Amazing time!!!

Reviewed By Excursion299030

Our family of 5 booked 2 cabins for 3 nights here and we had such an amazing time. The service is nothing short of a 5 stars. It gets pretty cold in the night as the campsite is surrounded by trees and nature. The rooms are very well appointed, well thought to the details, all the things that we required are there and the heater comes in handy especially at night when the temperature dropped to 8 degrees. We woke up to a beautiful mountainous view and had hot coffee at the balcony. The breakfast is delicious, my kids especially love the hot pancakes served at the end of our breakfast. Our last day at the hotel, we were able to enjoy our last breakfast there with the owner and his lovely family, along with the waterfall as the backdrop. Oscar and his team really took very good care of us. Compared to the 4 other nights we stayed in the city hotel, luxury camp really left us with such a deep impression that we can’t wait to go back there again for a really relaxing getaway in the nature. We also did hiking, zipline and rope course at the green jungle park only 2 minutes away campsite. Totally enjoyed ourselves there too. We had bbq dinner and bonfire were set up for 2 nights where kids had so much fun, toasting their own marshmallows (which they brought there). Enjoying the dinner outdoor with stars above us and warming ourselves to the bonfire is such a treat. Don’t look any further and book with luxury camp for a wonderful and memorable stay. You will not regret.

Rodeado de naturaleza

Reviewed By LPalmer11

On our days 5 & 6 we continued our family trip in North Laos stopping by Nam Nga area to enjoy trekking and different landscape. Fantastic time. And shall I say not only you may enjoy quiet and beautiful countryside, but Noy (the owner), will take great care of you. Both her cultural enlightenment and cooking skills combined with a natural kindness made this stop unique and memorable.

Tranquil camping experience

Reviewed By Gelley11

After reading the great reviews on tripadvisor we decided to visit Tad Thong. We were one of the first people to have camped there. It was such a peaceful night in the fresh air and it was a lovely break from the hotels! Great price as well! We slept in a sala (I think that is what it was called) and they provided us with a mosquito net, blankets, pillows and a mat to sleep on. It was definitely a highlight of our stay in Laos. It was beautiful and very tranquil and there were very few tourists when we went. We also went swimming in the lake. The walk is great. The path is paved and there are bins all the way around. A lot of work has gone into the trail and we didn't see a single person as we walked around. There is also a dirt path leading from the main trail and if you follow this you will find yourself in a little village that hasn't been touched by tourism. It was great to see the villagers just getting on with their everyday lives as you walk though. No-one trying to sell things. Having said that we bought a packet of chips from a tiny store there for 500 kip. We also followed a road going out of the village and there was a little school there. The food and the restaurant was delicious. One morning we were asked if we wanted to have a traditional Laos breakfast, that wasn't on the menu. It was sticky rice with veggies in a sauce. It was delicious! Although we were told they ran out of veggies, so one of the guys had to go fetch some from the jungle! One afternoon there were some locals hanging out playing a game at the restaurant and they invited us to join them, which was really enjoyable. All in all it was a fantastic couple of days and I would highly recommend people go before everyone discovers how awesome this place is and it gets busy.

they have taken a beautiful corner of nature and destroyed it with filth and stupidity. The rooms are unspeakable: filthy sheets, smelly pillows... the site itself is indescribably dirty, littered with garbage and rotting food. Charging 100,000 kip a room but they are tired of people complaining so will lower it to 50,000

Shangri Lao

Located in the middle of the beautiful Laotian jungle in Luang Prabang, Shangri-Lao Classic Explorer Camp & Expeditions, invites you to re-live the adventures of Dr. P. Neis, an historic French explorer from the 19th century. Re-trace his footsteps along the very same tranquil streams and dense jungle in his original and authentic style whilst staying in luxury tents with breathtaking views just as he did in 1883. Sit atop the magnificent elephant as she slowly and peacefully takes you through the pristine jungle, though spectacular Teak forests and by local farms. With a choice to stay overnight in our stunning tents; you will wake up refreshed the next day with a new sense of being in the world. To rise early and see the morning mist slowly rise from the Namkhan River, then walk into the heart of the jungle to collect your elephant ready to bathe, is a truly unique experience & one that will last in your memory forever...

Ok elephant experience

Reviewed By JPWRDB

We booked this overnight trip with friends who really wanted the elephant experience. We were picked up early from our hotel in Luang Prabang and taken to the sanctuary. As we were staying overnight the day guests were introduced to the elephants first. We waited around for well over an hour before our experience started - this made me think we could have been picked up quite a bit later and relaxed a bit more over breakfast. Anyway, once we were introduced to the elephants we did have a good experience - I am not really sure how happy the elephants were to have people riding them all day as by the end of the day they looked pretty fed up to me! But then I am an experienced elephant expressions reader! The accomodations were rustic but pleasent - some very loud music started playing across the river very early in the morning so that woke us up early. The food was just above average. If I was to do tis again (and I don't think I would) I would not stay overnight

Not bad, Not Great

Reviewed By Mark0545

The best thing about this place is the location on a beautiful reservoir. My tent was very nice. It’s not as tranquil as you might expect as there are a few noisy motorized fishing boats on the move from 4am. I had to also get up at 2am to turn off the lights around the BBQ as the lights were going into my tent. The thing letting this place down the most is the food. Not much choice and very very flavorless. Not a chili or any seasoning to be found anywhere. The cook really needs to be let go! Take some snacks if you want to eat between meals as there isn’t anything on offer. On the plus side There is a resident dog that is very beautiful!
