Reviewed By miniminoThis unassuming hotel is located at 2000m on the Utukushigahara Pleateau. When we first arrived, we were surprised by the jovial staff at the lobby. They spoke a mix of japanese and little english as they explained to us all about our stay, the room, the free private onsen, dinner locations and the evening and morning tours. The room was partially renovated and we got one facing the 'ranch'. It was comfortable enough and the bed even had heaters installed. We loved the private onsen. You are free to book whatever timing you wished. There is a magnetic booking chart at the entrance of the onsens and you just place your room number in your desired slot. Otherwise, the public bath was good too. It had very nice scenery! Dinner and breakfast was a feast, made with fresh seasonal ingredients. We were very impressed by the cheerful service staff. I didn't drink alcohol and they immediately came back with a cup of grape juice for me. They brought out colouring sheets for the kids to keep them entertained while we were still finishing dinner. It was unfortunate that the evening we arrived, the surroundings was rather foggy. We missed the chance to view the stars with their telescope. But they took us out to the highlands where we spotted a few wild deers. They do provide thick jackets and flashlights for this trip. And when we arrived back, they gave us hot baked sweet potatoes. Heavenly! This is one of the most fun and hospitable places I've stayed in Japan. The atmosphere and the activities they have made all the difference. They have very limited rooms and are only open from May to early November.

Reviewed By 横江温まる内湯と少しぬるめの露天風呂でゆったりできます。 特に露天風呂は長くのんびり入れます。 建物は古く渡り廊下や階段が迷路のようですが案内表示で問題なく行き来できます。 夕食は地元の食材をふんだんに取り入れた和食です。 地酒も数種類あります。 何と言ってもグループ毎に個室を用意してもらえるので、家族でゆっくり楽しく食事ができます。 朝食も品数が多く豆乳鍋が温まって美味しかったです。 スタッフの皆さんも素朴ですがとても丁寧な対応でした。 おまけ 温泉卓球もありますよ！

Reviewed By gonnta09877月23日美ヶ原、霧ヶ峰登頂のため利用させてもらいました。美ヶ原高原内にあり、山頂を眺めながらの滞在でした。翌朝超早朝一旦出発。美ヶ原登頂後朝食を頂きました。三人で和室利用しました。充分広かったです。掃除の行き届いた館内でした。夕食はジンギスカン。野菜いっぱいで満足しました。デザートは一年がかりの自家製果物ワイン漬けでした。朝食はパンで、スープやおいしい牛乳のお替りで満足しました。コロナ禍で大変なのに優しくもてなししてくれました。冬にもまた泊まらせてほしいです。

Reviewed By Swede BMasuya Ryokan is the real thing, an old wooden Ryokan hotel that has survived the ages. It is not well-maintained though, some windows are missing, some floors are kind of iffy, and there are large hornet nests near the roofline. Glass panes rattle with the slightest breeze as there's no putty in them. No wi-fi or much of any other modern conveniences other than a TV in the room, and only one outlet, so you'll have to unplug the TV if you need to recharge your devices. The Onsen is nice, it was warm but not hot (I'd like it hotter, but many prefer it just warm). The maintenance issue means there was algae on the walls, this place is NOT scrubbed daily as many other Japanese hotels and ryokans are. Food was ok, but nothing to write home about. More like home cooking than hotel/restaurant expectations. The setting is very pretty in the valley between dramatic mountains, with a paved path running up the valley if you want to take a walk. It's not very convenient by public transporation; If you're coming from Tokyo without a car, the best bet is to take the shinkansen to Ueda station, and get a taxi (40 min) from there. If you can overlook all the flaws and are charmed by the history and authenticity, it's a good choice. If you're turned off by old creaky things, you'd do better at the similar but more modern places nearby.

ぬる湯の湯治宿でのんびり温泉満喫
Reviewed By aj268573若いご夫婦で始めた家族的な湯治風の宿です。旧旅館をご自身で部分改修し開業したと伺いました。途中コンビニで夕食を購入し素泊りでしたが炊事室にはレンジ、炊事用具があり自炊も可能で、二階にも共用冷蔵庫が設置されています。４、５室の宿ですが廊下のトイレは部屋ごとの専用トイレ利用です。部屋は昔風の和室で炬燵があり自宅のような感じでのんびりできました。温泉浴室は二つあり小ぶりな浴槽ですが貸切での利用です。温泉は冬場は少し加温しているようですが沓掛温泉３源泉混合の源泉かけ流しのアルカリ性単純温泉で、湯口付近では少し気泡が付着しました。夕、朝ゆったりと３７度ほどのぬる湯温泉でのんびり気持ち良く1時間弱長湯し温まりました。好みのぬるめの温泉を満喫しました。

居心地の良いペンションです
Reviewed By wandbr7こじんまりとした気持ちの良いペンションでした。 掃除の行き届いた清潔感のあるお部屋、美味しいお食事…とても居心地良く過ごすことができました。 お食事のメニューは気を衒ったものではなく、良くあるメニューではあるものの、味付けのバランスが良く丁寧に作られた感じで、子供も「全部美味しいから、また食べに来たい！」と言う程でした。今回は観光ではなかったため、慌ただしく一泊のみでしたが、今度観光で寄る際は腰を落ち着けて楽しみたい…そんな宿でした。

美味しい朝食と夕食と高原の朝
Reviewed By toisuna３人部屋でしたが、狭いとは感じませんでした。料理は、夕飯も美味しくて満足でしたが、朝食もサラダ・スープ・サンドウィッチ・デザート・コーヒーと美味しく頂きました。 無料Wifiも利用出来て、販売しているビールの値段も良心的で部屋飲みも出来て、良かったです。
