Reviewed By cathyascottReally loved our time here, the staff could not have done more to cater for our fussy childrens food requests (!) and us leaving some belongings behind. They all (housekeeping, reception, kitchen and waiters) went so far above and beyond, they even gave me a birthday cake! Try to get a sea view and if you go snorkelling go early.

I cannot recall going to Hikkaduwa and not staying at this place. from the moment you get out of the vehicle to the moment you leave, you're at home. The staff are attentive and friendly. They're courteous but not invading. They're professional and polite. very special mentions to the restaurant staff like Lalaka and his crew. Rohan, Mr. Bandara, Sanjaya and Jagath are some of my point of contacts. It all shows who much is invested by the management, Mr. Siri Gunawardana and the Executive team to groom and train them.

Reviewed By Mark RWe stayed here for 6 nights and loved everything about Kalla Bongo Lake Resort. The location is just beautiful, rooms clean and comfortable with a great shower; staff are all really lovely and can't do enough to help. Breakfasts are fresh and beautifully presented. We had one evening meal here and it was truly delicious. We were the only ones in the hotel that evening and enjoyed personal service - it was amazing! I also celebrated my birthday here and had a surprise of balloons and a delicious birthday cake in the dining room at breakfast - just so special. We stayed in one of the Lagoon view rooms and it was truly magnificent to wake up to the sounds of wildlife and the stunning views. There is also a lovely pool to cool off in. There are canoes and kayaks for the use of guests at no charge - a great experience. It is very easy to get to the main part of Hikkaduwa - the staff call up a tuktuk which arrives within a few minutes and it is only a 10 min ride to the main road and beach. Highly recommended - it was really hard to leave this beautiful place. Thank you to everyone.

Two gas rings so could cook if required.Large balcony, fan and A/ C and TV although never watched it Breakfast superb. Five types of fresh fruit eggs cooked as you requested, cheese and tomato, toast,jam a finally yoghurt. Pool towels supplied daily Wonderful pool

Drifters is a medium-sized, owner-operated hotel in the heart of the best beach and surfing spot in Hikkaduwa. Drifters offers comfortable, clean rooms built around a garden and swimming pool, with a restaurant opening onto the beach. Service is Drifters' mantra and owner Lalith is always on hand to give personal attention to all guests.

Reviewed By chammerkinFive stars for the class of hotel. We stayed for four nights at Drifters. The hotel is centrally located on beautiful Naragami Beach and has direct access to the beach with some covered lounge beach beds. Our room was poolside and sufficient to our needs. Nothing special and the bed was a little hard but otherwise no issues. It did provide a safe and a lockable cabinet (with your own travel lock). They have universal outlets and WiFi was fine throughout our stay, except that it was hard to make long calls over WiFi as the electricity would periodically switch from the main line to the generator which resets WiFi (this happened every place we stayed). Breakfast is provided but limited - 2 eggs (omelet or fried), fruit or juice, toast and butter/jam, and coffee or tea. It got a little boring by the end of our stay. There are surf schools next to the hotel on the beach - the waves were decent but not enough for surfing every day. I enjoyed it for swimming since it wasn't too rough. There is also a pool, which was excellent. I really enjoyed the pool even if the security guard made sure there was no after 8 pm swimming. There is nightlife nearby. Vibration is a big club that is open on Fridays (recommend!) and Mambo's and Top Secret a few buildings down the street had something going on every night. We tried massages at several places. The best (i.e. deepest) was at Hotel Remember near Drifters. Only caution for those that bruise easy (me!) that you need to ask them to go lightly (unlike me who spent the next 10 days with some stellar bruising). Overall Hikkaduwa is a pretty laid back beach town with a lot of tourists - it is also centrally located for an easy afternoon trip down to Fort Galle or north to the other beaches. It was pretty quiet too, as in I didn't really need ear plugs to sleep. I would stay here again although I wouldn't use their taxi service since it is terribly overpriced. Oh, and contact the hotel directly for a rate. You will get a better one than through any website.

Amazing place to stay
Reviewed By judithsP2444GJAbsolutely wonderful villa. We stayed for three nights in the suite with terrace. The owner is a great guy who was very welcoming and helpful with any requests. He speaks perfect english and german and can also help with arranging tours. The room was big and clean with great facilities including kettle, fridge and hairdryer. Everything is done at really high standard. The room was very quiet, all one can hear is the birds and squirrels. Breakfast was fabulous and the staff were friendly and happy. Another amazing thing about the villa is that wildlife (peacocks, monkeys, mongooses, …) can be watched right from the balcony. The pool is great too and the beach is only 5min away, although for surfing it’s another 15min walk up the beach. While there wasn’t a generator yet (for the frequent powercuts) when we stayed there, the owner has ordered one which should be in place by now.
