My 3 children snorkelled first with Balkysub, they then under took the Open Water PADI course.
The Balkysub team were very friendly, supportive and positive, The training was professional and focused on safety.
This review was almost a 5 star, only the process of confirming the PADI e-learning being an issue. There seemed to be many small, but frustrating problems with the e-learning, first with the log-in's, then secondly having to take screen shots of the complete e-learning and emailing (they apparently got stuck in the spam filters). Re-sitting one exam was also a little hap-hazard and not supported very well.
The reception worked hard to accommodate us with follow up dives. When issues were raised the reactions was good with many of the staff with good English.
Will definitely be back to explore the underwater nature reserve with Balkysub!

Fabulous beach in a National Park with an unfamiliar landscape, the photos don't do it justice. It has no facilities and you have to catch a bus to get there unless you drive before 09.00 in the morning, so you need to take everything you need with you. Kids love it as the slope of the beach is very shallow.

Great Restaurant with meals at very competitive prices. One can also have a round of mini golf.
Plenty of car parking, situated just outside Los Alcázares on the RM-F30 just before the Mar Menor Golf Resort.
Very friendly staff, great food, quick service. Give them a try.

I spent an afternoon here with two adults and eight children. It is a good place to shop with children as it is clean, tidy and relatively easy to keep an eye on the kids. Nice shops, friendly staff and good places to eat and drink when required. As it is outside and not enclosed in a buliding it isabit like walking in a small town.

This sanctuary is a short drive away from our villa in Calasparra. Our trip is not complete without a visit to the sanctuary. The restaurant attached to it serves the best paella that we have tried anywhere else.during the summer season, youncan rent bbq stalls along the river just like what the locals do and if you are brave enough, go for a dip in the river.

I personally was quite disappointed with the lighthouse, but is worth the visit. Nice view of La Manga and from what was explained obviously one of the best places to dive in Spain. The lighthouse itself isn't opened for visitors, so it doesn't look much from outside, but offers good views from the platform outside.

The raised breakwater boardwalk is longer than you think - you spot the statue at the curve and think that’s it - well actually it’s only half distance! Not sure of the length in total but reckon it must be near a mile. The main walkway is made of railway sleeper type logs but not as thick and a narrow paved path is to one side. Be careful if you walk along the planks without footwear as a number of the fixing screws have worked loose and become slightly raised in places. The statue half way is interesting, sculpted by Carmen Fraile (name’s on the plinth!) and alongside is a water Fountain. Walking along you get views over the marina and also the submarine museum moored up at the jetty across wasteland. A boat rental/water ski area is at the end of the marina and no doubt interesting to watch the goings on in summer (it was closed when I was there mid November). Fishermen gather along rocks around the lighthouse and a number of cats hang around the bench area and stairs nearby - looking over the railing I noticed a couple of small huts and food bowls so they’re obviously well fed and looked after - when I sat down one insisted on trying to snooze on my lap! If it’s a hot day you can walk along the bottom road which is in the shade.
A pleasant walk, nice views and good for exercise!

Seems most of Spain gets a little neglected when it's out of season. This beach is lovely, has soft sand, chilled out beach bar hut. However the bins were overflowing, inviting swarms of wasps - everywhere!!
There were no toilets local, with the only one close being a single toilet in a hut on the beach. It was filthy, and that really is putting it politely
The cluster of beach umbrellas may as well have been put on top of one another. Roughly only 5-6ft between them.
However, couldnt complain about parking and we enjoyed a couple of long days here.

As an avid hater of audio tours, I was pleasantly surprised with my visit to the Castle. This is definitely worth a trip to if you have a spare day! The audio guide isn't too much, and alongside older history, there is also more modern fact about the castle, mainly to do with recent earthquakes and the effects on the city/castle. The views from the castle are amazing and there's so much to take in. We went on a very hot day and regretted not taking sun hates and water as its quite open and exposed, however there are vending machines around the complex. The café was nothing too special, but was a welcome reward after a few hours in the sun and on our feet! Overall this place is definitely worth the visit if you've got a interest in Spanish history (which is cooler than I though) and have a love for the views of Spain!!
