Mad crazy tides look really scary when you get there but you dive in a sheltered zone behind the rock. There is such an abundance of marine life it's unreal, so many different species and so many of them. Definitely a must to dive when you are here.

I couldn’t believe my eyes, I have a question, why this is not in the 7 natural wonders In the world. This is the most beautiful place in my travel list

Beautiful and clean village on the mountain
This is one of the villages that must be visited if you are to Flores
To reach this village, there are some preparation to be done before traveling such as:
1. Trekking shoes or similar.
2. raincoat.
3. drinking water.
4. cash.
5. sweaters, change of clothes and towels
6. Personal medicines
7. Biscuits to be driven during the trip.
Travel from Labuan Bajo to Wae Rebo
We have to drive a car through the most mountainous mountain road for approximately 7 hours. For a relaxing trip, we recommend departing from Labuan Bajo max 7 am.
During the journey we will see the beauty of the layered mountain. Pass through Denge town the road wiil be quite up and oh yes, its a zig zag road.
For those who like to get drunk, prepare antimo or plastic for preparation if you get thrown up.
Tips on avoiding motion sickness:
1. Breakfast is nessesary, because on the way there is no restaurant or cafe.
2. Avoid drinking tea, coffee, milk and eating butter or diaries
3. Try to eat one or two pieces of biscuits every hour and drink only enough water (not drinking too much water)
4. Open the window and let the fresh air in when you feel sick
After passing the beautiful scenery and arriving at the Wae Rebo information center, can have lunch (@ 35k rupiah) and to the rest room, while preparing for a climbing trip.
Prepare fees for entrance to Wae Rebo village:
1. Stay @ 325k rupiah per person including meals
2. Visits only @ 200k rupiah per person.
3. Porter fee if necessary @ 200k rupiah
4. Ojek costs @ 25k rupiah per once jalandari information center to the post 1
Starting from post 1, we will climb the mountain along the 5km and reached by samtai road within 3 hours through the dirt road and the rock. During the journey we will pass through the forest with very beautiful scenery. Do not run in a hurry if we do not exercise regularly. Do not be forced, rest if necessary. Drink enough. Set your breath during the trip.
Arriving at Wae Rebo you will be pleased with scenery. The pain (if you feel so) are worthed. It is not enought word to say its beauty. we were greeted by the residents and can see the cheerful kids play in the village.
For those who stay later we will sleep together inside the traditional house. The showers and toilets are clean enough and adequate.
We will be greeted with a reception ceremony by the people there.
After nightfall you may see the sky so bright and stars oh tere were millions of stars diamond the sky.
Dinner : dinner with local menu which is vegetable sauce, tofu tempe and chicken curry and closed with local coffee or tea. They are the best .

To swim in a dam of sea water was my first great experience. To hear and to see big waves hit the rock, was second experience after in Belitung island. Small children were running and playing around, and asked to give money, don't worry just say no politely and you can bring some candies to give them. Their happy eyes were sincerely thanking you.

In Google maps it is Pulau Koaba. Thats what is around 40 minutes from Labuan Bajo. You never get to the Kalong island (at Google maps) in 40 minutes from Labuan Bajo.
Bats are coming out quite late. it is almost totally dark. You can not have much pictures at this time anymore so better just to enjoy the show for 15 minutes and record that show in your mind

This review is for those who want to watch sunrise on Mt Kelimutu. I would have rated it excellent if I didn’t have to travel so far just to see this!
The tri-colour lakes were the only reason I travelled the long distance from Battawa to Moni. Luck plays an important part in the enjoyment and appreciation of the beauty here.
For sunrise watchers, the best place to stay the night is in Waturaka Village (10,000rp Ojek from Moni). This is the Village that is closest (1/2 hr by Ojek which is available from the Homestay for 100,000rp) to the start of the trail up Mt Kelimutu. There are many homestays in Waturaka and every one of the homestay charges 150,000rp for the night which included simple local family meals. I stayed at Igen Homestay. Though it didn’t look impressive, the room was very clean and I had my best sleep there.
From the start of the trail, one needs to trek for 20-30 mins to reach the top. It is a gentle ascent and a greater part of the path is paved & dimly lit. Despite this, walking shoes are better than flip-flops.
I left Waturaka at 4.00am and managed to see the colours of sunrise. Frankly, I was lucky because it rained throughout the previous day. That helped to clear the clouds and it wasn’t misty while a group of us were there. The sunrise that day wasn’t stunning but the lakes made it worth the early start and the climb up. While I was there, the con-joined lakes were turquoise & Emerald green and the other dark blue.
It wasn’t very cold up there despite it being early morning on a mountaintop. I had a jacket in my bag which I didn’t need to use.
There are local vendors who sold hot drinks and cup noodles for those who needed sustenance.
Because it was the low season, there weren’t many people up there. Of course there were still some people who hogged photo spots and all that was required to get them to surrender the spot was a gentle request.
For sunrise watchers, you will need to bring a torch as the path is dimly lit. The street lamps acted as a navigational tool for me.
Entry to the park (foreigner) was 230,000rp - higher than the usual 150,000rp to 200,000rp - because 1-12-2017 happened to be a holiday on Flores!
To summarize what is needed:
1) wear shoes
2) bring torch if you are climbing up to watch sunrise as the lighting is dim
3) pack a light jacket if you are afraid of the cold
4) have a camera if you intend to share the memory with friends & family
5) get ready rain gear for the unpredictable weather.
As mentioned before, a great deal still depends on LUCK!
I shall gladly return if I am told that one of the lakes has turned red because of a change in oxygen and mineral contents.

This was one of the stops on a many stop say tour and perhaps it’s unfair against the likes of the views of Padar island or the Komodo dragons at the National Park. It’s a nice beach but nothing that several others in the area don’t have - down to the Pink sand ...

While in Labuan Bajo you can have pizza, pasta or even sushi but then why to come to Indonesia? What I would recommend is to have a grilled fish or other seafood at the local Fish Market. Don't get discouraged by the first impression - plastic chairs and tables herded tight, lots of people or smoke from BBQ. But once you have tried the food, you won't regret. It's simple but as fresh as possible and very tasty. And the price is much lower than for western food.

Great place to visit. The guides and the people are rightfully proud of their island, and their efforts to protect an endangered species. This is a great stop with great people. The tour is always escorted. The basics are simple, SUNTAN LOTION, hat, comfortable closed toe walking shoes, dress for the heat, and carry a bottle of water with you. Stay with your guide, and enjoy the experience. The "gift area" at the end of the tour is a bit intense, but if you slow down a bit, while you are being hit up by every seller on the island, you will realize that the prices are really low and there are a a few interesting things you may want to pick up. The sellers are well behaved, they ask, often, but they do respect a simple no thanks. Remember it's how they make their living.
Definite bucket list, do this one!!!
