Langside

Brilliant!

Reviewed By Marykate27

Had a great stay with Debbie and Jim on Saturday night. Shame it was only the one night, would gladly have stayed longer! Can only echo other reviews……a lovely warm welcome, asked straightaway if we wanted tea/coffee……….which we did. Had a great chat before we went off to meet friends. Rooms are lovely, ours had own entrance and lovely area to sit and enjoy sunshine. Our friends room was in the house, and just as lovely. Everything you need is there for you. Debbie and Jim are so welcoming and friendly, felt as though we’d known them for ever. We all enjoyed hearing aboutJim’s football days, could have sat there all day. Would thoroughly recommend……..you will not be disappointed. Mary

The Stag, wonderful place to stay

Reviewed By karen2064s

My family and I, age range 25 to 85 stayed here for our 4th stay in The Stag. We have been coming to Silverglades for 8 years. Such a lovely place to stay, very comfortable, exceptionally clean, everything you could need provided. Aviemore is just a 10 minute walk away and Dalfaber is lovely for meals, we also played Badminton there too, again just a few minutes walk away. Lovely helpful staff, we were kept fully informed and sent information from the time of booking. Also thankyou for the bottle of Prosecco and shortbread biscuits, tea, coffee and milk, a lovely touch. Will definitely be staying here again ❤

What a little gem!

We booked this B & B as a stop over on our way to northern Scotland and what an amazing decision it turned out to be. Super dog friendly, brilliant off lead walks from the farm itself and so quiet. The room was spotlessly clean and the full Scottish breakfast was fabulous. Endless tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits for you to help yourself to just outside your room and use of a fridge and a microwave should you need them. Jess was so friendly and accomplished we will definitely be back. Anybody needing a stop over to break up your journey or even for a longer stay this place is great.

Simply enchanting!

What could possibly be better than staying in a quaint little hobbit pod on the waters of Lagavulin Bay… Nestled in between 3 distilleries within walking distance… And a view of an ancient castle?! My family and I have stayed in some wonderful places on our travels and our storm pod experience rates right up there as one of the tops! Our pod was comfortable and incredibly peaceful. We saw swans, otters, seals and sailboats on the water outside our windows… Rainbows, a couple of incredible sunsets and sunrises, and, happily, more blue sky and sun than not! You could fill an entire day just exploring the rocks and castle on Lagavulin bay! It was the perfect place to relax after a long day of exploring the enchanted island and experiencing all the busy Feis Ile festivities! Gus was a fabulous and hilarious host and we were delighted to find that he was also our guide on one of the festival boat tours! The Isle of Islay has now nestled itself into our hearts and we hope to return to stay at the storm pods again one day.

What atmosphere......

Reviewed By DonaldA154

Spent 5 nights here. Just such a treat. Surely most visitors are delighted. The staff and volunteers were most friendly and helpful. Few suggestions... Need to get into recycling please. We tried to follow the way-marked route north from the village. (Green posts with yellow striped tops). We got lost for a while as the colours on the posts are well faded. Given the tricky underfoot conditions would be good to repaint the yellow tops at least. Thank you for keeping this part of the Island Heritage alive.

Torrisdale Castle

Our superb range of self-catering properties on Kintyre's east coast provide accommodation for groups of between 2 and 10 people. The estate offers the perfect opportunity to experience the comforts of modern day living whilst relaxing within a stunning and stress-free environment. Breaks are available for a minimum of 3 nights throughout the year.We are also embracing green technology, and have installed a biomass boiler to serve several properties on the estate, and a small hydro scheme which will generate enough electricity for 90 houses. In addition, our innovative tree planting scheme allows you, as our guest, to plant a tree for every holiday taken. Within the ground floor of the castle is a beautifully furnished self-catering apartment and set within the peaceful wooded grounds are a further four superb cottages and houses. The Kintyre Way passes through the estate, which is an ideal base for those looking to complete the long distance walk in individual stretches, being almost halfway on the 87 mile route.Of special interest at Torrisdale is the organic tannery, specialising in natural coloured sheepskins and deer skins using an ancient tanning method to produce a superior skin.

Lovely stay at the South Lodge with visit to Gin Distillery and Cafe

Reviewed By arp975

It was a treat to stay on the estate in the South Lodge. We were close to the lovely grounds and could walk to the Kintyre Gin Distillery and their lovely cafe. The lodge was well-appointed and we were greeted with a wee taste of their delicious gin (a lovely touch by the way). The Lodge came with firewood so we could keep the fire going to ward off the cool, wet weather that comes with that season (we live in the tropics so I'm afraid we used more wood that those from cooler climes would have done). The kitchen was small but perfect for reheating the meals we purchased on our way down and while we were there and all the kitchen bits and pieces we needed were available. While staying there, we took advantage of a gin tasting that we pre-booked and had a wonderful time. Our biggest problem was deciding which gin we liked the best (the two of us didn't agree). And, after the gin tasting, we ate at the delightful cafe which had fresh food, wonderful soups and sandwhiches in a warm and friendly atmosphere. It's clear that this estate is a family affair and the energy and enthusiasm of the family and the staff were wonderful to see and experience. We can't wait to return when next in the area.
