surf lessons at all because there were lots of beginners and the coach didn’t have time to teach an intermediate!! I felt sorry for the coach tho because he had to teach classes of like 7 people. He did a good job but it’s just not how it should be. They surf everday in Tamarindo no matter if the waves are good or not. They do excursions to Playa Grande and Avellana but you need to pay 10 bucks extra for the shuttle and also they don’t care if there are good waves or not. The food was ok but usually not enough, plates were dirty and it’s basically rice and beans everyday. The Camp is full of Volunteers so it’s more of a teenie camp. It says they offer a 6 am surf daily. In two weeks there it happened once!!! And one time we were supposed to do it but the surf coach did not show up because he was hangover. I only stayed the two weeks because I already paid for it. I do not recommend it at all! Even if you are short on budget I’m sure you can find a better place than this.

Vista Drake Lodge

Not worth the money

Reviewed By Amkl12345

We stayed 4 nights as a family of 4 at vista drake lodge. In General this is a beautiful property higher up ( not at beach level). The reason why we only give it one star is that it’s too expensive for what is offered. We have no problem staying in low budget places but if they charge a lot of money and indicate services which are not available than it’s a problem. The shower was cold and not working properly. Once as there was no water in the whole village which is nothing they can change but then it has not worked again even if we had water in the village. The ac was broken on the first day ( they fixed it after we asked about it twice). The safe was broken and the glass entrance doors did not close fully allowing large gaps for mosquitos and crawlers to come in ( we where provided duckt tape to fix the gaps). Our booking indicated daily room service but we never had anybody come in the room to clean ( which is important in the tropics if you eat in the room) or offer new towels. We did receive new towels after asking at the third day. All in all it’s just not worth the price we paid. We met many travellers staying under 100$ for AC rooms with breakfast and view and we have paid double that price without breakfast for a room with little amenities.
