Reviewed By timsI4467DDWe have stayed here 2 years in a row and cant fault this place. The host Kimio and Kioko are the best hosts anywhere . They have created a special place to come to after skiing . the food is amazing and the local beers go down a treat. I'm in two minds writing this review as i want to keep this place all to ourselves. After skiing in japan for 9 yrs now its great to find such a delightful lodge to stay at away from the maddening crowds . The dinners are amazing ( thank you KIOKO) and Host Kimio is the perfect host. See you next year Kimio /KIOKO and KIMOMO And a big thank you for our Cultural day Thank you from Tim ,Ursula, Ingrid, Graham and PAT

Reviewed By samandadriennarWe stayed at Chalet Christiania for four nights in Feb 2019. The Chalet has a traditional feel, comfortable and warm, up the end of the valley where it’s peaceful. It’s a 50m ski/board from the drying room at the Chalet to the bottom of the Okushigakogen Hotel quad lift! And the Shiga Kogen pass (not much more expensive than Okushigakogen only) allows you to ski between multiple ski fields without walking or bussing at all. The food at Christiania was a highlight of our trip - western with a Japanese twist. Included is a big breakfast with delicious homemade jams, and dinner is a five course meal, every course cleverly thought out and expertly prepared. The food is as great as it looks in the photos! A large variety of local beers and international wines is available for well-priced purchase. The people at Chalet Christiania are friendly, kind and make every effort to make you feel at home. We spoke very little Japanese and a couple of the waitresses spoke great English which was a relief! But any effort to say good morning/thank you in Japanese is greeted with much enthusiasm. Also free, fast WiFi It’s easy to get to the Chalet without a car - the Nagano Snow Shuttle, or by train to Nagano then a ~1hr bus to the Okushigakogen Hotel (2000Y pp) then a 50m walk. There’s a shuttle bus around the valley which you can take for free (during normal ski hours) to other ski fields or onsens. Hint: the hotels, chalets and pensions take credit card, but buses, most lunch locations and vending machines don’t and there is only one ATM within Shiga Kogen. Take some cash!

We locates altitude 1700m, in front of bus stop and ski slope, it is a good location. The rooms are Japanese-style main there, even Western-style. Enjoy a buffet or dishes using seasonal ingredients meals. Relax in the spa large shared hot bath. There fireplace and sofa, free high-speed Internet connection in the lobby. You can enjoy snowboarding and skiing in winter from December to May. Convenient Yamazaki shop open limited in winter. Restaurant 101 offer Noodles and plates for lunch, Syabu-Syabu and sukiyaki for dinner(please book in advance).You can enjoy hiking and summering from spring to autumn. Even in midsummer, you can rest comfortably at night at around 25 ℃. In addition, You can enjoy the alpine garden at an altitude of 2000m.

Reviewed By Z5768PPmarkpWe ate here twice during our stay in Shiga. Each time the food was perfect. We were lucky that we arrived early and got a table. I would probably suggest making a booking. Every night the Prince Hotel buses drop guests nearby for dinner.

It is founded 1964 and it has been for 54 years. Room: 44 Rooms / Capacity: 190 guests. The guests are satisfied with my hotel in all season. Not only new customer but also many repeat guest love us and we provide warm atmosphere. We provide free WiFi in entire area in the hotel and have English speaker’s staff(We will prepare Chinese speaker soon) and rental ski place. We offer public bath and it is available for 24 hours and you can take it even after checked-out. (Noted: Excluded cleaning time. ) Easy Check-in and explanation of hotel and easy ski rental and easy purchase lift ticket. You can prepare all the things in the hotel and you can start skiing without stress. Easy access to everywhere in Shigakogen area. Coin-Laundry. You can stay here for long time!!

Reviewed By Kai LA great place to stay for our ski trip! Less than 100m to the bus stop and ski fields! Also across the road from the best curry restaurant I have ever been to. Not far from a local bar. Extremely helpful and understanding staff. Honestly they went above and beyond. Nice comfy room with good facilities. Nice onsen and yummy breakfast in the mornings.

Reviewed By Dave SStayed for 6 nights. This hotel was probably built late 1980's early 1990's and really hasn't been updated since. this means that it is a bit quirky in its style and features. Our room was a reasonably good size (Western room with toilet but no shower) but our friends room (which was Western/Japanese mixture with ensuite) was a little cramped. The rooms are reasonably clean but the beds were hard. There is a Tapas bar downstairs which serves good food and numerous types of local beer. There are lockers and ski racks on the ground floor to store your kit, but if your skis are mid fats, then they wont fit, as the ski racks are old design and for narrower skis. Breakfast is buffet Western/Japanese style and while nothing sensational , was plentiful and tasty. The hotel is located in Ichinose (Shiga Kogen) which is the best place to stay in Shiga Kogen as it has the most restaurants in the ski area. Not ski in ski out, but a 100 metre walk gets you to the ski slope. There is also a ski/snow board shop on the ground floor for rentals and services , but is not particularly cheap. Overall a modest hotel which is clean, well located and reasonably priced.

Reviewed By musimusi555総評：小学生×2名、大人3名の家族スキー旅行で快適に過ごせました。 典型的なスキー宿です。大食堂での食事。 朝、夕方館内放送で食事の案内が流れます。 自分達を含め、スキーを楽しみに来ている人には、機能的で十分な 宿です。 ワックス掛け用の作業台もちゃんとロッカー室にあります。 がんばってる感じがする宿で好感もてます。 また利用しても良いと思いましたが、夜飯だけなんとかならないかな～。 良い点：部屋は明るくて清潔な和室です。洋服掛けが壁に沢山あり、 窓際のカーテンレールも強靭な金属棒でできていて、物を干すの に困りません。 加湿器も備え付けられています。冷蔵庫はありませんでした。 （スタンダードプランでの利用でしたが、BかC館にアップグレード して頂いてました。この感想はA館の部屋ではないです。） 館内全体的に良く手入れされていて 汚れがちな浴場も清潔です。古い感じも気になりませんでした。 あと、他の人も書いてますが、宿のスタッフが感じ良いです。 忙しそうなフロントの人達も親身に対応してくれます。 （本当は当たりまえだけど、対応わるい宿がスキー場に多いのも事実） 初心者のレンタルスキー手配して頂きましたが、それなりに使用感の ある道具ですが安く借りれました。 人工温泉ですが、広い浴場があり、check out後の使用OK。 控室があり、check out前後に荷物が置けます。 更衣室があるのか？未確認です。私達はcheck out後はお風呂で 着替えて入浴して帰りました。 悪い点：食べ物の話なので、完全に主観ですが、我々家族には、夜ご飯が、 今一つに感じました。 品数は多いので沢山食べる人も、お腹一杯になると思います。 出来るだけ冷凍物避けて宿で作ってくれてる感じもありましたが どれも、味が少しずつずれてる感じでした。特にチゲ鍋の豚肉は 硬くて味が悪かったです。骨付きの鶏の唐揚は美味しかったですが 大人数への提供なので、すこし冷えて固めでした。冷凍エビフライは、 家族全員が少し食べて残してました（なんか油っぽいそうです）。 小学生用も大人と同じ物が出て、一口赤ワインがオレンジジュース に変わるだけでした。味付けに敏感な子供だと、チゲ鍋も唐揚も 辛くて食べられませんでした。白飯は、ちゃんと炊けてます。 メニュー：夜は、白身魚の香味焼き、チゲ鍋、肉じゃが、山掛け(マグロ） 、エビフライと骨付き鶏のから揚げ。レンコンの梅肉和え、そうめん。 野沢菜。リンゴ。 朝ご飯は、よくあるビュッフェスタイルです。みそ汁は美味しかった です。冷凍物のオムレツとか、ミートボール、それほど良くない マスの塩焼きって、悪口みたいに書きますけど、どこの宿もこんな 感じですよね。 むしろ、夜ご飯もこれで良いのになって感じです。朝飯は悪くない です。焼きそば、ベーコン、ソーセージ、オムレツ、フライドポテ ト、ミニアメリカンドッグ、キャベツ千切り、レタス、トマト、 ブロッコリ―。焼売。温泉卵、納豆、オクラ。 パン、白飯、みそ汁。コーヒー、紅茶、パインジュース、牛乳。 りんご。

Reviewed By Destination91613Hotel Mount Shiga was the perfect place to stay for our skiing holiday. The staff are simply superb with the extra touches - my husband and I were driven to view the Snow Monkey Park, have the best Japanese lunch at a nearby Restaurant and a guided tour of the very ancient town of Shibu. Thank you for sharing your fascinating culture with us. The onsen at the Hotel was very warming and relaxing each afternoon after skiing. The Hotel is very clean and the Japanese buffet breakfast has a large array of food to suit every taste. A special thankyou for all the kindness and help that the staff showed us when I had a terrible skiing accident and we had to unfortunately cut our holiday short.

Great Access to Ski Fields- Quiet almost empty Hotel.
Reviewed By HotPeanut65We stayed for five nights at the end of a two week ski tour of Honshu Island. We arrived late afternoon and were met by a staff of two and received no help with our luggage/skis. We were told we were unable to eat in the hotel restaurant that night so had to find our own restaurant. The places recommended by the staff were either booked out or closed. Luckily we found a small take-away type place. We were told if we wanted to eat at the hotel we had to give a days notice. The hotel rooms were dated but very clean. Access to the ski field was easy and close. The shop was pretty much empty and closed most of the time we stayed. The fire in the lounge area was never lit while we stayed as it was "Too dangerous". The continental breakfast was authentic japanese. All staff were polite, and tried to help when asked. When we stayed there were never more than six or so other guests.
