Cacao Experience beyond my expectations

Reviewed By isabM7510QN

I was flying from Galápagos Islands back to the USA and had one day to spare in Guayaquil. The city was not the safest place to spend that day and I decided to go to the countryside. In the morning I texted on WhatsApp with Hacienda La Danesa contact person and a very welcoming coordinator arrange an afternoon airport pick up for me, booked a room and explained that cacao tour, river tubing, chocolate making experience and breakfast are included in the rate. The experience was beyond amazing, my stable room was a pure luxury and I was welcomed by a personal host Yvonne with deep care, she made my stay amazing beyond my expectations! The cacao plantation experience was so interesting, I’ve never seen anything like that before. If anyone wants to see true Ecuador, Hacienda La Danesa is a must-visit place!

Perfect get away during Covid!

Reviewed By Climber574910

We are expats living in Quito and love getting out of the city on the weekends and this is one of our favorite places. The grounds are truly amazing- acres of organic gardens where you can pick as many veggies as you want, rabbits, cuye, chickens, cows, horses, My kids loved collecting eggs and harvesting veggies to cook for dinner. There are several houses on the property, each of them have multiple rooms with multiple beds so you can share with extended family. The gourmet kitchens are well stocked and we made huge meals with all the garden bounty. The kids milked cows, made cheese, and rode horses. We took a day trip to hike Lake Cuicocha, but there was plenty to do on the property.

Amazing Host and Nice, comfortable room

Reviewed By NorthshoreSG

We stayed for 2 nights. On the first night, I had food poisoning. Humuela, out host was incredible (The owner Sylvia was away and she was helping out). The next morning, she took me to the local hospital and helped us with the hospital formalities, not to mention being our translator too. She was with me from start to end. She really went beyond the call of duty to help me in a most distressing situation. And for that, I am eternally grateful. The hotel was about 10 mins walk from the pier and if you are arriving by flight, the taxi ride is only 5 mins and can be arranged with the hotel (cost was only US$3 if I recall). The room we had was next to the main reception area, so it was super convenient, especially when getting the free filtered water. Food is easily available with numerous restaurants within walking distance. Just be careful where you eat or you might get the same unfortunate experience as I did. Wi-fi strength was strong and the shower's hot water was good. The room was simple with a ceiling fan (which was creaky. Need to oil it). There is a kitchenette next to our room, so you can do some simple cooking and also a fridge to put your groceries too. Free coffee and tea is available too. Some rooms (on the 2nd floor) have their own kitchenette. Definitely an easy choice to stay here!

Had a fantastic experience staying here. A beautiful place in the outskirts of the center of cuenca, great rooms, great beds and lovely breakfast served in the morning - full on service! My sister got a stomach ache on the second day, and the elderly couple that runs the place were very sweet to help with tee and suggestions to getting better with the height sickness. You really feel at home in this place, at every age group!

Good location and lovely views

Reviewed By LondonLassE1

We had a nice stay here as part of a tour group. The location, breakfast and rooms are all great, short walk to the beach and restaurants. The room we had was very big! Only downsides were that the shower wasn't very hot. Also, it's near a school which was a little noisy as could hear the school bell. Surprised that they provided soap in small plastic packets and the cleaners threw away our soap every day so we had to open a new one, which was a bit wasteful.

Amazing view to wake up and fall asleep with

Reviewed By Dora B

This hostel is the most beautiful place to stay in Mompiche. It's located directly by the water and builded opened with a lot of windows. You have a beautiful view to the bay in both directions, you are at the beach immediately and you hear the sound of the waves the whole time. In the morning you can watch the fishermen starting their daily work and during the day you can relax in one of the several hammocks. The beds are comfortable and you have moskito nets everywhere. The fact that almost everything is made out of wood fullfills the natural and comfortable appearance of this place. My advice is to get one of the rooms on the upper levels to get the full beach- and ocean-view!
