Gorgeous building, disappointing stay!

Reviewed By Eat1Drink2Travel3

This hotel is well situated in the city’s smartest street and has a smart and elegant feel about it. The architecture is typical of Saint Denis’ colonial villas. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in for a while. The customer service was mixed depending upon which staff member we interacted with. Unfortunately there were a number of issues during our three night stay. We were allocated a relatively small room with a small window in the corner of the room looking out on to the rubbish bins. The automatic toilet light didn't work. The TV remote was out of battery. The air conditioner made a whirring sound. We complained about the noise and were told by a friendly receptionist that she did not have access to an engineer and all rooms were full but they could move us for the last night of our stay. The new room was above an office in the back of the property and overlooked the kitchen so was clearly noisy and with the only window facing the kitchen it wasn't very private. Sadly, the TV remote in this room also didn’t work either and when we asked the receptionist, we were given a different remote control which also didn't work (no surprise as it was for a different brand than the TV in our room). We asked if we could have some milk to make tea with the provided kettle in the room and were told that they didn't have any and I should go and get it from the Carrefour supermarket around the corner. Disappointingly, I was asked more than six times during our stay if I would like to book breakfast in the morning- not sure how this would have been possible without milk! Altogether, given this was the most expensive hotel in town, our three night stay was marred by the above.

A great place to stay in St Denis

Reviewed By John O

I have spent 8 nights at this lovely hotel, right in the centre of St Denis so it is walking distance to most places, that is if you can handle the 35 degrees - buy an umbrella! The staff are lovely and helpful, with a special mention to Olivia who I relied on at times. The breakfast is continental and certainly adequate and to a good standard. This can set you up for the day. They have a good pool, I spent a lot of time in, that has some depth and sitting near the pool having a beer is a good way to pass the time relaxing. The evening meal was also good if you chose to eat in. The downsides would be the bedroom and en-suite are compact, so you need to organise yourself and the air conditioning in the bedroom struggled to do its job. Apart from that, I can certainly recommend a stay at this lovely establishment.

Experience of my stay May 2022

I stayed there for 4 days in May 2022 and my remarks are: 1. a smell of rotten garbage is felt at the entrance 2. most frustrating is that I saw an advert saying that over 62 will get a 10% discount on the room rate. When I check with the reception, I was told that I am already getting a promo rate. second reason is that I should have book on their website and not in person with the hotel. 3. I stayed 4 days and my rooms are not dobe everyday.

Good, Functional, but missing the personal feel

Reviewed By David F

The hotel was spacious & clean. But from the check-in, the hotel felt impersonal - like everyone was just a number, not a guest or even client. The hotel room itself, felt sterile, did not 'feel' as though it had any character. That said, the receptionist that was on for my check-out was quite personable, friendly & human. In summary, the hotel just lacked the 'human touch'.

Stayed from sunday 5th of june lunchtime for one night. Lunch was great : fresh food, imaginative cooking - I took the shrimps with coconut flavour as a starter, and then the "legine" fish. Side vegetable were delicious. Plates are beautifull, so the pleasure starts with looking at the food. Diner was great too : a pure moment of happiness on the restaurant's terrass. Must say I missed breakfast cause I didn't hear the clock alarm (beds and pillows are very comfortable, so are sheets). Even though time was over, the restaurant manager organized a "mini" continental breakfast plate for me : croissant, bread, cheese, ham, 4 types of fruits. Lovely ! The crew is dedicated, available and always kind and smilling. Although the majority of it is young, they are already professionnal and do really care ! The only problem I encounter was with the hammam I had booked for a 45 min relaxing session : didn't work well as temperature was too low. I reported to the front desk clerk, who apologized. And then spontaneously told me I would'nt be charged. I took the time to write this review cause it was an excellent experience, and the team deserves it ! My name is Laurent, I am a real local guest, and most of all a demanding client.
