Amazing and serene stay! Highly recommended

A stay like no other! Being one with nature, tasting amazing foods from a top chef or winding down with a massage, whatever you experience there, is good for the soul! The yoga sessions were also great. We had an amazing session with Saman, who was very experienced and has given us a lot of things on our way to work on. More than anything the amazing staff make the stay even more memorable. We had a wonderful stay we will never forget and took home a lot of learnings and memories. Would recommend to anyone who want to take a jouney inwards and fully want to spoil yourself for a few days!

Tree of Life Nature Resort

Hotel Tree of Life; standing tall in its antique splendor, has a glorious history since its conception in the year 1900. Reaching the 100th mile stone, Tree Of Life, surrounded by 700 acres of tea plantations at Yahalatenna, recalls the glory days of playing home to the British soldiers who owned the surrounding estate area as well as being the perfect hideout for Lord Mount Barren during the dark period of Second World War.

Once nice maybe, but now a dangerous discourteous dump

Reviewed By Longtrvl

Whatever this place once was, it has turned into "Tree of Death". This may be the WORST and most DANGEROUS hotel I've ever stayed in. It started with a rude argumentative "greeting" from Chandu the desk agent, who got in an argument with our driver/guide about luggage and room location (no hotel info ever provided), and then he demanded vaccination data be emailed to him at an address he didn't know, with no wifi available! ... And it went DOWNHILL from there! Our room (see attached photos) was a TOTAL NIGHTMARE. Both electrical wall outlets were hanging unscrewed out of the wall with bare wires showing. And the nonfunctional hair dryer also had exposed wiring. The bath was stained and grimy. To cap it off, the air conditioner leaked a big puddle of water during the night, right under the electric coffee maker. The only positive thing to say about this otherwise horrid hotel was that the restaurant waiter was courteous and the food OK. You've been warned -- DO NOT STAY HERE.

Need A Break?

Reviewed By AKularathna

We all need a break sometimes, don't we? Just to rest, relax and reinvigorate. Where do we go? And, what do we do? Well, if you looking to unwind and forget the world outside, here is the ideal destination With cool climes, refreshing country air and abundant nature all around you, what more could you ask for? The number of activities are aplenty: yoga, Ayurvedic treatments, massages, or go on a challenging hike and end it with a dip in a rejuvenating natural pool of water. Or just don't do anything. Just chill. Reconnect with yourself. The woodfire-cooked food was absolutely flavoursome and the spread of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options was most impressive. The members of staff are friendly, courteous and helpful. Varuna, Yumi and Zenna are delightful hosts and are great meal-time conversationists. We had a great time. So, take my word for it: give it a try. I know we will, again.
