Our second trip to Etaples to commemorate 100yrs of my husbands great uncle who died of his wounds in the First World War, it's a beautiful cemetery & well maintained. It may not be on many war grave tours but it's well worth a visit.

Opalaventure

It's neither tree climbing, nor trekking! Instead it's the Opalaventure adventure course in Sainte-Cecile. Safely surf or bike from tree to tree across the forest in the heart of the countryside. The adventure park (safely) brings together lovers of extreme sports in the trees of the Nord Pas de Calais region - families and children from the cities of Lille, Amiens, Arras, Abbeville, Saint-Omer and of course the Opal Coast: Sainte-Cecile, Hardelot, Le Touquet and Boulogne-sur-Mer.

A much needed burst of activity & adrenaline for our kids in amongst more cultural stuff.
Great fun, very exhilarating.
Good safety briefing, nad all the gear was well maintained and seemed safe.
A range of courses from baby (sub 5 years old) through children to the final one which will stretch older teens or atheletic adults.
A lot better than Go Ape in UK

The brochure looks great, the reality not so.
Where do I start... how about waiting 45 mins to get a cup of coffee ... or another 45 for a Sandwich.
The inflatables are tired and semi deflated, the ropes course too busy, mini golf.. no balls available and were told to share 1 ball between 2 groups of 4..
Points it does get is for the maize maze

Having read the reviews we decided to visit Etaples especially to visit this museum, perhaps I expected to much, but I found the .museum disappointing.
The displays of the fish were interesting, but most of the information was gathered by Reading text, sometimes in low light levels. I will not be paying a repeat visit

If you've experienced a market in France then prepared to be pleasantly surprised.
A 1st visit in February has me still grinning.
Hidden amongst the typical stuff (socks, shoes, clothes at great prices but not tops in quality) people hawking items, fruits and veggie stands are some amazing craft people selling unique and traditional wares that in itself are worth the visit. The creativity and genuine talent abound and quality is remarkable. Jams, cheeses, sweets prepared traditionally and with pride... paring can be very difficult. Not sure how to manage this in high seasons.
A must do if you want to better understand le Touquet.

We had enjoyed Bibovino in "Old Lille"and so staying a couple of nights in Arras thought we would try the Arras branch,it was great,a very warm welcome from the patrone and a chance to sit outside with a lovely view of the Town Hall & Petit Place. We opted for the cellar lounge which was lovely & relaxing, the wine were superb & good advice was given.Eating out in the evening we only wanted a light lunch so Bibo was perfect a plate of very good cheeses ,salad & bread, obviously being France there was meat option. We couldn't really fault anything, friendly, cosy and lovely wines all from small producers. We went back the next day ,just as good & had a last glass in the sun,not bad for late September!

We went through the pine woods and across the beach here as part of a Segway tour. It is really beautiful, and totally untouched.
In looks it reminds me a lot of the North Norfolk Beaches - golden sand, wide open spaces and stretching for miles.
Absolutely stunning.
