Portstewart Strand holds the prestigious Blue Flag award for the management, cleanliness and quality of water and it is also one of the few remaining Beaches in Ireland where cars still have access and permission to drive onto the beach. Vehicle access is free to National Trust members. Parking fee applies to non-members. Walking entry open all year.

A national trust area so entrance fee unless member. Lovely sandy beach that you can drive on to so families with young children need to watch closely for moving traffic (although most drivers are aware of need to drive slowly!). Great for children as gently shelving beach and lifeguards are on duty to ensure safety. Behind beach superb sand dunes that children (and adults) can explore at their leisure. Cafe at entrance so nicely catered for. If visiting for first time this is an impressive start to your exploration of a beautiful part of the world.

Cracking course played just after the Irish Open so it was in top condition. My only niggle were the bunkers. Very narrow and looked out of place if that makes any sense. But still worth a visit. The tee boxes were as good as the greens.

Just back from a great weekend diving in Antrim with Aquaholics. Richard looks after you really well, the boat is fantastic, the lift even more so. We stayed in his dive centre hostel in Ballycastle this is really convenient for the boat, which is just across the road. The Hostel is excellent, 5 star. In fact to call it a hostel is to undersell it. It's all private rooms with great shower facilities. The kitchen is well set up. Although there is a great breakfast place nearby. The beds are comfortable. there is a private back yard for drying gear. There is a comfortable sitting room and free wifi which works well. On to the diving, Richard dropped us on four lovely dive sites, gave good briefs and looked after us all really well. He offers very good value for money. I will be back. That part of the Antrim coast is really beautiful and well worth a visit.

Summer isn't summer without a walk along the prom. Beautiful views across to Donegal on one side and the buzz of the shops on the other. Nicely landscaped on the top prom, though the lower prom could do with new paving, though hopefully this is in the pipeline. The harbour is picturesque and a great vantage point to admire the town. Good lighting and play area. And it's free!

This may be a small branch library, but it is well used by both locals and visitors alike. The staff is helpful and they will help you with information or to find the book you need. The computers are also very useful and popular, but as a library member (free to join) you can use the terminals for free! There are also newspapers and magazines, so if you want to get out, but the weather's not great, or you simply want to catch up with the local, regional or national news, the library is the place to go! A good sized children's section, which hosts regular story telling sessions.A cosy, welcoming library, which hasn't gone all D.I.Y., unlike so many!

Causeway Cycle Adventures

Relaxing and informative guide led electric cycle tours around the Giants Causeway and Causeway Coast. Experience the fantastic seascape and beauty of the area on a quality electric bike.

Reviewed By Blokartfun - Coleraine, United Kingdom

Three of us experienced the joy of cycling on electric bikes through fantastic scenery: lakes, forest, Waterfalls, beautiful Bridges, thatched cottage, local wildlife and farm animals were all encountered on tour. The bikes made progress so easy on the uphills and were safe and simple to operate. - you don't have to be fit ride one. We started at the Lions Gate, through Downhill forest, stopped for coffee at Moorbrook Fishing centre - an excellent choice - and returned to the starting point via Castlerock village and Bishops gate. The bikes meant we could go on paths closed to car traffic and yet cover much more than on foot. Ivan accompanied us on this tour and was a great source of information. We hope to return and sample some of the other routes but I have no hesitation in recommending this tour as a great way to get a different perspective on the Ulster countryside

Mark Steen Taxis

Reviewed By Katy T - McLean, Virginia

We recently spent 6 days in Portstewart. Mark picked us up at the airport. During this drive, we learned where to go and what to do once we had arrived in town. We requested a stop in Ballymoney to visit Joey's Pub and Mark was happy to oblige.
The purpose of our trip was to watch the Northwest 200 motorcycle races. Racing was Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, so we had Wednesday and Friday to sightsee. Mark picked us up from our B&B at a pre-arranged time on Wednesday and we proceeded to drive along the coast. The roads are windy and the scenery is spectacular. That day we visited Ballycastle, walked across the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, took the Bushmill's Distillery tour and finally visited Giant's Causeway, passing by Dunluce castle on the way back to Portstewart. All in all about 6 hours. During the week, not all our trips with Mark were tours. He also picked us up from neighboring towns and brought us back to Portstewart. Finally, on Sunday, he drove us to the airport.
Mark spent 11 years managing golf courses and is very knowledgeable with respect to all the courses in the vicinity (and there are a lot!) He is also an avid motorcyclist and could suggest beautiful roads to ride along. I believe he has lived in the Portstewart area for most of his life, so he can recommend various restaurants, stores and the like. Every place he recommended to us was as advertised.
Mark's car is very comfortable and is spotless (a late model, maybe even 2016, bmw sedan - I don't know much about cars so I can't identify the model). He is a very personable and entertaining conversationalist. The time passes very quickly in his company.
