Above and beyond expectation

This was a 2day getaway surprise from my husband for his birthday, just the three of us. We arrived quite earlier than the usual check-in time and as understandable as it was, the room wasn't ready but we were provided our welcome drinks while waiting and my son kept us busy exploring the new surrounding.. its tranquility and ambience was wonderful and the staff were very accommodating in checking in on us whilst we waited to be given a room. It wasn't long when we were told we had the room ready and to our surprise they even had put in a portable baby cot which we hadn't had asked for upon our reservation online. The room was super clean with a long handled-broom, dust-pan and brush and mop with a small bucket in a cupboard, and in my case, i like to keep my space clean and when coming back from the pool drenched wet and walking about- having that mop was a life-saver. The kitchenette was super organised, clean and felt so homely. Even a clothes drying-rack was there for each room so laundry wasn't even a problem. The bathroom was neatly clean with extra towels. The bed was ok with additional comfy pillows and woolen blankets provided on a shelf. Breakfast was great with the attendant been very friendly and kind in ensuring we were ok. The buffet breakfast spread was presentable and being very strict in measures of hygiene that mask wearing when serving was mandatory (because of COVID) and I was glad to see staffs with gloves etc. We had booked a studio but surely was worth what we paid for. A Burger King and InterMarket supermarket were just 5mins walk away with a little mall-like with doctors clinic, vet clinic, cafes and ATM. Thank you to the team for making those 2 days a real getaway for us. Hoping to return soon.

Very good stay !

Reviewed By Papillon123

Pleasantly surprised with this hotel, I really recommend it. It is not on the beach, but close. Very nice pool as a good counterpart, offering a great view of the sunset. Staff is very friendly and helpful! We had a nice room with the view on the pool. Size of the room is ok for 3, with a nice terrasse, however not much space to store clothes. Not enough hooks or stands for wet towels or clothes. Adding a small table and chairs on the terrasse would be very nice! Clean room, which is very appreciated. Quality of the restaurant is very good, however a bit expensive. What is really too bad, is the fact that there is no simple food (sandwiches, salads,...) for lunch to eat around the pool. There was a menu, but we were told that it was not open these days. I don't think Covid is the reason, especially when the restaurant is open... Pool is very nice, kid friendly, and not difficult to get a chaise lounge. Parking is convenient in the hotel, even though often pretty full. We had a very nice stay, we'll most probably come back, and hope to have next time the possibility to have simple lunches around the pool. At the same time, this forced us to try other nearby restaurants around, which is not a bad thing...

Avoid this dreadful hotel

The worst hotel I've ever been to - definitely not a 5* hotel as advertised. Please, please do not book this hotel - it is a 3* hotel at best, masquerading as a 5* hotel. We booked 5 nights as part of our honeymoon and it ruined the whole trip for us. The rooms are old, dated, drab and smelly. Our room had a nasty smell I think from the furniture which I believe the hotel was trying to conceal by putting air freshener inside the Aircon unit which was giving me a headache - similar to a previous review below. Moreover the the bathrooms have black mould in them - see photos. Food-wise - the evening buffet is not good at all. The currys were all unappetising often using recycled food... Lots of the food on offer was basically untouched by the evening because it was so unappetising. It's the only buffet I've ever been to where the previous nights' dinners (eg gyozas) are then on offer the following morning! And it's supposed to be a 5* hotel! Here comes the good bit..the service. Some of the staff were ok and friendly but when we complained about our room - we were met with a rude member of staff who never apologized or uttered the words sorry regarding our experience. Similarly, when a waiter accidentally brought the wrong drink to us at dinner, there was no apology for the misunderstanding, he simply walked off and another waiter took the order. Truly shocking in my opinion! The only selling point is the beachfront location - but do not let this mislead you.

Excellent staff and restaurant

Reviewed By Svein_Grahnstedt

What makes this hotel stand out is its fantastic staff and excellent restaurant at lunch / dinner. Everybody are really friendly and service minded and meets you with a smile. Restaurant service is efficient and the dishes are beautifully presented as well as tasting really good. Breakfast is adequate but unremarkable. The building itself, located two minutes from the beach, is unpretentious, but well kept and clean. The ground floor and restaurant is wheelchair accessible. However, the hotel does not have a lift. The rooms are spacious with large comfortable beds. Some might find soundproofing somewhat limited. WiFi coverage is fast and reliable throughout the premises. Given the opportunity I would definitely stay again.

Good value for money in Saint-Gilles

Good value for money when looking for a 3 stars hotel in St-Gilles-les-Bains. We selected a studio which had an outdoor kitchen and large bathroom. There is also a shared pool to enjoy before 3pm to avoid the shadow. Make sure you have a car before booking this hotel as it is a must. The location is 2km from the downtown on the hills and you’ll definitely not enjoy the stay without a car ;-) We also found the double beds a bit small, at least smaller than average.

worst hotel i’ve ever been in.

Reviewed By latelyfoodie

let’s start of with the rooms, they are okay but don’t offer maximum comfort, the pillows are super uncomfortable the showers don’t close, and the outdoor furniture is made out of plastic and are very ugly. Second of all let’s talk about the pool: they are literal rows of mattresses but clients change the spots, kids splash and run around screaming and not taken care of by the parents. The pool side also offers a bar but we ordered a coca cola zero and ended up with a fake and cheap cola. the poolside also has seating places where clients bring chips, smoke, and mess up everything. Let’s move on to the breakfast: WORST BUFFET EVER!!! you’ve got to get your drinks yourself, the food is premade and bought, the quality of the food is horrible and the service is bad. we spoke to a server who told us it was his first day and that the hotel was getting inexperienced workers. After having a horrible breakfast we decided not to try lunch or dinner at the hotel. The fitness center is dirty, small and doesn’t have AC. And finally the hotel in general is just bad and mediocre.

Beats all expectations!

Reviewed By Sandya-and-Erik

Only when you have spent a few hours it becomes clear how brilliant the architecture and concept is. A 2-part U-shaped pool of almost 100 m long, sky bridges connecting the buildings, and many swim-up rooms; part of the pool is visible through 'aquarium windows' in the reception area. We had a suite tucked in a corner and hence a bit more silent. Dinner was excellent though they pushed very pricey drinks, breakfast also good but less friendly staff. Reception staff made our day by calling around to arrange a timely PCR test where our driver had failed to find one, and next day printed the results for free. Also laundry service quicker than expected. Tea & coffee making in the room, and a good jacuzzi bath tub and separate toilet. For us by far the best hotel we had in one week in the island. A Vegas-style 'grandeur' not often found in places like this...
