A relaxing spot. Saramago lived the last part of his life in Lanzarote and his modest but beautiful house gives you a good introduction and sense of the man and his works. Allow a good hour.

Just came back from a morning sail on the catamaran. At first, I was a bit sceptical as I can't swim and hate water!! So why do this? I thoroughly enjoyed it. The experience is a once in a lifetime. We ate lovely food, plenty of drinks and the guys, Karl, Alejandro, Francis and Roberto were exceptional . I even went jet skiing with Alejandro which I never thought I'd do! So basically, if you are thinking of taking a trip, Do It!!! You will not regret it. But please, don't blame the weather in the guys, they can make your trip breathtaking, but they can't help the weather!!!

Puerto Calero Marina

Since first opening almost 25 years ago the Marina has expanded and can now hold over 450 boats and is able to house 60 meter super yachts, we regally receive V.I.P visitors to the marina in some breathtaking yachts that constantly stop visitors in their paths to take photos. Puerto Calero Marina has an array of top quality Cafes, Bars and Restaurants that run along the waters edge that cater for all tastes and nationalities so don't forget to allow extra time after your trip to sample some of the local Tapas, or simply check out some of the menus so you can plan a return visit during your holiday. If you fancy flexing the credit card then there are also many designer shops to peruse here too.

Nice little harbour with a handful of bars/restaurants and some shops. The small supermarket sells holiday basics. Great to have clean (free) public toilets. Rather a climb up to the Promenade - either steep slops or several flights of steps. However, the car park is at sea level.

Volcan El Cuervo

Reviewed By Phil25 - UK

Having failed in our quest to visit the "main" volcano attraction on the island (due to the pesky strike) we found this alternative which more than made up for it by being a lot less touristy and FREE!
From the free car-park on the LZ-56 the path winds it's way towards the volcano (via a series of information boards), then take the right fork and it takes you right inside!
Then come back out, turn left and you can walk all the way around (via more boards), back to the fork.
The walk is easy and mainly flat, takes anything from 30 minutes to a couple of hours depending on how long you want look and take photos for. No shade and pretty hot so remember to take some water.
We learnt that this was the first volcano to erupt on the island in the 1730s...also that Raven's Volcano is a translation from the local "Volcan El Cuervo" (there is actually another TA listing in this name - anyone know how to combine them?)
Definitely a higher recommended visit!

It's a shame as they came across so well. We were sold a course based on our experience and all seemed well. Then we embarked. It soon became clear that the instructor could not manage the needs of novices with more advanced crew. The pompous RYA stereo type managed to upset all of us. What's more he tried to justify his position to the booking office/managment.
When the managment were given the option to comment it was just so defensive it is not worthy of ANY further comment.
Customer service should never be overlooked. We tried all to be reasonable and got nothing back. Worst still defensive and did not address the issue raised.
We have since gone on and passed higher qualifications with another RYA school.
Pass this SCHOOL unless you are sure your instructor is up to the job and the school will support what they sold.
They even had the cheek to insult many great sailors we have had the pleasure of doing many miles with.
Wait for the reply on this AND NOTE they were given opportunity.
It is a shame.

This walk is fairly easy and after the initial climb flatish. Lovely views all the way, I eould advise wearing trainers and expect to get dusty legs and feet. Great views of the sea and the volcanic background. You can either walk back or take a water taxi which run regularly.

I went to dive in this dive center with some friends, and it was the first time for me.
We received a course with some important basic lesson that permit you to understand what you have to do with the provided equipment.
Then we went to practice a little bit in a closed pool; the instructor is really nice and good in his job, he makes sure you are doing the right way and he gives you suggestions and techniques.
Then we finally went down into the sea, It has been the best experience of my life and we saw a lot of nice fishes and coloured starfish!!
Thank you Sylwester!!

Just came back off this excursion, and it was a once in a life time experience (unlss you can dive), great sights and friendly staff. Price wise, it could have been cheaper but we didnt know about the online discount.
Like others have said the fact that they stopped having diver's go down to feed the fish did have some impact on the experience however it was still spectacular and hopefully they can get this returned.

Playa Chica

Reviewed By Dave B - Leeds

I should really give this beach 1 star, but I would only be doing this to deter others so that this could be kept more as a secret........but that would be very mean of me!
This beach is a little gem; There is shelter from surrounding walls, there are toilets, and a footshower to rinse under when you come out of the water, or get the sand of your feet. The toilets could do with some maintenance as they have seen better days, but they do the job.
The sand is perfect.
The water is shallow for quite a distance out, and you are protected by the rock arms which create a little haven of a natural harbour. The marine life is fantastic; I recommend that you get a cheap loaf of "Bimbo" bread and go waist deep into the water......the water will often boil with fish when you throw a few slices near you.
This is the perfect place to snorkel, and you can hire mask and flippers from the diving shop nearby.
There is also a shop next to it where you can buy a Magnum and a coffe!
We love it - we spend most of the day on this beach, just unwinding letting go!
You should give it a try - you will see what I mean.
