Our family has been adding sections of the KVR to our cycling experience each time we come to the eastern side of BC. This is by far our favorite section yet! We biked from the Penticton Visitors' Centre (very helpful stop) through town, meeting up with the KVR just across the river in town and cycling up over the bluffs out into the vineyards and orchards. We went as far as Bench 1775 Winery, about 6 miles from the Visitors' Centre. Our kids are 10, 7 and 5 and biking that stretch was work for them as it's a gradual uphill with a few shorter, harder hills. Most of the KVR is no more than 2% grade but even that is work for little legs over a long distance. We had a delicious lunch overlooking the lake out on the patio before returning almost all downhill to Penticton. It took us an hour and a half to cycle out and about 30 minutes to return. Hillside Winery is much closer to the trail and we've heard it's a good choice. We wanted to try Bench 1775's Malbec and they have a stunning patio view. However from the trail it was a little tricky. On the way out we biked to where the KVR trial crosses Sutherland road. We took Sutherland road down to Naramata. Sutherland is very, very steep so we had the kids walk their bikes at the end. Naramata is quite busy with tourists visiting wineries but it was only about 1/2 km ride on the shoulder to the winery. The winery has a very long driveway down to the restaurant so we left our bikes at the top and walked down. On the way back we debated taking Naramata Road to where it meets the trail, about 2 km from Bench 1775, or trekking up that big hill at Sutherland to avoid traffic. We opted for Naramata which was a good choice. While it was a busy road there is a good shoulder and, heading back south, it was a lovely downhill ride. I'm glad we didn't take Naramata Road from where it crosses the trail north though as that would have been a tough uphill along with traffic.
All in all we highly recommend this section of the KVR to families cycling with kids. As they get older we'll go back and hope to make it all the way to Naramata! Other cycling trails we have enjoyed in this area include Myra Canyon, the Othello Tunnels in Hope, and Mission Creek Greenway in Kelowna (not KVR but a great family-friendly trail).

See Ya Later Ranch is a "must-see" when touring OK Falls wineries. It is the favourite winery of our 2 Cairn Terriers, Buzz and Marv, and the favourite winery of the couple who accompanied us this year. We were all warmly welcomed by Joyce, who suggested taking our last wine tasting outside to take in the spectacular vistas from the patio. Come for a tasting, stay for the views and history, leave with amazing wine and memories.

Went to Noble and was greeted with bubbly, then got to see some baby blue birds, learning about different trellis methods, and then tasted some decent wine. was a fantastic experience for my wife, myself and our guests from Vancouver, top shelf! Highly recommend stopping by this small but great winery if you're in the neighbourhood!!!

My girlfriend and I were on vacation through Okanagan wine country. Over six days, we visited sixty wineries. You can follow our various locations with this disclaimer. That’s sixty wineries, not an exaggeration. We ended the trip with 120 bottles acquired.
On a rather isolated hill just south of Okanagan Falls sits a family of smaller wineries all worthy of a visit. The first two on this list is Wild Goose and Stags Hollow, which is a fifteen-second walk from each other, literally next door. Thus, a visit to one equates to visiting both. But be aware that these wineries are like Anna Kendrick, petite and an acquired taste. But I adore that actress, and I walked away with several bottles that day. The actual tasting rooms are small, and in total, both visits won’t take long, but there is also Liquidity and Noble Ridge nearby, and those wineries are amazing, and it would be crazy to go here without visiting them all, so go do that. About the only thing odd about the location is that because they on a hill, they’re basically beside the highway, but you have a winding route to get where you need to go, but it’s still worth it.

I did not see any Teletubbies there. I did not see a slender plastic tag clipped to an employee’s shirt with a name printed on it. And I certainly did not see a little Asian child with a blank expression on his face sitting outside on a mechanical helicopter that shakes when you put quarters in it. This was an art gallery, my friend, and Liquidity was a piece of art.

This is closer to what I expect from a winery.
An extended drive until the worry sets in you’re about to drive into a Wes Craven cliché. Progressive art pieces begging for a photo against a picturesque landscape. An open-concept restaurant where your hands rest inches from a still-water feature. Liquidity is a destination, a place you detour to visit. It’s itself as much a work of art as the pieces hanging on its walls. Yes, Liquidity also boasts an art gallery, connecting back to the paraphrased Unbreakable quote at the beginning of this review. After ogling and sampling, my girlfriend and I settled in for lunch, which obviously involved charcuterie…because that is just what everyone does on vacation apparently. It appears a standard practice—every restaurant in the Okanagan offers their variation. Perhaps there is a battle of charcuteries across the region—if so, this one may have won the trophy. It looked amazing and tasted to match. Even the server commented that he chef had outdone himself. Maybe he saw my camera…
It’s just a damn shame the wine is only so-so. This was one of the few locations where we did not pick up a bottle. We didn't regret the visit, and enjoyed it more than some other wineries where we did buy wine. Liquidity is a destination winery, and of all the others in this area, this one’s a necessity. You may enjoy the wine, but even if you don’t, you’ll relish in everything else.

While everyone enjoys the wine and the view when they come to visit, the most asked question would have to be about our name...On a cool spring morning in 1929, a small crew from Okanagan Falls set off to a deserted mining camp some 16 miles away from home. Their mission: to dismantle an old wooden church and bring it back to Okanagan Falls.The plan called for a controlled blast of four dynamite sticks inside the church in order to "loosen the nails". Odd as it may seem, the explosion spared the wood from damage during dismantling.Save for losing the steeple, the plan succeeded. Now the 103 year old wooden church stands proudly in its second home of Okanagan Falls and is still an operating United Church. In keeping with its rather remarkable history, the church has since withstood the threat of two major floods, including the disastrous burst of the Okanagan Falls Dam in the early 1950's.In naming our VQA wines "Blasted Church" we celebrate the ingenuity of the initiative to move the church and honor those pioneers for their vision.

Blue Mountain is an estate dedicated to producing complex wines, consistent in style and quality from year to year. Located at south end of the valley with 31 hectares of vines planted, the property supplied grapes to other wineries for 21 years before the Mavety family founded the winery in 1991. In addition to Pinot Noir, the 12,000-case yearly production consists of Gamay Noir, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and a méthode traditionnel sparkling wine, all from estate grown grapes.

If you are visiting Liquidity Winery and Bistro, travel further along Allendale to the Blue Mountain Vineyard. Keep the faith, there really is a vineyard at the end of this country drive. You will probably be able to sample one of their famous bubblies, and I doubt you will leave without a bottle or two. They have no restaurant, but take a picnic, and buy a reasonably prices glass of wine outside to the picnic tables. Well worth the drive!

Synchromesh commits many egregious sins, unforgivable ones in our modern viticulture.
It dares to offer a simple corrugated steel winery with nary a flamboyant art piece or wasteful water feature.
It’s tasting lounge is minuscule with no ration given to merchandise or paired picnic-fodder.
It doesn’t offer the particulars all wineries must list. There are no Cabernet Sauvignons, Pinot Noirs, or Syrahs? Even its name is weird—not taken from its address or a simplistic nearby geographical feature. Synchromesh? Am I getting my car serviced?
It can’t even be bothered to hire staff, forcing patrons to listen to the winemaker himself ramble on about how great his Rieslings are. That’s right, Rieslings…white wine. And not only that, but among the ten wines generally offered, six are Rieslings, limiting options to those wishing the standard fair.
My God, I love this place.
As for those Rieslings, I bought four. I thought the reds were offered because the owners felt they needed to. This is a perfect example of a winery knowing something well and throwing everything behind it in order to perfect that one impeccable variatel. It’s an example sadly so few follow, as such dedication usually comes at the expense of selection. I’d rather have that than a traditional winery just offering the staples.
Just because there are six varietals of Riesling does not equate them being identical. Each one caters to a distinct palate, but each is strong in their own regard. I didn’t buy the same bottle twice. As for the name, love it. Talking with the owner directly as he poured samples, I’d have it no other way. The small tasting room, focused and without distraction.
This is a winery that sells what it knows and it knows Riesling. It's not surprising that Synchromesh makes the best. That’s my declaration; they do the best Rieslings in the Okanagan. Do I have a sample size, or am I just being glib? From August 2016 to May 2017, my girlfriend and I visited over 100 BC wineries, so take that what you will. Synchromesh is one not to miss, regardless if you prefer whites or reds. The Rieslings will sway your opinion. If you still dislike it after the visit, then there is no hope—you will always see red.
By the way, the day we arrived, it was over 34 degrees outside, but inside was an ice box. Thank you.

Such a pretty hilly course....it has 9 holes around an impressive lake.
Set south of Penticton, northwest of Okanagan Falls, on White Lake Road...this is a serene setting, surrounded by hillsides and a small housing development.
I went with 4 golfers, and walked the course...which you can no longer do, due to insurance concerns. It was lovely...lots of bird life, including osprey...deer strolling and sampling the vegetation...just a beautiful place. Willows surround the lake and encourage various woodpeckers etc to visit frequently.
My golfers enjoyed the course... although not terribly long..it is well maintained and challenging. It even has an island green. We actually came back for a second round...and very much enjoyed the time.
The club house is welcoming and the food is tasty.
They have some well positioned benches by the lake, to relax post golf and enjoy the views, as well as their outside deck in the club house.
