Very nice surroundings, awesome people, but very expensive and average food.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for a getaway long weekend. We loved everything except for the food that was way too expensive and some items on the menu were awful, like the smoked meat burger and the food at the restaurant St Laurent. We had stayed a couple of times at the hotel and tried the St Laurent a few times, but have always been disappointed unfortunately.

Worthy of a special occasion

We had a wonderful dinner in an elegant dining room. The amuse-bouche was delicious, as were our appetizers of emu rolls, soup or salads. The veal was tasty but a little tough, and I enjoyed the accompanying fresh vegetables. The maple crème brûlée was very good and surprisingly so was the goat cheese banana pie! Excellent service, superb wine list.

Very pleasant stay in historic house

Reviewed By Denise L

This is a quaint B&B in a beautiful and lovingly-kept Victorian home with very friendly owners. Each room is uniquely decorated. Very pleasant terrace to have breakfast. Some breakfast items are homemade and the creton is delicious! This hotel deserves more than 2 star (it is only 2 star because it does not have AC and TV)

Ok inn.

We went there to go to the casino. The place from the outside looks nice but our room was too small. We had trouble walking in it and it was too hot. Otherwise, the room was nice. Unfortunatly, we had to cancel the second night and the owner was not happy about it. We understand, we had to cancel before but we didn’t have the choice. I don’t think i will return to this place.

This is an auberge of a certain era: read on the balcony while looking at the water; play croquet outside; have a drink on the terrace. It isn't in town so you'll have to drive anywhere else and, to be honest, La Malbaie was a bit of a let down compared to Baie St Paul just down the road (I'd stay there next time). The rooms are a bit dated but fine. The balcony was very small (2 chairs and just room to walk past them). The restaurant tried hard but everything lacked any seasoning/flavour.

Close to Metro grocery store and restaurants. Great place to stay and visit this beautiful area. We visited Tadoussac and watched whales from Cap de Bon Desir, a beautiful National Park and cycled the island of Isle aux Coudres. We would definitely stay here again.

VERY DISAPONTED

Booked this restaurant a week before arriving at La Malbaie. Spoke to owner when I made reservation. Wanted to make sure that a table would be available as we were travelling from 6 hours away. The night of the reservation arrived at the restaurant but the waitress could not find our reservation. Luckily the restaurant was not full. Wanted to go to this restaurant as they had Rack of Lamb. When I made the reservation i specifically asked about this dish and the owner said that they always have it available. Guess what no Rack of Lamb that night. No apology, nothing. When I explained my conversation with the owner to the waitress she acted very nonchalant. We stayed since it was getting late and had fish. Spoiled the entire evening. Will NEVER return.

Friendly pub with decent food

Reviewed By Tour68500491148

On a Monday night at the end of the season during the 4th wave of COVID-19 it is tricky to find somewhere that is open. The bar has a wide selection of micro brasserie beers on tap, some local, others from further afield in Quebec. Typical pub food is also available. We had the pork burger and traditional beef burger. Both were well cooked and tasted great. Covid-19 measures are in place but some staff did not stick to them when not serving. That said, whenever they were dealing directly with clients masks were used. The dog is a total softee and very friendly.
