Reviewed By R4826XYdavidtI stayed a week in the 9 person dorm, and it was a pleasure. The restaurant serves delicious food. The front desk staff were always friendly and helpful. The location is just a few minutes from Plaza Grande. For the budget traveler, it doesn't get much better than this. But there is no place for conveniently washing and drying clothes.

Amazing for families with young children
Reviewed By B5269XTkatiepI nearly cancelled my reservation before we came because I thought a hostel so inexpensive would not be suitable for my small kids, who are 16 months and 4 years. I was worried about the vibe, would people be annoyed with them, would people be too loud etc. This is definitely a hostel but has an absolute hotel vibe. There is no drinking allowed in the main areas and nobody is allowed to hang out past ten pm,which has made it quiet and lovely. When I booked, I was concerned about the open windows as my children are so little, and they kindly booked us in a room with the windows facing the hall. It has been quiet and peaceful. My children are welcomed. The beds are big enough to share with kids and the blankets are warm and cozy. The temperature is perfect. It is spotlessly clean and the kitchens have tons of space. The front door faces a sort of alley (although not sketchy) so the kids can walk in and out safely. It is so close to all the restaurants, grocery, bus terminal and places to organize trips. Honestly you don't have to break the bank to get comfort here! Book it!

Blue House is a youth hostel located in the best tourist area of Quito, a few blocks from the square Foch, with easy access to areas of interest of the city, the house was built 60 years ago, worked here the former Embassy of Colombia, the hostel has large and beautiful areas in common with plenty of natural light and a large courtyard with barbecue.

Reviewed By mikot286I was staying at another hostel which was ok and more expensive, when I found the blue house nearby I moved ASAP. It has a great atmosphere, very safe, cheap, and has everything you could ask for from a hostel. The dueños are very easy going and friendly too.

Reviewed By till_grameAfter staying at the Montañita Cabañas for almost 2 months for learning Spanish in the nearby school, this lovely place feels really like home to me. My room which I shared with 2 other friends was very clean for Ecuadorian standards, the bed comfortable and the shower has warm water. The staff overall was really helpful, but we could find the cleaning staff very often though, it would have been nicer to have them around more available. Also on the weekends the Wifi gets slow sometimes.

HE GOOD: - Very close to "downtown" - Great Breakfast (Crape with chocolate sauce, various fruits, bread, butter, jam, coffee and juice) in a beautiful terrace where lots of birds are flying around - Clean - Affordable - Big rooms - They have some tours to offer - Filtered water in the first floor - Great service THE BAD - There were a couple of nightclubs very close by, so it was a bit noisy at night - The shower was kind of bad - No nightstand light - VERY simple rooms. I don't mind it, but it might discourage older folks like me. VERDICT Great for the price, I would stay there again.

Reviewed By 287lisbethaViejamar is a wonderful hostel. The location is perfect, right on the beach near the village of Las Tunas. If you look for tranquility it’s the place to go to, you can relax at the hostel around the pool, on the balcony or in the chilling areas or at the beach. Everything is outdoors, you can sometimes spot hummingbirds, iguanas, crabs and many other birds. The staff is great, always here to make sure the guests get the best experience.

Reviewed By psych4travelSpent one night here before heading to the Amazon. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower had good water pressure and hot water (just wait a minute or so for it to come on). Wifi signal was strong. I had dinner and this is where I am taking off a star. The staff doesn’t speak English and there was no question about dietary preference and my main protein was something I don’t eat. Breakfast was excellent! The property itself is beautiful and nice to enjoy and relax.

The rooms were very cute, I had some of the best sleep of my life there. The property is also beautiful and full of gorgeous plants. The pool is also very nice and clean.

Great atmosphere, staff and organization
Reviewed By MariaA1576We stayed for a week in total at the secret garden. Dorms are basic but clean and beds are very comfortable with a privacy curtain. The roof top has a great vibe and beautiful views and food was good and affordable. Because of the bar it's loud, but what I appreciated tremendously was that it closes at 11 with plenty of opportunities to go elsewhere after. Even arranged by the hostel. That meant the rest of us who needed to sleep could actually do so! Don't forget to visit the Cotopaxi hostel, it's a must!

All our rooms are spacious, have lockers, lamps, tables, some with shared and private bathroom. Every day we have a special ingredient, different at breakfast you never get bored !! You must come to discover it and enjoy our homemade jam, wholemeal bread, coffee, unlimited tea. We have a large room to enjoy reading a good book or exchange them, maybe watch an excellent movie in our movie space. We have laundry service, drying, change of Euros .

I stayed for a week in February, then brought my husband back for a month in March and now I am back for a month in September. Each time I return I see very nice improvements. The hosts and workers are spectacular and very responsive and respectful. I have received GREAT advice about what to do and where to do it. I feel like I am coming home each time I return. If you cannot be happy here, you cannot be happy anywhere. The owner and workers are lifelong residents, the info and help they provide is invaluable.
