10 Things to do in Bukit Timah That You Shouldn't Miss

October 5, 2021 Florencio Paulino

The Singapore cityscape looks like it was ripped from the pages of a science fiction comic book. If you’re hungry for a true Singapore experience, sample the myriad street foods or take a cultural cooking class. The Botanic Gardens and the Gardens By the Bay offer a slice of horticultural heaven, and the observation deck of the Sands SkyPark makes you feel like you’re high above the clouds. The banks and walkways along the Singapore River bustle with local activity.

Zen Freediving

At Zen Freediving we share our passion for freediving through courses, trips/expeditions, training and events and seek to build a community of freediving enthusiasts in Singapore and around the world. Our approach to teaching freediving is based on relaxation and internal awareness in a safe and fun environment, dispelling the perception of freediving as an "extreme" sport. We teach beginners to advanced students, and cater to each student's individual ability and personal objectives, whether recreational or competitive. In each course, you will delve deeply (pun intended) into the physics, psychology and physiology of freediving. We are the first freediving school in Singapore to offer freediving courses in local waters. The visibility may be limited, but there is local marine life to be discovered in our fair city state by those with the patience to explore! On a course with us, you will visit some hidden marine gems a stone's throw from the city. As freedivers, we believe in taking care of the ocean that brings us so much enjoyment and do our part by promoting sustainability and supporting marine conservation efforts. Earlier this year Chris and Michelle volunteered with Project Manta for the second year in a row, cataloging manta rays off the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. During the second expedition for Project Manta, they brought their students along to support the marine conservation cause. Come explore your zen!

Bynd Artisan hosted a modern calligraphy workshop with Joanne of The Letter J; and it was a most enjoyable experience. Joanne is highly knowledgeable and passionate about her craft, and a great teacher. The workshop was hosted at Bynd Artisan's workshop studio space, which was highly conducive for the activity at hand. I recommend it to anyone - you'll enjoy learning something new!
