Reviewed By garygjlFrom beginning to end everything about my recent four night stay at Sangker Villa was perfect. The kind hospitable owners, Christine and Phillipe and their local Khmer team, were enormously welcoming and clearly go to great lengths to ensure your comfort as a guest. I was very kindly given a free room upgrade and my room, number 5 upstairs, was large, bright, airy and meticulously clean. Breakfast (served from 730-930), always a peaceful relaxing affair, served poolside, was absolutely delicious. The warm homemade bread served with homemade jam was amazing as was the ‘Khmer eggs’ option with chilli and onions. Highly recommended! An efficient same day laundry service was available (this may be dependent on weather). Christine can also organise motorcycle rental with the motorcycle delivered to the guesthouse for pickup. Sangker Villa also run a selection of their own very reasonably priced tuk-tuk tours with reputable local English/French speaking driver/guides. To witness Mother Nature at her most awe inspiring I would highly recommend the $15 afternoon tour that includes a dusk visit to the famous bat cave - truly spectacular! My driver, Bun, was a superb guide and companion for my 5 hour tour. Location on the more desirable east river bank in a quiet residential area and only a short (10 minute), pleasant, flat stroll into the ‘centre’ is perfect too. Sangker Villa was a 'home from home' and Christine and Phillipe are a good advert for the hospitality industry. Without hesitation I would stay here again and I cannot recommend this guesthouse highly enough. Thank you team Sangker Villa for being such wonderful hosts! My stay was absolutely perfect and I enjoyed Battambang all the more thanks to you!

Loved this old restored villa
Reviewed By AWOL1134The house itself is the star here beautifully renovated and as have been written here before you truly fell like stepping back in time If you can splash out and go for one of the two superior rooms-you will not regret it as they are quite unique . Its a small hotel with a good little restaurant and a very nice pool and pool area.. Its far from a modern 5* hotel so if thats your thing then this place might not be for you but if you want to experience something out of the ordinary-stay here!

Tried to SCAM us with creditcard
Reviewed By tiemenschotsaertGuesthouse, food, staff and pool are ok. BUT, they tried to do a SCAM with the creditcard when we left. I paid with a credit card, it was appoved on the screen, when the receptionist suddenly pressed a button, no ticket came out of the device and she said that the payment had failed. I refused to pay again. She started shouting and screaming and stopped us from getting into the taxi if we didn't pay. All this with our children next to us. Eventually we jumped in the car and drove away in the taxi. Half an hour later it turned out that the amount had indeed been taken from my credit card.

Reviewed By streamgingerI stayed for 2nights. Clean room, comfortable bed, nice breakfast, friendly staffs.... everything was quite alright before i experience their laundry service. I got my shirts completely ruined. It can happen sometimes but they didn’t let me know about it when they hand it to me. I had to complain it myself and they said only the laundry fee can be refunded which is only 0.25 dollar per a shirt. Very disappointed.... Just be careful with the laundry service!

Reviewed By E6373VMalisonbPor Chey is a great place to stay for budget minded people. The rooms are spacious and very clean. They are basic but great value for money and beds are comfortable. The owner is great. Friendly and helpful and really easy going. We had a night bus leaving at 10.30pm so Mr Chinsong let us use the room until we were ready to leave for the bus. We also used Pen, the guesthouse Tuk-Tuk driver for a daily tour. He was funny and knowledgeable of the city and made our day trip most enjoyable. We also got free pick up from the bus station when we arrived (even though we were 3 hours late than estimated) There is cold beer and water available easily with an honesty system and good bicycles to use for guests. Overall a great place to stay if you want to explore Battambang and just use Por Chey as a place to sleep and shower.

Reviewed By Christian91480Un hôtel très joliment arrangé autour de sa piscine d’eau salée à débordement. Chambres spacieuses, tout est très propre, wifi parfait. Petit déjeuner copieux, rien à dire. Restaurant très bien, le curry rouge est une tuerie, prix très raisonnables. Par contre, la bière est trop chère (4$ la grande bouteille que les autres vous facturent 2$50). Le staff de l’hôtel est tout sourires et arrangera pour vous taxis et autres moyens de transport, location de scooter, blanchisserie, etc. Un peu plus cher qu’en ville, mais comme le centre ville est un peu loin c’est commode. Un dernier mot pour Guillaume, maître des lieux. Sa conversation est un vrai plaisir, et il saura indiquer des objectifs de ballade qui ne figurent pas dans les guides. Un vrai plus !

Our fully modernized property which just opened on April 2009 comes with all the usual amenities as well as unlimited water, free bikes, free internet, free pickup. It is only a 5 minute walk to the Central Market and by bike, it is less than 2 minutes. Of course, tuk tuks are always an option as well. Run by Khmer family, it is a friendly place with a warm, cozy atmosphere and it will provide you with a memorable experience of Khmer hospitality .
Budget hotel

We had trouble with our booking as they incorrectly booked us into a twin and not a double but we sorted it in the end. Just not a great start. There wasn’t any gas working in the kitchen in the morning so we waited until 12pm for breakfast and we didn’t typically enjoy it. But I guess it’s preference. They also state unlimited water but we asked for a bottle and were then charged on checkout for it. Other then that it’s around 5 minute drive from Pub Street and 30 minute drive from Angkor Wat and other areas of interest. Worth a stay if your budget travellers like us! We didn’t use the pool.

Reviewed By Dennis BFor this good rate one cannot complaint as the hotel is very well maintained. The room is spacious and clean. The design is clear cut and not tacky or heavy with local flavour. Just take note that the hotel does not serve breakfast or does it have any restaurant. I pay $22 to get a front view facing the river and it comes with balcony. Not bad. Suggest to rent a bicycle to move around.
