Monte Cable Car

Reviewed By Penny.M - England

We were staying in Madeira and purposely chose to do the cable car when there were no cruise ships in to avoid the queues. It is a good trip that provides great views over Funchal. It is probably one of the must dos in Madeira. No good if you are afraid of heights but we felt very safe. The cars run continuously and it is all very organised. We felt it was good value for money. You would not need to be on an organised trip to do this. Just walk to the entrance and pay, avoid paying the inflated cruise trip prices. It is a 10-15 minute walk on the flat Promenade from the cruise ship port in Funchal.

Lokoloko - Mountain Bike & Outdoor Tours

Enjoyable mountain bike tours, that starts on the top of the mountain and ends by sea level. A vivid trail ride that may vary between challenging up hills and adrenaline full down hills. With an experienced guide leading the way, we cycle along forest tracks and water filled Levadas. A great opportunity to contemplate Madeira’s rural landscapes.

Superb two days guided mountain biking tours with our guide Sergio.
Everything was spot on, beginning with the great, well-specced & well maintained bikes (150mm Radon Slides, full XT and Reverb dropper posts - they even swapped the brakes over for us awkward Brits & spent time setting up the suspension on each bike), a brilliant guide and the most amazing trails.
From the minute we were picked up from our hotel it felt like we'd known and been riding with these guys for years - genuinely warm, super friendly and a great local's knowledge of all the trails on the island.
Highly recommended, I cannot think of any reason why I wouldn't recommend booking with LokoLoko - do it!

We were staying in Garajau and so visited this beach twice. We enjoyed the cable car ride (only 2.50 euros return and coffee at the café. A stony beach that seemed to be quite popular and I imagine in the summer would be very busy.

Atalaia Diving Center

The Atalaia Diving Center - Madeira The Atalaia Dive Center is situated directly at the Underwater Marine Park and possibly with the best house reef of Madeira, offers diverse and safe diving for beginners as well as for experienced divers. The Dive Center Founded in March 1988 by Joe Klenk, Marco Klenk took over the Dive Center 2016 from his father Joe, who explored the underwater world of Madeira as one of the first divers ever. Together with Sasha Hartmann he now leads the newly renovated Dive Center. The team offers relaxed diving in small groups at the highest level of comfort, individual service and respectable diving education. Of course there’s space for tons of fun too. The Dive Center has a pool for educational training and Discover Scuba Diving sessions as well as direct access to six top divesites right at the doorstep. Atalaia highly values top-certified dive instructors and high-class equipment. The diving with Atalaia Diving Center as certificated CMAS / IAC and PADI Dive Resort is ideal for education from beginner’s level up to Divemaster and also offers experienced divers a great deal. No matter whether it’s the Canyon, Moray's Wall, inside the Cave or the Blue Hole, there’s always something new to discover. Boat dives in the nearby Underwater Marine Park Garajau with the big groupers are as well part of the program. On customer request we individually offer autonomous diving as buddy-team and night dives. The highlight The exclusive highlight is definitely the catamaran day trip to the offshore Underwater Marine Park of the Desertas Islands - including a one-tank dive, fine catering and drinks on board as well as dolphin and whale observations on the way. The name ATALAIA indicates the area where the Dive Center is located. ATALAIA means „The Guard“. You recognize a clear male face in the rock formation of the eastern coastline about 1 kilometer from the Atalaia Diving Center. „The Guard“ watches and protects the offshore area. He embodies the guardian of the sea like Neptune or Poseidon in the mythology. Important: Please don’t forget: logbook, diving certification and medical certification (Diving fitness examination DFE)

Two of us were complete novices and one had quite a bit of diving experience. We were taken to the pool first and given full instruction. Once in the sea we had an instructor each, both of whom were brilliant. Can't be faulted in any way for safety, patience and friendliness. Booked again for another go.

Madeira Wandern mit Christa

Reviewed By MAUL1970

Whilst meandering around the streets, you must visit this wonderful church, even if you are not religious. The sheer splendour of the architecture and the ornate works inside are beautiful.
Do ensure that your flash is turned off as a curtesy to others, also no sound on the cameras too.
