Reviewed By VanessaY650This is our second time to stay at The Larch. Once again, we were NOT disappointed. It's in a fantastic location ... you can access 3 different ski resorts (Furano; Sahoro & Tomamu Ski areas) all within one hour, by car. There are popular cottages to stay in, but we chose the convenience of the hotel - no need to get cold moving around the hotel, that way. The rooms in the hotel are very spacious. We stayed in a triple room with a maisonette style ... the toilet, bathroom; living room with a huge 2 parts sofa are downstairs and the 3 beds (evenly spaced) are upstairs. It's so quiet at night, when the snow or ice slides off the room, it can wake you suddenly ... ha! ha! (Having also stayed in a huge well-known hotel in Furano - the no hustle'n'bustle, just peace and quiet of The Larch is sanely fantastic...) The bathroom and toilet are separate and are both clean and spacious. The closet could be a bit bigger (esp. with bulky ski wear), but there are plenty of hangers. The central heating is not too hot and can be adjusted. The large verandah (although freezing) is great to sit down (at the plastic table and chairs) and just enjoy the view - for a little while - too chilly, for too long. You can do your washing there ... they have 2 washing machines and 2 dryers, above the reception. They're reasonably priced ... The meals are great. They're not exactly huge, but with all the freshest local ingredients. They consist of several courses, beautifully arranged. At brekkie, if you're lucky enough ... you will also get to see the beautiful Jays come in for a feed. The hotel also provide play items: sleds; snowshoes etc., for guests. The only downside ... is that the hotel does offer a hot spring bath centre ... but, it's not within walking distance (in winter). It's about 3-5 mins by car. It's old ... (that's probably why we had it all to ourselves???) and the change areas lacked amenities ... but, the hot bath is great! Unfortunately, they don't have an outside bath, either. Overall it's a fantastic hotel, for our needs. The staff are very friendly & helpful. We will undoubtedly stay again ...

Great place with nice view over the valley
Reviewed By anne vFrom the outside upon arriving we got a bit worried, but the inside is really great and high standard. The room we had was not over spacious as common in this area but but very nice and high quality, the view on the other side mountains over the valley and vulcano /geyser activity was beautifull ( with zoom lens) Staff english was oke, and the friendliness at both reception and restaurant and surprise birthdaycake were great We were the only non japanese guests which made it even a better /special experience

Reviewed By gtp-op75We booked a room for three for an overnight stay. Location and views excellent. As mentioned by others, the ryokan has seen better days. Dinner and breakfast was average. Outdoor onsen offers nice views. The staff were friendly and helpful and were a major plus point. Overall, nice mountain top location with good views but rather pricey for the facilities provided.

Amazing ryokan
Reviewed By christiansJ103MMCame as a group of 4 for 3 nights. Backcountry skiing every day right from the inn. Reasonably comfortable rooms, but the onsen is amazing. The food was delicious and varied each night. Breakfast is a buffet spread with lots of Japanese and western options. Packed lunches were also available to take while skiing.

Wonderful Ryokan Experience
Reviewed By mr-cool1We are a family of 5 adults and stayed in this cozy ryokan as recommended by our tour agency. And we were not disappointed. Beautifully designed and spacious japanese style rooms. Fewer rooms mean using their onsen privately all by ourselves. And best of all, it comes with a delicious 6 course Japanese fusion dinner. A truly wonderful ryokan experience. Highly recommended!

Staff speaks some English so that’s helpful. The room wifi is sometimes weak, can’t have too many devices on at the same time. So still good to have your own portable router.

Great Petit Hotel with fantastic scenary
Reviewed By JasongcleeIt is around 6-8 minutes walk from Nishinaka Station (Furano Line) to the hotel. The room was nice, clean and tidy. Our room was located at ground floor, however, the scenary was fantastic as there is a large field next to the hotel and you can see mountain range in the room (please see the attached pictures). The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, although they are not good at English but had tried their best to help us to order the local tour. As it is difficult to find a good restaurant for dinner in Furano, hence highly recommend the dinner of Genghiskhan set (BBQ style) in the hotel. The Japanese style breakfast was great and delicious too. We love Furano and love this hotel, we will definitely come back soon.

Reviewed By 288vincentk2019This is a very quaint & rustic place. Read online that the couple had built the place themselves and we really appreciated all the little details that were put into it. When we woke up to look at the sunrise we saw the Sea of Clouds. Would recommend booking one of the main cabins and if you are lucky then may also be able to catch the extraordinary view. We also loved the home cooked organic breakfast in the morning.

Will definitely come back when in Furano. The only room for improvement might be Wi-Fi connectivity which is slightly weak. 富良野の農場のど真ん中に位置しており都会の喧騒から逃れての休日には理想的な環境。オーナー夫婦のホスピタリティも丁度イイ距離感を保ってくれてとても居心地がイイ。夕方になると焚いてくれる暖炉にも癒されます。テレビがないのもGOOD。インバウンドが再開し外国人が戻ってきたら談話室スペースもいい情報交換の場になりそう。また来たい旅の宿。 一点改善の余地があるとすれば(大したことではありませんが)Wi-Fiがちょっと弱いことでしょうか。
