Traditional onsen hotel at the lakeside with nice food and staffs

Reviewed By Lucainsomewhere

Bokoro Ryokan is a very nice onsen hotel in Kurayoshi. It has the only one outdoor onsen on the lake in Japan. Their onsen is very clean and nice, you can enjoy both outdoor and indoor while you stay, but the outdoor one has really nice view and peaceful feeling. Their roooms are all traditional Japanese tatami, but the bed and blanket they provide is very soft and really comfortable. The room is quite large, and have the necessities. Usually it included both dinner and breakfast, both of them are tasty and make you so full! The hotel staffs are very nice and experienced with good smile and warm welcome. The only thing of this hotel is the location, if you’re driving that’s not really matter, if you are taking public transport to the hotel, you can reserve the shuttle bus at certain times or public bus also access there if you cannot make the shuttle bus reservation. Bokoro is really a nice onsen hotel, highly recommend!!! Btw Conan manga has been drawn this at background, cool!

Poor service and the things you get does not worth the money you paid for. The nightmare started from getting to the hotel. They offered free shuttle bus service from Kurayoshi station, but have to reserve it before arrival. I sent out my request 3 days before through agency website but no reply until I arrived. I tried to call them 2 days before for literally hundred of times, but the line was either unreachable or no one picking up. Both the agency and my previous hotel tried to call them but came back with the same result. So I ended up spending another ¥470 on bus to the hotel. This huge hotel only has 1 receptionist knows how to speak English but not there all the time. Very unprofessional receptionists who do not even know how to process payment with MasterCard. Both the dinner and breakfast experience was awful, the quality of the dinner was bad, can’t believe I paid so much for this half-board stay. Not much food choices during the breakfast buffet, can’t imagine this kind of standard is from a onsen hotel. I was charged ¥150 extra for onsen tax which was not stated neither on my agency website nor check-in form. It’s not much but the feeling of unawareness is sucks.

Location is outstanding, with great view over a lake surrounding the ryokan. Onsen are gorgeous. Rooms are extremely large, with full japanese furniture. Dinner was absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately no western breakfast served. Grilling fish smelling bad at 7 am.

Ok

Ryokan Ohashi is a traditional Japanese onsen hotel, quite commonplace in my opinion. We picked it because the alternatives looked even less promising. Very polite staff, normal room (a bit dated though), normal meals. The public onsen was good. About the dinner, I was quite surprised that they sent someone from the kitchen to grill the beef in the room. The beef was exceptional (everything else was average) but I didn’t appreciate the smoke and smell from grilling which lingered in my room. Also, our server (an older lady) was a bit too relaxed with us, even though she was very polite. During dinner, she gestured to us a few times to pass used dishes to her so she didn’t have to get up and walk to the other end of the table to collect them. It’s no big deal, guess the old lady was just too tired, but I didn’t think this would be acceptable to Japanese guests

Amazing experience

Reviewed By erikaps105

To be honest, we didn’t expect much when booked this hotel in Misasa onsen area. But Seiryuso really surprised us in many ways. The outlook of this hotel may not as good as others in Misasa, but it’s fine and acceptable inside. The room and washroom is clean and in good order. We booked two rooms with river views and both breakfast and dinner. The staff there are helpful and kind in many ways. The food are delicious. We didn’t expected to have such wonderful feasts as the price of rooms is rather cheap. We used all four onsen in hotel. All are great and lovely. I got a chance to take photos of onsen as there’s no others during our usage. They provided onsen water for drinking too (and coffee made by onsen water in the morning). Misasa onsen area is a peaceful place. We will no doubt choose to stay in Seiryuso again if we visit Misasa. Highly recommended.

Great ryokan in Misasa

Reviewed By c n

I recently spent a night in Misasa, in order to hike up Mitokusan the next day. Staying at Kiya Ryokan was a terrific experience. The owner came to pick me up at Kurayoshi Station (after a call from the friendly and helpful tourist information office staff) and was very welcoming; he was also good about trying to converse with me in English, as I have limited Japanese. The staff was very friendly and the dinner and breakfast very good. They have different onsen ofuros to choose from, and the room I stayed in was spacious and comfortable. The owner also helped me get to Mitokusan from the ryokan (I went in early June, which is the off-season, so it wasn't too crowded), and then back to Kurayoshi when I was departing. I would definitely stay here again, allowing more days for experiencing Misasa--one night/day wasn't enough!
