The best place to stay in Holbox!

Our room was perfect right on the edge of the beach, clean, and great staff! This hotel is quiet, but only a couple of blocks from the town. You can walk around the point, literally a couple of hundred feet, if you want some action, i.e. music, but return to a relaxing beach that this hotel offers. The bar/restaurant staff is who you come in contact with the most. Andrea and Luis are the best! Andrea can make a mean mojito, and Lazaro, the chef doesn't disappoint with his ceviche among other dishes.

What to expect staying here: No, no TV, but instead... you will find a beautiful window that will allow you to enjoy the moon light, (very romantic btw) AC yes, but it gets pretty chilly during the night. WiFi, yes but trust me, no need of it. What we liked the must: the shower! Crystal ceiling, and a bamboo wall. Not to far from downtown, you can easily walk or take a taxi. Btw don’t miss the opportunity to go see the bioluminescent part of the island. And better to have cash with you, and Mexican pesos way better than dollars.

Beau mais super bruyant

Reviewed By elo_seg468

Oasis in paradise…great for young families ready to chill.

Great for families of any age. Spacious rooms. Close to town, but a few blocks away from nightlife noise, so peaceful in evening. Rooftop breakfast amazing and affordable. International feel. Get to meet people from all over the world. Kids 13,11, 7, played in pool every morning before we went out to enjoy the many pleasures of Holbox. Owner/ Manager goes out of way to make your stay more enjoyable. We were there during spring break and it still felt Chill and not overcrowded even though rooms were sold out. This place is probably even better in offseason. Will come back to swim with whale sharks and stay here for sure! Thank you!

Casa Blanca

Gem property on Isla Holbox

Reviewed By passportsandspice

I loved my stay at Casa Blanca! The property is very special... small, intimate, secluded, offering low-key luxury with a totally laid-back vibe which instantly disarms even the biggest type A’s. The rooms are beautifully decorated in what might best be described as boho chic style and feel like something out of a magazine. There is a small tropical garden and a swimming pool I jumped in first thing every morning and relaxed in for a bit every evening after coming “home” from the beach or exploring the small island.⁣
⁣
Casa Blanca is a 5-minute walk from the beach, which I actually enjoyed. Prior to my trip, I read about noise complaints at some small hotels directly on the beach, but it was very quiet by Casa Blanca. It sits in a small residential area surrounded by houses occupied by locals and not tourists, which actually gave me a glimpse into the real life on the island I might not have gotten if I stayed at one of the hotels right on the beach (I appreciated the privilege of seeing the back stage of Holbox). At the same time, the property it is only minutes away from restaurants, bars, shops, etc, which are easily reachable by walking.
⁣ Casa Blanca comes with a fun and spunky manager Gerardo and a charming cook Flavia, who makes breakfast every morning you can enjoy by the pool (ask her to make you crepes or chilaquiles).

For the best and most memorable room, book Astrolabe… it’s a duplex on the top floor, with a fantastic private deck, view of the ocean (from a sexy ladder in the middle of the room), super cool double rain shower… and the rest… well, the rest you should see by yourself. I highly recommend staying here if you decide to visit Isla Holbox!

No water, no power, no window, no door lock

Reviewed By 675madt

We arrived to discover our booking was not registered, which was alright - I don’t mind a surprise. However, a surprise I was not entertained by was a lack of water (an issue with the plumbing). So we could not clean prior to heading out in the evening but luckily my deodorant was strong enough to carry me through the night. In the morning a power cut, blamed on an outage in the area, could have been true considering the fact we had no window (the only thing we knew before) so any sign of life outside the room was difficult to see, with no wifi to confirm this. After getting breakfast in a nearby cafe (which had running water and power), the issues with our room were still not resolved and we had to pack our bags using a head torch. In addition, the lock on our door broke when we got in at night (it looked rusty and just would not stay closed anymore) and since there was no one at reception we had to build a barricade using our bags to keep it shut, as well as leave our possessions in an unlocked room when getting breakfast. The rooms also have a mouldy smell. As the website mentions though, ‘each Esduma hotel is unique in its own way’. This was certainly a unique once in a lifetime experience. The only thing making it slightly better is that we were given a discount.
