Reviewed By 84kalaniaI was there for one night as I was traveling to Sri Lanka and had to quarantine. Staff was extremely friendly. Service was wonderful. The place itself was calm and soothing and beautiful. Amal was one of the staff members I was in touch with before I land in Sri Lanka and he helped me a lot planning my stay. It was my first time going to Karunakarala resort and I wasn't sure what to expect. I was happy that I made the right choice selecting my stay. Yuka was one of the other staff members and she was very helpful and always had a smile on her face. They gave me one of the cottage and it was really nice. Big enough and nicely cleaned. Overall I was happy with their services and my stay there.

Reviewed By HugoNathanColinAlWe had the luck to stay in this tiny but lovely place by the beginning of May 2022. There are only 3 rooms, and let me say, this place is AMAZING, same with service . The room (cabana or tree house) we had (for 4 people) is spacious, very clean, and very well maintained. Thumb up for the welcome drink and for the extra service they provided us! E.g. driver for the 5 days trip. Compared to all other places we have been, this was the best one!

Reviewed By MrsLML2022Good : Beautiful hotel. Very well designed - the rooms, facilities, pool and dining areas are in great locations. The whole complex is clean and very well maintained. Our food was mostly very good. The staff are wonderful and can’t do enough for you. The hotel is up a very steep hill so you do need a driver to take you anywhere. Not so good : They need a good welcome introduction to introduce themselves and give details about the hotel. We were very disappointed to have staff go through our bin and then charge us for wine that we had bought. The hotel does not have a liquor license so cannot offer a alcohol menu. On our first night, we asked for some wine and were charged around £17 per bottle. The following day, we took our own and the staff went through our bins and charged us for what we had bought. We didn’t feel this was acceptable at all. Overall, it is a very good hotel. If they can offer a welcome introduction and also change their alcohol situation then it would be much better.

Reviewed By Adnan Kif you looking for a walk about , its not the hotel for you. staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. breakfast buffet was a decent spread. Not much to do in the area around the hotel , we hired a driver and car for travelling around Kandy.

A good overnight stop
Reviewed By Kevin SA very nice small guest house, seemed 7 rooms in total. We had a mountain view room, good size, tv we didn't try, spotlessly clean with a nice sitting area on the landing shared between a few rooms. Breakfast was Sri Lankan, egg choice, lots of roti bread to taste using dhal or savoury fillings. tea, coffee. Very evident Covid compliance with washing hands to enter the house and sanitiser spray on entry. Just a ten minute walk into the town for Victoria Park or dinner etc.

Great value for money
Reviewed By Sandya-and-ErikTucked in a back lane near Race Course, hence not easy to find after dark, but a great find! We had 2 nice spacious single rooms, good bathrooms, and nice set breakfast (one Western one Lankan). And despite the April season the prices were still very reasonable. (Yes lots of noise from the festival near the race course, but we knew that and cannot blame the property for this one-week-a-year event). Recommended!

Quiet, peaceful, inexpensive elegance
Reviewed By 983benbEmail: [email protected] Peaceful, serene, cool breezes, wind chimes, and quiet elegance are just a few of the words to describe the ambience of this small hotel near Dambulla, Sri Lanka. Close to Sigiriya Rock, the cave temples and more cultural sites, this oasis of tranquility offers much more than the budget price would suggest. You wouldn’t expect fresh vegetables, curries, and meat cooked to your specifications. You wouldn’t expect a variety of animals, birds, and flowers to engage your senses. And you wouldn’t expect the level of attentive, but not intrusive, service the staff provides. When you sit on the soft sofas with plenty of pillows, you hear the birds (no crows) the occasional rustle of vervet (black faced) monkeys in the trees and experience the light scent of incense. The rooms are amazingly modern for being this remote. Complete with A/C, plenty of hot water, and a huge, comfortable bed, you will sleep and rest well. In the cooler months a fan is mounted in the ceiling for quiet air movement. Even in the rainy season, The Green Edge would be a place that you could come and relax to the gentle sounds of the forest while sitting on the huge porch. The property is small - only 3 large rooms - and the number of staff exceeds the possible guest numbers. WiFi is surprisingly fast for being so remote and you could easily make this a place to complete a work project in solitude or celebrate a long-anticipated event. Quite honestly, it’s not the place for a family or for rowdy parties. There are hotels for those types of guests, but this one caters to adult couples and singles. While we were there, we met a young couple and a single woman who were traveling. Both extended their stay at The Green Edge for obvious reasons. You can rent a scooter or a bike to roam about on your own. In case you get lost, help is just a phone call away and they will come and retrieve you. The staff are warm, hospitable, accommodating, and honest. I would strongly encourage you to enjoy the experience we did. NOTE: I produced this short, amateur video for them during my stay to attract more customers. I did so with some reservations as I fear the next time I ask to stay here the secret of this hotel will cause them to be sold out. For their sake, I hope so.

Reviewed By Ksawww651The owners were very friendly, and let us use their wifi as the signal wasn't very strong from our room. Blankets were provided as it can get chilly at night time. The bathroom was clean and there were some books to choose from if you wanted. Only a 15 minute walk into the main town which was very handy, with lots of restaurants and bars.

The room was dimly lit & had uneven flooring, I damaged my ankle due to this. The bedding did not smell freshly laundered, there was dirt under the beds, there were broken electric sockets & ceiling lights & the furniture was broken & extremely dated. The bathroom door did not close, sometimes the toilet didn’t flush. By the time we arrived it was too late to cancel, so we had to “grin & bare it” & fortunately, we only went back there to sleep!! My friend & I were charged US$30 each for breakfast which comprised of a few pieces of fruit, toast & an undercooked omelette. If I could have awarded 0 stars I would have. I’ve stayed at better hostels than this for a lot less money. Avoid, avoid, avoid!! This place is not as advertised!!
