Hooves is a family owned attraction in operation for over 20 years, committed to offering our guests a unique experience on horseback. Members of our staff have been with us for more than fourteen years, and are very experienced, and able to give you the best of care. Many of our horses are rescued and brought back to good health, happy to take you into the sea. We are located in St Ann's Bay on the north coast of Jamaica near to Ocho Rios hotels and cruise ship pier. Guests also come on special tours from the cruise shop pier in Falmouth which provides an opportunity to see other attractions au route. Located on a World Heritage Site and sanctioned by The Jamaica National Heritage Trust and the Jamaica Tourist Board we are humbled by the task we have to provide our guests with accurate information on well trained horses with modern equipment for a safe and wonderful experience. Hooves has many return guests, some who have come on our Honeymoon ride, returning years later with their children. Often we have guests asking for particular horses and guides and when asked if they had been with us before, they reply "Oh a friend recommended you" Trip Advisor has been a wonderful help to us with the many kind comments made, so please remember to add to those. Based on the TripAdvisor reviews I really wanted to do Hooves. Since they don’t pickup at the Falmouth cruise terminal I booked our private excursion with Yardie (reviewed separately)....which was great. It was myself (female) and two boys (9 and 12). Everyone at Hooves was very nice and helpful. They focused primarily on my kids to ensure they had a great time. The horses seemed very healthy and I felt safe with the location, the horses and the staff. I wish the ride was longer by 1/2 hour but it was still a highlight of our trip. I didn’t know I could bring towels and backpacks, so I didn’t. Big mistake. The group before us did and it was not a problem. I highly recommend this and if it’s possible to do an extended trail ride I would ask for it. When we return to Jamaica we will definitely stop at Hooves again.

My spouse and I went to Stush in the Bush the Tuesday after our wedding at a resort in Trelawny. I will preface this review by saying that while my spouse is heavily invested in sustainability, he is staunchly anti-frou-frou and hesitant regarding the culture around veganism. In contrast to his utilitarian mindset, I enjoy the poetry of all things (including landscape and food). So, while I found joy in both the stush and the bush, my spouse was more invested in the bush than the stush (but as his partner, one of my responsibilities is to expose him to things that he would ignore).
Stush in the Bush is a beautiful contrast to the resort culture along the coast in both landscape and weather (it is significantly cooler, making it very comfortable), and Chris and Lisa are both wonderful hosts to this beautiful experience.
We had a wonderful driver (Mario) who took us from our resort to the road to Stush and roamed with us while we waited for Chris to pick us up. While we waited for our other co-diners to arrive, Chris drove us to experience some beautiful landscape in St. Ann’s, filling the ride with a rich history that both the Utilitarian and the Poet loved. After picking up our fellow diners, we made our way to the house, where we were greeted by Lisa and other members of their staff. The passion fruit punch and starters (absolutely loved the plantain ceviche) were delightful.
After starters, we were taken on a walk-about through the farm with Chris and Stout. It was mesmerizing and a wonderful hands-on experience. After our walk-about and picking some herbs and learning about some of the agriculture of Jamaica, we returned for dinner.
The dinner was lovely, but is an experience to which you have to open yourself (and Lisa is wonderful about inviting you to be open to it). The bounty of the land and Lisa will determine your menu for the day/evening (I've learned that in Jamaica, it is best to give yourself over to the island). We had the full experience, and each dish is incredibly fresh and beautifully plated, as one would expect during a fine dining experience. My favorites were the beet carpaccio and beignets, but I enjoyed the food overall (I could go on, but I will stop here).
I recommend it for those who want to enjoy a down-to-earth fine dining experience in a beautiful setting.

The tour was bad from the very beginning when the driver started to emphasize if me and my group wanted to smoke Marijuana, which bothered me a lot. After 1h 30min drive from Ocho Rios through a path with nice view (which gets boring after 30 mins of watching the same) we reached the house. At the entrance again, people offering you Marijuana, inside there are refreshments, snacks and souvenirs. Pay the entrance US25 (which I consider expensive) and also a sign "Smoking Marijuana is at your own risk". Waited for the "tour guide" Mr. Crazy who took us inside the house and "guided" us... DISASTER!!! He spent the time smoking weed, making unpleasant jokes and not telling anything interesting about Bob or the house (he basically told us he's been fired seven times). The guys in there offer you Marijuana in all its presentations: brownie, cake, weed, joint, tea, not very comfortable with this.
RECOMMENDATIONS: If you want to go and visit, make sure you know everything about the house because the people there won't give you any interesting facts, you'd better do your own interpretation of the house. DISAPPOINTED.

Your trip begins from the moment you arrive into the Port of Ocho Rios or Falmouth; you will be picked up by our well informed driver for a spectacular ride up to H’Evans Scent . On route the Caribbean Sea is so close you feel that you could touch it. And so you begin a leisure drive up hill. The drive takes you through sleepy villages past kids going to school to locals doing their washing H’Evans Scent is located 2000ft up with a view across the green fields of St Ann, our garden parish.Upon arrival at H’Evans Scent Bamboo gates you will be met by our friendly staff who will give you your first real taste of Jamaica, a natural fruit drink made from fruits that are in season, served in a calabash cup. H’Evans Scent was the first to introduce Zip Lines to the Island of Jamaica and they have stayed ahead of the competition by installing rides which are different to what others are offering. Each ride is a different experience, and once you have been harnessed your safety instructions comes next then it is onto the first Zip Line.

Wife and I took a cruise with MSC Divina in October. One of the stops was Ocho Rios. We chose for this excursion to book privately. At first we were a little skeptical since we thought we were going with the ship on the same excursion only we paid less. Any fear was immediately put to rest once we got off the ship and there is a whole private excursion tent at the end of the pier. We met our driver who told us we would be changing cars after we got out of Port. On the side of the road was our driver for rest of the day. He took us up the mountain on a very scenic drive to H'evans Scent. They are on top of the mountain with spectacular views of the valley and ocean in the distance. Upon our arrival we found we were the only ones there. We got personalized attention our entire time there. We were greeted with fresh coconuts cut to drink from while we got our lessons and fitted for harnesses. The area has five zip lines 500 feet in length or more. We are shown how to do it on the first one then we are off. The first one is off a platform 35 feet high. You squat and take the leap of faith. The ride is exhilarating. The second is a run and jump off a cliff (not that high but a cliff all the same). The third is a giant swing called "The Screamer" and you will scream. The fourth is the hardest one as you climb a telephone pole 45 feet high (you are on belay but it is still scary) but the reward of the zip is worth it. Last one is the zip back. The staff helps you all the way and there is no pressure if you choose to not do one. The whole excursion is about 90 mins and worth the time. Every one is awesome and treat you like a guest. The ride back is just as scenic and you have time to shop and have a great Jamaican meal before getting back to the ship. When in Jamaica I highly recommend H'evans Scent.

If you are going to use a tour company in Jamaica, I highly recommend Jamaica Island Adventure Tours. Kimoni is a great tour guide. He even participated in the zip lines with us at H'evan's Scent! (an adventure not to be missed by the way). He was very helpful in helping us find bargains when we shopped and took us to a great place to eat that served authentic Jamaican Jerk chicken and pork. When I return to Jamaica, I will definitely look Kimoni up again!

A Unesco World Heritage sight. Post 1655 British sugar plantation. Dubbed the birthplace of modern Jamaica, this property was where Christopher Columbus first encountered the Taino Indians in 1494. The Great House is now a museum which offers an informative tour of the period 650AD to late 19 th century Jamaica when the Taino Induans,Spanish,English and African inhabited the area. Very interesting.

I've been to Nine Miles four times over the years and always enjoy the experience. The trip to Nine Miles is interesting with lots of curvy narrow roads passing through busy villages along the way. Once at the museum you purchase your tickets and wait for a guide to lead you through the compound. There's a gift shop and a bar to enjoy a beer while waiting. The guides are always entertaining (We had Benjamin this time) and are both funny and solemn (since it is the final resting place of Bob Marley, his brother, and his mother. There is smoking going on, but it's not a problem since most people are respectful of everyone on the tour -- so don't be afraid to bring younger kids or worry that it's some kind of giant party. There are lots of stairs and steep pathways...so accessibility for some is an issue. Over the years (first time was 13 years ago) it seems to have turned a little more "touristy" with the guide selling hot sauce this trip...Tipping your guide is expected as well as the group of musicians along the tour. Educational, entertaining, and inspiring!

I give the church an average rating because our tour guide took us there but didn't know anything about the church, its history, which religion practiced here, or significance of the church. Also, my hubby and I have visited a multitude of churches in South America and Europe so this church seems to pale in comparison.
This small Roman Catholoic Church is architecturally pleasing with front facade covered in ivy and open doors on one side. While we were there a young lady was playing the organ. She was so focused on her playing I couldn't bring myself to stop her and ask her any questions.

First please don't ask me how we got there although I was driving, I was directed. A bit scary as it's up a narrow unpaved road off the main A1 route - the government has overlooked this road/spot. After reaching the top, we were greeted by happy playful children, we was guided to the hidden spot behind a painted wooden wall I think we paid $15 for 2 of us to sit in the water, the guy explained the historical background of the site, and lit the water and asked if I wanted a massage, I didn't I just wanted to experience the lovely blazing water, we spent about 20 mins. Felt very relaxed and spiritual. Beautiful place. I wish more could be done to the area the local people that live there as taken over the spot, and doing the best to entertain you when you, but this place could attract more if it was advertised. So I hope my word of mouth will encourage you and others to go you won't be disappointed.
