We stayed for 4 nights and everything was perfect. The owners (Tracy and Kyle), really made things easy and well organized for us. All the staff are very helpful and friendly. Cabanas are perfect for couples and always clean. We really enjoyed our stay. We can’t wait to go back to Siargao and stay again at SOULTRIBE.

The place was really amazing, specially the Bali and Falls. But here are the things that make our stay irritating. Accommodation: For Kubo Room, I won't recommend it if hindi nyo kamasa yung nasa kabilang room. The guest beside our room were so inconsiderate. Past 12 midnight naka speakers pa din sila. Alam naman na hanggang 10pm lang ang happy hour. Tho malinis and spacious naman ang Kubo Room and good for couple na talaga. Need lang ng maintenance kasi may part na sira na. Staffs: Not friendly and not accommodating. They should check the place if tahimik na at 10pm. We tried messaging them on their FB page and we also texted them regarding our concern kasi nga ang inggay ng kabilang room, pero wala. Ni walang nag assist. Kami na ang sumita sa kabilang room. Pool and Bathroom Shower: For the pool, may part na madulas at malumot. For the CR sana maayos na tabo manlang yung iprovide. No water heater. Satisfied kami sa view, so we're hoping next time satisfied na din kami sa service.

Isolated but comfortable

Reviewed By steven s

I booked via their website and prepaid my room 5 months in advance. I printed off a copy of their email confirming my booking. I showed up to check in and no record of my booking. Asked me for a voucher which was never sent to me. After 1/2 hour my booking was honoured. My room was situated on the side of a hill with views out to the surrounding mountains. The bed had clean linen and was comfortable with side tables. There was a small table and a chair and a wardrobe. Lighting was good. The aircon, ceiling fan and TV all worked well. I had to use a power point in the bathroom to recharge my phone. The large tiled bathroom had a separate recessed shower area. Nice hot water shower with average water pressure. The balcony had a table and two chairs. The restaurant menu was primarily local dishes. I usually order chicken curry which was good but only had four different vegetables. Service, in general was pretty good. Reception were able to organise my trike trip to the nearby waterfall. They have a caged monkey here which was pretty sad to see. Nice gardens everywhere. Complimentary trike to the Port. I only stayed here one night but it was an enjoyable stay.

Chill out isolation

Reviewed By steven s

It is a bumpy 4km ride from the main road. I think I was the only guest when I stayed here. This resort is on the eastern side of the island so it is affected by the prevailing winds. The beach is also affected by washed up seaweed but the caretakers are out daily cleaning it up. This is a one beach one resort location. My room had a double bed, single bed, wardrobe with attached table top and a chair. The lighting was good. The aircon unit was fairly quiet and worked well. The only power point was inconveniently located where you had to place your phone on the floor when recharging or use the chair. The large bathroom had a separate recessed shower area. The hot water system worked well as was the water pressure. The basin faucet had virtually no water pressure, it was no more than a dribble. I reported the problem to reception. Dinner from the restaurant needs to be preordered prior to 5pm. You will be totally reliant on the restaurant for meals as there is nothing else around. Food was okay. Mango/banana shakes were excellent. Hopefully they will soon use an alternative to plastic straws. Mosquitos are out playing once the sun goes down so use a repellent. Internet data can be slow at times. The resort's wifi is unreliable. Customer service is limited to your requests. DO NOT miss out on walking up to the viewpoint. Only a short walk and well worth it for the views. The isolated location makes it a great place to just chill out. The big plus...no roosters.

Mecaja Dive Resort

Infested with Bed-Bugs and Fleas!!

Reviewed By KFCfan

Let me start by saying, i am a 55yr old male and an experienced traveler, i have been to Palawan in the Philippines several times and it's a great place, but if it was possible to give less than 1 star rating for this health hazard accommodation, i would do. The only good thing about Mecaja Dive Resort is that the local Managers (Edmond & Pamela) were very nice people, and the beachfront location is picturesque. However, the negatives far outweigh the positives. I stayed there for 3 nights in May 2022, in a beachfront cabin (#08). The rooms are basic, which is OK, because i wasn't expecting a 5-star resort. I also wasn't expecting to be almost eaten alive every night by whatever creatures have infested the bed & pillows. Of course i did the usual 'pull back the sheets' quick inspection before i went to bed, to ensure there were no surprises waiting for me. When i woke in the morning, i noticed a few tiny red bumps on my legs, arms and torso, but as there is no Air Conditioning in the cabin, i initially thought it was possibly a heat rash. After the second night, i was almost covered in more red bumps and they were itching like crazy. Incidentally, a couple staying in the cabin next door that i befriended told me they were also being severely bitten. Please note, the bites are absolutely definitely not from mosquitoes, as there were none to be seen. Whatever was eating us, was living inside the cabins. In addition to the bed-bug / flea infestation, and no AC, there was also no hot water at any time of the day / night, and the water source itself was brown coloured with a strange 'earthy' odor, no matter how long the water had been left running. The bathroom was poorly maintained and the shower was nothing more than a trickle of rusty water. The one towel provided was heavily stained. I asked for a replacement, and i duly received another heavily stained towel, which i again asked to be changed - 3rd time lucky! I was so uncomfortable with the itching bites that i couldn't wait to leave! On my plane journey home, i felt more itching and i noticed new / fresh bite marks appearing on my torso. It was then that i realized that the infestation had contaminated my clothing and i was carrying the bugs / fleas on my clothes! As soon as i reached my home, i put ALL my travel clothes on a boil wash and high heat drying cycle, including the ones i hadn't even worn / removed from my bag whilst in resort. The itching and bites were so bad and were now covering most of my body, that i went to hospital, where the doctors couldn't believe the extent of bites that i was suffering. They assessed the bites as either bed-bugs or flea bites and they prescribed anti histamines and a topical cream to try and alleviate the itches. Two days after returning and washing all my clothes, i put on a pair of the same (laundered) jeans that i had taken on my travels, within minutes of wearing them, i had new fresh bites on my legs. I am now faced with the stressful and expensive task of having my entire wardrobe and apartment treated by professional pest exterminators to try and kill off the bed-bugs / fleas that Mecaja Dive Resort bestowed on me. I can honestly say that the accommodation was the worst i have ever stayed in during any of my travels and i would highly recommend to anyone that takes the time to read this review, DO NOT GO THERE!!! The entire Mecaja Dive Resort should be closed down as a public health hazard!

We stayed at the Hiwang Native Inn and Viewdeck for 3 nights at the end of October. We stayed in a native hut, which was certainly an experience. The views from the hut were absolutely amazing. The owner was very approachable and nothing was too much trouble. We were able to arrange evening lifts into Banaue town for evening meals and went on so many incredible tours of the area during the day. The only thing I will not miss is the 156 steps leading up to our hut.

On arrival we have received the most friendly welcome ever from Michael (the owner). Fantastic place in secluded area of Sibaltan with amazing view from the hut overlooking the sea :) We were greeted with stunning sunrise while still in bed. Place is a pure tranquility, short distance to the beach. Nowhere during our holiday in Philippines did we rest as much as during those 2 days that we stayed there. Michael is a very good host, prepared us amazing bulalo soup for dinner that we were crying from happiness when eating. And we woke up to a smell of freshly baked bread in the morning! We were feeling like staying at family. So welcome and so adorable place, this close to the nature at very good level of comfort is achieved here with simplicity. Love it!
