While resorts continue to spring up, "Zihua" remains determined to maintain its small-town flavor. The brick-paved "fisherman's walk," a nod to the region's seafaring roots, stretches along the town center. Because the nightlife is mostly informal, Zihua is particularly appealing to couples and those seeking an escape from coastal party towns.

Most amazing stay!!! I cannot say enough about Hugo and Antonio and the ENTIRE staff. We were upgraded to a beautiful beachfront villa with a huge terrace upon check in with the most MAGNIFICENT views! Everything was impeccable. The service and attention to every detail, the food - Excellent and the best staff. Hugo texted throughout our stay to see if we wanted for anything. Antonio was like our own personal tour guide making recommendations and reservations for us. I cannot recommend Embarc enough! Thank you ALL! We will surely be back very soon...

Beachfront Villas on pristine 10 Mile Beach. Step outside your villa right onto the sand. Each villa has it's own pool, full kitchen and living room. This is your home on the beach. Our beach club has a delicious restaurant, beach palapas and a 25 meter pool. Perfect place to spend the day at the beach. Guest come for the beach and return for the people. Our warm and friendly staff put the personal touch in customer service. We call this Experience Barefootfs Luxury. If you are looking for the comforts of a home with the services of a hotel then Marea is perfect for you.
I can't think of a better place to relax with or without friends and family. The beach is completely unspoilt, the landscaping and pool areas gorgeous and the bungalows well-equipped, comfortable and attractive. Although there is a kitchen, you probably won't want to use it as the restaurant is excellent.

We visited Hotel Irma a few years before and obviously had good enough memories to rebook another stay. We first stayed 10 days in a small village just south of Zihuatanejo with friends and then came back to Zihuatanejo when they departed back to Canada. Hence, we chose to spend the last three nights of our holiday at the Hotel Irma. It was a familiar place and turned out to be even better a stay than last time. We stayed in one of the upper rooms before and this time we were on the ground floor, just up from the pool area. The room opened up to a great view of the bay, very spectacular. The Irma is conveniently located, there is easy access to the malecon, which has been nicely refurbished, and which leads you along the bay into town. There are good choices for restaurants along the way, but there is not a real need for this as the hotel has a good restaurant on-site. The food is good, the prices were reasonable and of course the service was excellent. The convenience of this, coupled with the excellent views: really, what more could one ask for? The hotel is well maintained, our room was comfortable, bed, pillows, etc., it all contributed to a well rested experience. There are two pools, one is a nice infinity pool which overlooks the Bahia de Zihuatanejo. While relaxing on the edge, we were pleased to see rays, jumping out of the water, quite cool. A few spots that we did check out while in town were Cafe Caracol, a great place for specialty coffees and also to buy wares that are special to the area. We did find another special place for meals and that was a place called El Jardin de la Abuela. This is a family run restaurant that served excellent food at very reasonable prices. We had eaten here earlier when we had come into town while staying in the Barra. We had looked forward to another meal here but our plans were thwarted by the restaurant closing for the season. It was near the end of the season here, El Jardin was choosing to close early, too bad! So, as it was, choosing to stay at the Hotel Irma for our final three nights in Mexico was great. We had enjoyed our first 10 days at a great holiday rental which overlooked the bay, some highlights there were watching Humpbacks jumping out of the water while we were sitting around the pool. All in all, this part of Mexico is well worth visiting. We will be back and I think that the Irma will play a part.

Aura del Mar is a boutique-hotel in a Mexican fishing village, known for its hospitality and privacy. It's the perfect choice to get to know Zihuatanejo, relax and enjoy the sea. We offer a privileged location at the seashore in La Madera beach. Walking distance to downtown Zihua.
Located right on the beach. Good room service, restaurant & pool. Lots of steps to climb to reach your room. Spectacular view. Walking distance to plenty of restaurants and activities. Could use some general maintenance improvements in the rooms!

Spectacular sunsets are seen from the comfort of your hammock.
Made a lot of improvements since last year. Great beach service by Memo. He was always checking in with us to see if we needed food or drinks. This is a vast improvement from past years when you had to go to the bar to order anything. Lunch on the beach, chicken quesadillas with beans and guacamole for 105 pesos was enough for both of us. We only had one breakfast and one dinner at their restaurant. Fabulous views from there. Breakfast seems to be their best meal served. Dinner, enchiladas were OK but husband stuffed chicken breast was very good. Great Happy Hour 6-8 at the Sunset Bar, service by Hector was great. We stayed in a Playa Suite just above the beach and 50 steps down to the palapa beach.

Villa del Pescador, is a great little hotel, located in the fishing village of Zihuatanejo Bay, beachfront store, near the waterfront and marina of Puerto Mio and near the waterfront and Main Beach. It has 3 bedrooms with 1 king bed, living room, jacuzzi on the balcony and 7 rooms with 2 double beds, balcony and dressing room with jacuzzi in the bathroom. All rooms have air acodicionado mini split, tv with sky and overlooking the bay of Zihuatanejo, we service restaurant, pool and parking.
Admittedly, my review is coloured by the fact that we had the premium room with our own “Pool”. What a treat! The view of the bay is to die for, & you can enjoy it from this huge deck that includes two comfy loungers, a table, umbrella, the small pool (more of a plunge pool than something you’d swim in) - perfect to float around & cool down in while looking out at the boats coming and going. The room is huge, with large sectional, comfortable king bed, separate shower & sink areas. Everything nice and clean, however we had a lot of tiny ants - I would bring a little ant trap next time. Our friends had a hot tub (cold tub) room two floors above us and they loved it because their tub on the deck was situated as to be very private. Otherwise their room was just like ours. If security is a concern for you, you’ll be very happy here, as access to the building is via a doorbell and camera system. There is a young lady who works at the desk during the day and speaks excellent English. She helped us arrange our covid tests. The rest of the staff is very polite & kind as well, and graciously used phone translation to help us as needed. Fridge worked well, great wifi, looked like lots of TV options (Roku TV) though we didn’t use the TV. Coffee maker, with coffee and tea supplied. 2 small bottles of water are provided daily, but we picked up huge jugs at Mega for use in our coffee & for drinking. A word of advice: it’s extremely hot in Zihua, and if you like to go out and about as we do, you truly need to be cautious about maintaining hydration if you’re not accustomed to the the climate. Nearly every little store sells electrolyte drinks - consider having a few each day along with way more water than you’d usually drink. Beach towels available by the pool & it was no problem borrowing them for beach days. They’ve a nice little pool with a fantastic view and a restaurant serving light fair for breakfast and lunch. Hubs had the civiche & tiritas and said both were excellent. The location is perfect. Perhaps 5 minutes easy walk to the bridge to Centro/playa principal & 101 great restaurants, coffee shops, etc. We clocked our walk from the room to Las Gatas (yes, we like to walk!) at about 70 minutes of easy going, though of course the rocky path between La Ropa and Las Gatas is a challenge and worth some extra time and attention. Very doable - we saw peoples aged 2-80 on it - just take your time. Lots of cabs in the area, you’ll have no problem having someone run you up hill at the end of the night, but we walked it a couple times a day without much whining. We’d been absent from Mexico during the last 3 years, due to COVID, and as Canadians we are keenly aware of our privilege in relation to the pandemic, and the relative struggles of our Mexican friends. They’ve had a hard 2 years without the steady flow of tourist dollars, so even though prices are up (relative to our very strong dollar against the peso), we made a point of paying full price or greater for anything we bought. Also worth noting that pandemic mitigations were respected everywhere and without complaint. Clearly these are people who did not have the luxury of questioning or denying the obvious danger of the virus. We were happy to see this and to wear our masks respectfully. It was just so wonderful to be back in Mexico - thanks for having us!

Traditional Mexican Hotel ideal for couples, business travelers and families. Single bedrooms, doble bedrooms and family bedrooms with A/C and TV Cable. Comfortable pool for adults and children.
I normally travel by myself but this time I travelled with my family. My biggest concern is always safety. I got two separate rooms which were on separate floors. I slept by myself and I felt very safe. If you’re a female traveler I highly recommend this place. It was impeccably clean, the staff are insanely kind, and it’s in a great location. It’s located in the heart of downtown. It was such a great experience being able to stay here. Out of all the places I’ve travelled this was by far my favorite stay.

Hotel Villas Miramar is a small boutique hotel perfect for families and/or couples. It is located in La Madera Beach zone at Zihuatanejo, which makes it easy to walk through the main beaches or downtown.
Kitchen in our suite is getting very run down and all appliances were dirty & rusty and there was a shortage of all utensils. The cleaning lady had stolen from me and I found her holding my wallet which had been well hidden, triple zipped in my suit case in the back of the closet, all in a matter of minutes of leaving the room. Frustrating to get accountability from management when it was reported. Over the following days we learned theft had happened to others in the hotel in the previous few days and in the prior months and nothing had been done about it. Overall staff are friendly and helpful, they've repainted the outside and the location is good.

The Las Salinas Hotel is a small family hotel with all the services and very well located a few steps from the main beaches of Zihuatanejo. We have a pool, hot water , wireless Internet , cable TV , Aere conditioned and have estacionamiento.También several bungalows, fully equipped with 2 or 3 bedrooms, kitchen , living room , air conditioning in the rooms
I stayed here for 1 month and loved it. The family who owns the hotel became like my family, they even helped me to place an urgent call to the US so I could get signed up for Obamacare before the deadline. They kept my water cooler full, and greeted me every morning and evening with a smile and we had many laughs. Anytime I go back to Zihua I’ll stay here. The AC and kitchen in my room were also really nice to have. They did a million other little kindnesses for me that made my stay so nice, which meant even more because it was over Christmas and NYE. I highly recommend.
