This hotel is a wonderful calm and tranquil place in the centre of Galle Fort. The hotel is situated in a quiet street with a lovely garden at the front and courtyards at the back filled with tropical plants. The hotel is relatively small and very attractively designed. It is incredibly quiet and peaceful Our room was situated on the ground floor with patio doors to an attractive courtyard. The room was very comfortable with very efficient air-conditioning. The attached bathroom was very clean and everything functioned perfectly. The breakfast was served by the garden and was very good. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. They helped us with printing visas for our next destination. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to others and would definitely stay here again if in Galle.

The Postcard Galle

On Sri Lanka’s southwestern coast you’ll find the fortified city of Galle. It’s also where you’ll find The Postcard Galle. Located above the waters of a beautiful blue lagoon, the hotel offers incomparable views of the Indian Ocean and Gin River. It’s also a stone’s throw from the iconic and well-preserved heritage of centuries old, architecture and colonial neighbourhoods. With all of ten rooms, The Postcard Galle is just the place for some cultural exploration and solitude by the sea. At The Postcard Galle you can. Not just to the sound, but whole, sweeping views of the Indian Ocean. Perfectly private, the hotel’s ten rooms feature high Burmese Teak ceilings, wooden beds and titanium flooring—a homage to the island’s tropical, modernist aesthetic. Perfect for families and friends, the spacious Attic suites house upto four guests and come with a mezzanine floor and a private seating area overlooking the ocean. While the Luxury suites offer unmatched comfort and azure views to be enjoyed from the plunge pool or jacuzzi. Seafood, rice and coconuts are staples of traditional Sinhalese cuisine. Examples of which you’ll find aplenty at The Postcard Galle. But what makes the culinary offering truly special on this island nation is the many cultures that have come to influence it. The best therapy at The Postcard Galle is the sun, sand, and sea. But if you’re looking for a little more, there’s a varied selection of treatments on offer that are perfect for that much-needed rest and reinvigoration. Sri Lanka’s colonial past and its own Sinhalese and Tamilian traditions make it rich for exploration. Galle is a great starting point to explore this cultural mix. Walk its cobblestoned streets and discover gems of local and colonial architecture, eclectic spice markets, and some very hip boutiques and restaurants. For something a little more action-packed, you can also head to the beach town of Mirissa to surf, idle oceanside or meet the town’s most renowned visitor—The Blue Whale.
