The owner is knowledgeable, but definitely not welcoming. If you dare to ask for something he does not stock, he is extremely dismissive. I heard him being insulting in French about a German customer who had asked very politely for a wine from a nearby region. Wouldn't give him my money....

Tucked up a little side street is a perfect little bar for a coffee or a cocktail. It's family run and by far the best cocktails I have ever had! Explain what you like flavour wise & you'll be made the most delicious masterpiece. All served up with fantastic freshly made tapas. Having taken a lot longer to find a park than expected we were rather hungry once we got into the city, and this was the first place open that we happened upon. It was a great choice. The bar staff were extremely helpful and we ended up a sort of menu terroir with cuts of meats, cheese, olive oil and bread. Good value and delicious, and the staff were a pleasure.

We've been to this bar many times. I'm sure it won't be to everyone's taste.. it is certainly unusual!The decor is a very eclectic mix... on the ceiling are many bras (signed) donated by kind customers... also a VW Beetle bonnet and roof!The music playing will be some 50s/60s slow crooning or jazzThe seating may be a seat from an old railway carriage.The wine selection is just excellent... SO many excellent wines available by the glass... Super Tuscans at 6/glass or 27/bottle, plus numerous others. The bottled beer is excellent too... just don't expect a Becks/Bud or anything else you'll have seen widely elsewhere.When you have a drink you are frequently given a small plate of complementary nibbles. These cheese and meats are outstanding.You can convert, for a price, to a larger plate if you'd like something more substantial.If you're after something a bit different, give it a go!

We had an awesome time in here. Great wine offer and the famous tuscan delicacy cinghiale stew was also delicious. Offers so many tables and we found a small one in a separate room. It was just ours and enjoyed every moment of it. Service is outstanding. My partner was gluten intolerant. They are not really prepared for food allergies, but they tried their best to satisfy our needs. Not so cheap, not expensive either, altough it is a perfect stop for a lunch in Volterra. Keep up the good work 5/5! We'd love to go back anytime.

Wish we had found this earlier during our stay. Anything we saw on the various tables and our own choice was tasty and very well made. The cold cuts are great, Lasagne perfect, Tiramisu as well. Even simple Bruschetta with Tartufo was a new experience. Recommended. Nice decoration under the roof.

Delicious wine and food. If you want information about wines of the region, then this is the right place for you. Besides the nice conversations you can taste the delicious wine form the region directly. The furniture is very nicely done and you feel at home on the sofa. We hat a nice evening and at teh end of our holiday in Tuscany we took a few bottles of wine with us, so that we could also drink a very good wine at home. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening.

This is a truly amazing place. If you are looking for a quiet, beautiful, romantic place, that's the place to go. The restaurant itself is worth a trip. There was no menu when we were there; only recommendations and a few options to chose from. But even better so! It was incredibly delicious and fresh and just amazing. We will certainly go back! Thank you Mauro, we loved it. Dinner/12th October 2010.
