Excellent, must try

We have been in Japan often and This is the best half board onsen hotel we Ever had. Location near supermarket, outdoor onsen view was great, especially in the morning. Food was excellent, we stayed for 2 nights had different types of JAPANESE food, the second day was BBQ. Too much food with good quality. There is massage chair in the onsen lobby which you can use after hot springs which was thoughtful. One disadvantage which I have to say will be there are around 3 mins road to the hotel which is very narrow, need to drive carefully. Otherwise it’s the best hotel and good value for money.

Chanced upon this onsen ryokan whilst researching on Ise Shima. All i can say is it's a gem. Lots of aged workers but they are very cute and welcoming. Even at the pier, the boatman was waiting and watching out for us coz we only reached the pier at about 4 pm. ("R u from Singapore ?" the boatman yelled when we got out from the taxi ) We stayed for three nights. The onsen is good. This is a ryokan patronised by Japanese only. Although it seems a remote place the onsen hotel is very well patronised when we were there. We didn't see any international tourist. Although almost no English is spoken by the staff, the service and hospitality is the standard Japanese quality which is very good. Food provided is plentiful n hearty. A nice hotel to come back to after day trips to Toba, Okage Yokocho etc.

Friendly Staff, very traditional style

In our Japan journey, we thought about a relaxing stop of two nights in the Area of Shima. We faced on out way great beautiful nature, as soon as we arrived at the sea-side hotel we were shocked. In whole Area there was no possibility to swim on the dirty Beaches, all "resorts" are build higher than the beach, mostly without ability to enter the sea. The rooms were very traditional Japanese, one Bathroom for us 5, in general it was good to try the traditional way of Japanese way of living, but the hotel was way to expensive and didn't offer the guests any interesting thing. An old tiny Swimming-pool and nothing else. They picked us up with a shuttle from the train station. We couldn't even order dinner in the hotel, we didn't understand why, cause no one spoke even a little bit english. The whole area is only made for Japanese tourists and not foreigners.

Strongly recommend this wonderful hotel

Reviewed By shigekoo2017

There are many large hotels in Kashikojima in Ise Shima, Including the one where the recent G7 Summit was Held. In contrast to these huge hotels, Basaratei has only 18 rooms. The room we had was the least expensive one, but it was spacious and above all architecturally beautifully done. It also has a nice view of the bay and also a hot spring bath. There are also three bath rooms that are larger and you can use them by making a reservation. The food was also superb, a course cosisting of 7 or 8 items, including fresh sashimi, beef, lobster, all came in beautiful plates. I heard the main chef is highly regarded. The sevice was also excellent--polite and caring. With such a wonderful dinner and a breakfast and a great room, we only paid about $300. What a deal!
