Wonderful Dar in Meknes

Reviewed By Migru617

I doubt you can find a better place to stay in Meknes. From the moment we arrive we felt welcomed and taken care of. The owner met us at the door and made mint tea while we checked in. The Dar is beautifully decorated and an architectural gem. We had 2 rooms and each one was very clean and cozy. It is also in a perfect location within the Medina. Everything in Meknes is easy accessible. We only spent one night (unfortunately) and I don't have a single complaint.

Staff very helpful, careful & friendly. Quality rooms very high in relation to its fares: daily cleaned, every kind of comfort, nice & picturesque rooms (real Moroccan style) for your breakfast/dinner. The manager, Mrs.Violeta (Spanish-born, speaking very well Arabic, English, Italian), together with her husband, Mr.Adil are very very kind, attentive and able to arrange any thing you may require, including tours for any destination inside the country. Very interesting food selection for breakfast/dinner (local & very tasty dishes / but European too), you can agree with her the time of meals with a lot of flexibility. The riad is just 5 minutes walking from the Blue Port" and less than 10 minutes by taxi from the railway station. Strongly recommend to feel the authentic Moroccan atmosphere inside the Medina of Fez. Strongly recommended for vacations or business trips.

Dar Saray

Dar Saray is a traditional guest house in the heart of the old Medina. It has been beautifully restored by the owners. It is perfectly located very near one of the main roads of the Medina exactly near Talaa Kabira. What makes this house so special is that so many things were made by the owner who is an artist and also the special panoramic view of the old city from the terrace.

Great value, great location

Great value, great location. The hosts were away but very responsive and their staff was very helpful and friendly. The terrace is nice and cozy - enjoyable not only for breakfast but also for quiet laptop time. The only thing to note about our particular room is that it is right next to the reception where the staff hang out sometimes. But it ended up not being an issue for us, as most of the times we were in our room, nobody was hanging out outside.

What a joke

Reviewed By 370MichaelB

Seriously this hotel was the worst we have stayed in. We were in a tour group so all booked by them. First thing I noticed in the lobby was a sign, no washing of clothes in your room. This was the first time on the tour that we had 2 nights in the same place so all thought a great chances to do some laundry. They did have a service thought that cost us close to $40 Australian. We had 15 items including socks and jocks. Some in the group lost all their socks. The bed linen didn’t fit the bed the duvet was to short and toes froze on the first night, socks to bed second night. Hot water didn’t exist of a night time both nights the same. Wifi didn’t work on our second day. When I went to the desk downstairs I was told it was my phone. I said interesting as my wife’s phone wasn’t working. It didn’t matter room or lobby. No one in the group had wifi so when I came back down later I see the same guy and he is in denial about hot water and wifi. I again fronted him and in front of 12 people he said it was not his problem and walked out. I don’t care how cheap or expensive it was this hotel was terrible. No wifi, no hot water, not being able to wash your clothes in room and a manager who doesn’t accept responsibility of his hotels short falls. I gave it a rating of 1 because I had to give it a score.

Thanks for the unforgettable stay!

Perfect Riad in the Old Medina, close to the Blue Gate but still quiet and fresh. Beautiful typical Riad décor. But everything has been amazing thanks to Mohammed, his staff and Fes magic atmosphere. Mohammed welcomed us in a lovely way, gave us a lot of suggestion and interesting talks about Fes, its history and culture. He deserves a special thanks for helping me in finding my bag with the passport; that I accidently forgot on a petite taxi! Thanks also toThe nightman, always available to serve breakfast anytime we needed, even at 3 am on our departure day. a special thanks. Fes is magic and this Riad Is the perfect choice for an unforgettable stay. Thanks!

It's my third trip to Morroco and to Fez, we did a week trip with 'Morroco Enjoy Travel' who organised the whole journey. The first night after a wonderful day of sightseeing from Tangier, Chefchuan and the amazing city of Fez we arrived at this beautiful Riad, A warm welcome and being treated to a mint tea and after washing off the trail dust we were served a traditional evening meal on the roof terrace overlooking the centre of Fez. A good night's sleep in comfortable rooms with amazing arquitecture made a good impression on us. Thanks for the wonderful hospitality and warmth. We will Definitely return to this Riad
