Placed our order, speciality bread, then shrimp cocktails that did not arrive. Then main meal arrived, fajitas which were excellent. Glad she forgot the shrimp as I could not of eaten all off it. Good cocktails, would recommend

Had the pleasure of finding out about this little treasure of a restaurant in Varadero. We ate at this restaurant twice; first time I enjoyed lobster and shrimp and the second visit I had the prime rib. This was the best steak I have ever eaten. My husband had the steak both times and raved about the quality. The owners are attentive, and know how to cook food. The restaurant is inside a cave so that in itself is pretty amazing. The first night we sat at an outside table and the second visit we were inside. Worth doing both. If you are visiting Varadero, do not miss this restaurant!

Absolutely fabulous restaurant. The food was really tasty and presented artistically pleasing both my eyes and my tastebuds. The restaurant was super clean including the bathrooms. Staff was friendly and very on the ball drink glasses barely emptied before a refill is offered.

We ate in Salsa Suarez four times during our stay in Varadero. Awesome food! If you go there at daytime, you don't usually need reservation but if you go there at evening, reservation is recommendable. We visited Xanadu for the architecture - designed as a house by the Cuban architects Govantes and Cabarrocas in a modern interpretation of mujedar style, as evidenced in the joinery and the roofing designs. (The same architects designed the Capitol Building in Havana).
Now a restaurant and bar, we enjoyed cocktails on the top floor bar, with its stunning views out to the blue ocean and along the sandy beach, to the accompaniment of saxophone/jazz,

Wound up here by accident.. heading for Waco but it was unexpectedly closed, so our cab driver brought us here. Perhaps we'd have had a better experience if we'd had Reservations, but we didn't and wound up on the patio, pretty much looking at the street and Las Palmas, and it was quite muggy out. So... can't say they got any points for atmosphere!
The food was fine, if a bit pricey for Cuba. You pay extra for the atmosphere, which we didn't have, nor did we have very good service. They were setting up for a very large party next to us, and it seemed like the staff was more concerned with shuffling chairs than seeing that we were attended to.
Beware of the water! It's more expensive than beer or wine or pretty much anything else.. no Ciego Montero here! I really don't need overpriced imported water when I'm just thirsty.
This is a very cute place.. inside. If you make Reservations, don't accept the patio.. but do bring a sweater.. the AC is VERY effective. I'm not sure if I would go back. I suspect we may have just had a bad experience due to being stuck on the patio and the large group. I DID enjoy my shrimp.. the spiny lobster was too expensive.

In the beginning we got a little intimidated by what we thought was overpricing in the menu. We ordered each a meal and when it arrived it was humongous that 2 people can really share a meal! Their whole fish, supposedly whole tiny fish (pescadito), came not only as a big fish, but 2 big fishes in a huge plate! Their serving of arroz morro was also amazing. I ordered the grilled chicken and half of an entire chicken landed on my plate. It was abundant, you almost dont feel there's scarcity in supplies and ingredients in Cuba.The service is topnotch. everything they do and the way the service people were was just nice. I dropped my napkin cloth ont he ground and i was really fine using it again, but he saw it and immediately change it to a new one. They checked on us within reason, and at the end of it even gave me a stalk of flowers! How nice is that??? Amazing date night in Varadero. You can even see the sea fromt he veranda upstairs. :) <3 Enjoy!
