Himi Banyagai

Not alot of tourists come here but I chance upon this place while planning my self drive trip in Central Japan.
We drove here from Toyama Station about 1.5hrs... There are a few blocks of buildings serving different things from fresh seafood market, food court, local specialties, rotating sushi restaurant serving freshly caught HIMI seafood.
After having your fill of seafood, head towards the back of the blocks facing the sea. Cross the road and you will see there is an Observatory Stairway that gives you a panaromic view of the HIMI Bay.
After having a fantastic view of HIMI Bay, we crossed back to the HIMI Fishing port blocks... look out for a swinging bell/bench on the far right... there is a small foot onsen building thats accessible free of charge! just take off your shoes and fold up your pants and join the locals in the soothing onsen dip! It's free!

It's a small but nice gallery, 10 minutes walk from the JR station. Along the road, you won't miss the those ninja statues, temple and the Clock, so it would be a very nice and leisure walk.

If you're into Ninja Hattori manga, you'll enjoy walking the streets in the main part of town and seeing fibreglass characters from the series. The Kozen-ji temple also has a set of stone statues of some of the characters out the front.
Motoo Abiko was born in the temple as his father was the High Priest. Motoo is one of two writers from Toyama who call themselves Fujiko Fujio. Together they are credited with writing both Ninja Hattori and Doraemon. The Ninja Hattori statues were design as a novel way to promote the town of Motoo's birth.
Himi is also famous for its food - The stand outs for me were the beautiful beef, Amberjack (Yellow Tail) fish sushimi and Himi Udon Noodles (I had the fresh noodles in hot broth). So, you can walk around town and take photos of the many statues and stop in one of the restaurants and try the local specialties.
