Bounce Portugal

BOUNCE is a world where the wall becomes the floor, a slam-dunk is within your grasp and the rules of gravity no longer apply. It's packed with lots of things to do with kids and the family, it takes the rush of getting airborne and adds a bunch of new dimensions – from aerial manoeuvres to slam dunking, wall running and dodgeball warfare. The best part is it doesn’t matter if you’re under 5 or an action sports junkie in training – you’re never too old or too young to have an awesome time. With almost 100 interconnected trampolines housed within huge, colourful spaces at a growing number of locations around Australia, BOUNCE is a spring-loaded urban playground with a wide range of things to do with kids; where hard surfaces are replaced with circus-grade sponge, giant air bags and Springs. The rush of BOUNCE is infectious. Look around and everyone’s buzzing, whether they’re running up The Wall, launching into the Big Bag or loosening up in the Free Jump arena. It can be as easy or as challenging as you like – a training ground for aerial sports acrobatics, a place to kick back and look out over the action, or just a hard-core form of exercise that lets you burn energy without noticing you’re in the middle of a cardio workout. And our friendly staff are always there to offer safety tips and show you a few moves along the way. Check out the session times and book yourself in. JOIN THE FREE-JUMPING REVOLUTION!

National Palace of Queluz

Royal residence of two generations of monarchs, only fifteen minutes away from Lisbon, the National Palace of Queluz is intimately linked with significant figures in Portuguese history. Today it constitutes a major heritage site in Portuguese architecture and landscaping, and contains an important collection which reflects royal taste during the eighteenth and nineteenth century - from Baroque, through Rococo, to Neoclassicism.

Amazing palace modeled on Versailles, and in the process of major restoration and renovation. Interior done with the level of detail you would expect in a palace, with inlaid tile, marble, lead crystal chandeliers, hand worked rugs, some original furniture, paintings and more gold leaf than you can imagine (unless you've been to Versailles). Mini Hall of Mirrors, too. Beautiful Gardens, National treasure with a facinating history.

The building that the Modern Art museum is in, is impressive to walk around. We went on Saturday and there was free admission to the museum. It was not crowded and had some very interesting pieces, including an exhibit on environmental issues from around the world. We are glad that we went there.

We did two full day tours with Jorge and were swept away by the personalized seaside tour ...Jorge was our guide to understanding the Portuguese history, and its affect on their peoples' calm, warm and humane perspective of life.
First the four of us were picked up at our arbnb promptly and in comfort and headed to Nazare, Obidos and Ericeira to enjoy the sites, smells of the Atlantic ocean. We had time to explore on our own as well as were taken to a locals' restaurant to enjoy the best of seafood. Our second tour was of Sintra and Cascais and again was given a geological and biology lesson enroute. Also went to the farthest western point in Portugal at Praia das Macas and Cabo Da Roca. We had time to explore on our own as well as see those most remarkable ports of call by the sea. Great job Jorge!

Mercado de Alges

Reviewed By Alexandra P - Montijo, Portugal

Nowadays you may find in Lisbon (and in its surroundings) some old markets that were transformed into a "market of restaurants".
This is one of them. A large place with tables all around and an immensity of cuisines to choose from. Just have a seat, go to the bar or winery and buy your drinks, than choose a cuisine and go buy your meal and in the end do the same with the dessert, although with the desserts you have the possibility to be served.
You can also go to Mercado de Algés just to have a drink with your friends and appreciate the on going lounge sound or live music that sometimes is presented.
A cider from the bar, a maturated beef with coffee sauce and chips from Bitoqqueria and a coffee with a brigadeiro from the dessert station. This was my chosen meal on my latest visit to Mercado de Algés. The maturated meat was really tasteful, and even medium rare, it was very soft and the coffee sauce just completed the dish nicely.
Don't fool yourself, this won't be a cheap meal. In the end, if you join all the bills, you'll notice that you most likely spend around 20€ per person or more, easily.
Never the less, going to Mercado de Algés is Ideal for a group meal once you have many cuisines to choose from.
Although there's many places to sit, there's also many people but there's always someone leaving and arriving so it won't be a problem to find a sit. You also have 3 sitting areas: just by the restaurants and two esplanades, one of which is closed in the winter.
It is Very difficult to park near the mercado. There is some parking lots around but they are always full. Just look for a chance. If you have the possibility to choose the bus or tram, do so because they are really near by or just combine a ride with your friends and take the less cars possible.
