Outstanding dinner

The inn is perfectly located. My husband is Japanese so he checked us in and translated some of the staff’s tour information for me. We spent one night and I regret that we weren’t here longer! It was nice to choose our own yukata and my husband had fun exploring the owner-curated library. We did not have time to use the onsen. The Kaiseki dinner was absolutely delicious and carefully presented. I think 80% of what we ate was grown locally and the dinner included fish, eel, oyster, beef, Japanese vegetables, and more. Wow! The futon and pillows were extremely comfortable and they had a “pillow bar” which we did not use where you could select a pillow of your liking. We didn’t use this feature, but there was also some sort of smartphone in the room that you could use during your stay. I liked the sink area in the bathroom compared to other rooms we’ve stayed in in Japan. I would definitely return to spend more time here!

Housekeeping need improvement with great onsen managed by third party

Stayed in sea view twin room , room are a little old and one of the room had a faint weird smell. The air con filter need to be clean regularly by the housekeeping team . It was choke full with dirt and it had a better airflow once I cleaned it . The onsen is managed by 3rd party with hotel guest get free usage . Expect it to be more busy on certain timing since the usage are higher with local resident using it via pay-per use However there are plenty of different pool size for use hence you won’t feel it crowded most of the time.

Relaxing, enjoyable onsen experience

Reviewed By Vicky L

We were a group of 5 and we had booked a room with a private onsen. The staff were very attentive. Before we even asked, they brought us a wheelchair given we had an elderly travelling with us. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The food was great. Portion is normal Japanese size but maybe a little too small for us (we just love eating too much...). The only thing I would say is the person serving us didn't seem to smile a lot like all the other onsen ryokan we had been to, just something I have noticed but not anything I was unhappy about.

Pleasant ryokan stay

Reviewed By JallyInJapan

Our first time staying at a ryokan, and it was a pleasant stay here. We enjoyed the onsens, wearing yukata, kaiseki (ryokan multi-course dinner) and traditional Japanese breakfast, sleeping on futons, strolling around the hotspring town with its countryside charm... The very same content on Japanese tourism shows! Recommended especially for first timers who may be unsure on which ryokan to choose.

Right on the beach and near the castle

Reviewed By biwakocat

Decent value for a large, spacious room with lanai overlooking the beach and ocean. Perfect for evening walks or a morning jog. Onsen bath is also spacious and relaxing and there is a proper hot sauna room, too. Japanese breakfast is voluminous and the people of Hagi and the staff are friendly countryside folks. Best if you have a car, but if not, just a short taxi ride from the station.
